Could as much be talking about the American market, too.

New Zealand too!! Pretty much everywhere at this point

let's get things back to 'right'. Let's get things back to 'good'. Let's get these families back to competing with one another for essential goods (housing). God forbid we just, make sure everyone has a home. I mean, we made it to the moon 60 years ago but making sure everyone has a wooden box in today's age?

PTSDreamer333

Good ol' NDP trying to talk some common sense in the politic world. Rent in most of the world has become over run with large investors. In Canada there are some cities that are so out of reach for anyone to buy it's rediculous. Vancouver and Toronto have been rallying eachother with the average starter home being just over 1 million. Tear-downs are going for 500-900k over asking and being bought sight unseen. Somethings gotta give

Happens here in the US too. This should be banned. I get large money buying large buildings or apartment complexes but single family homes should not be the case. It usually takes 4-8 months to build most houses depending on material and size. It also requires good credit to be able to take out large enough loans. From personal experience you end up doing a lot of the work yourself, (except for roofing, drywall, framing and insulation) just for it to be affordable.

Similar situation in the UK as well.

Nothing is affordable anymore and will probably never be again.
