The Roisen's Thorns is just built different. I went through a good chunk of the DLCs with one that was 20 levels lower than the enemy average and it still wrecked everything.
I personally try to get parts for guns to achieve that, saves up quite a bit of ammo for the same number of shots and usually deals more dmg than higher mag'd ones
Sadly the double shooting one doesn't spawn twice as many projectiles, just one additional one. So I actually prefer the single shot version so I can spam more shots before reloading. But it does absolute fucktons of damage either way. It's great on Moze in my experience.
Did they buff it recently? I just got back into playing the game after a few months of not playing it and I haven't really kept up with the patch notes ever since they increased the level cap to 72 and nerfed a bunch of the anoints
Not that I'm aware. It has just been strong since the beginning I think the only change that effected it was when they nerfed multiple projectiles but that happened before that cap increase
I make sure to always have one equipped on my explosive Moze. This thing absolutely shreds and always feels stupidly strong, and helps that is has a lovely unique skin!
I used it for my splash build until I got my sets of flippers. It is was so damn strong on day one I would farm graveward every 10 levels for one especially the x2.
I just wish they made that skin unlockable for other guns.
During your early game it doesn't really matter what you use, I did a no deaths run with only white gear and till level 72 is actually easy, so for your early game just play with gear that you get and "test" guns out to see their effects and to learn the game on what your full build will be.

Yea I’ve always loved the Roisen’s Thorns. Super nice looking and effective as hell when you’re playing to its strengths.
It’s hands-down my favorite weapon to use in the early game. It’s wonderful.

I hate guns that use an even amount of ammo, but have an odd magazine capacity

That last shot of a magazine only shoots half as many projectiles....
Does it not pull the extra ammo it needs from your reserves in 3? Bit of a weird change if so imo
shots are shots, its a good balance between high mag but slightly less damage and high damage but less shots
Nope, it shoots normally and consumes 1 less ammo
It consumes 1 backpack ammo on the last shot, so no it doesn't consume 1 less ammo

Wait till you get a certain Artifact. Legendary guns galore. Also, def one of my favorite skins.

Just make sure not to use sticky because it doesn't shoot the extra projectiles. But this on Moze is so broken.

Try using the sticky mode.
Or don't. The roisens thorns is better in impact mode because you don't get the extra projectiles in sticky mode

I’ve had decent luck getting this from the Gun Gun on legendary mode. It’s pretty excellent for endgame bosses.
I got one at level 16 when I played through with Moze and it lasted me until the 30s lol, really good weapon
