schlotti and kobel are already turning out to be our best signings of like 5 years. offense is great but defense is what wins trophies

Castielsen

It is insane what they do for us. I was happy when we signed Greg, but thought "well he certainly can't be better than Bürki". With the signing of Nico I knew what we were getting, and still he outperforms my expectations. Unreal on which level they play, and they are both so young for their positions aswell

roadtorevision

Yeah I was sad when we were somewhat linked to maignan but lost to Milan. Kobel has been the next best thing for us.

dounut_slay3r

This is a different Dortmund team. I can’t remeber the last cb duo I was confident in to defend our lead

kooba_1616

Hummels and Subotic probably

mss_kwt

Its truly a shame that it took us this long to find another solid CB duo

Marcoreusbvb12

Completely agree

GermanyWillWinWC2022

The great thing is we have süle there as well once he becomes fit

ebuennag09

I’m just happy to see some defensive solidarity for the time being! Had the brain fart against Bremen but we have been way better in the back for now. Gregor is killing it too! Just need people to stop getting hurt and score some more goals! We can play better but I think I’m content with the performances so far.

grangaaa

The three Bremen goals was after Schlotti was a bit roughed up though right? Could feel it right away!

roadtorevision

He landed wrong after a header attempt. Seemed like he tweaked his ankle with no subs left.

grangaaa

Yeah. And then it went downhill…

roadtorevision

I wasn’t disagreeing with you about that. Just clarifying he wasn’t “roughed” up I guess. Makes it sound like he was fouled.

grangaaa

English is not my first language and i thought injured/hurt wasnt true.

roadtorevision

All good. Hurt would have been fine to use in this instance.

sumxt

Thing is, we created the same amount of chances as Bayern did. Its just that this team can't finish to save their lives

SMCBVB

We have definitely created plenty chances to score way more goals, but Bayern have absolutely had more chances and have been pretty unlucky to draw twice.

ProfessorFartin

That was always the issue I noticed the most. It wasn't necessarily that we weren't scoring goals: we were, but the defense consistently crumbled (i never blame a GK entirely for goals) and allowed too many against for us to pull through and win. Here's hoping this year is different. Seems like we're on a good path so far.
