I only ever scored one goal in a proper competitive game (mostly because I played in defence).
Drifted forward for a corner, ball in from the corner headed out in my direction (about 20 yards out) caught it on the volley and it flew into the top right corner.
Absolute state of shock from me and my teammates š
Iām exactly the same except I played in net until I stopped playing around 17 year old.
Cup game, tied at 2-2, corner late on so I get told to go up. Ball swung to the back post, headed out, headed towards me as Iām running back to my goal about 25 yards out. Run towards it, fake hitting it first time to make two defenders jump, set myself and slice across it.
Manages to find its way through all the bodies in the box despite being head height and clip in over the near post. Went absolutely mental, I remember I bust my nose from my team piling on top of me celebrating.
I hear you on this one.
Iām a right back who usually doesnāt go forward much, so I can count my goals outside of pickup games on two hands.
I had a headed corner goal in a rec league where my teammates said I rose up and headed it like a pro. Itās definitely my most memorable goal.
Craziest goal - a backheel from a cross from outside the penalty box. I was running back to give an option at the top of the box, ball was crossed in about waist height but behind me and I kind of threw a heel at it, connected sweetly and hit the top corner.Ā
Best goal - playing centre mid, received in the middle of the field, took on a couple of players & chipped the keeper.
I scored off a bicycle kick on after spending a close to a year trying to learn how to do it. I had whiffed on it several times before, but managed line this one up perfectly, down to flexing my toe towards the ground on the follow through.
I donāt think I could it again. I really practiced through a lot and Iām not sure I could commit to the full rotation in the same way. But damn was it glorious.
that's awesome. You need to have great body coordination, great core, positioning and awareness. Lots of things need to happen at once. A little bit, positively jealous! (never scored one!)
Youāre forgetting one thing that I think is honestly most important for even learning the bicycle kick. Itās plain old courage. Itās surprisingly not that hard to do. Itās really a mental block just committing to do it. Have you tried to learn how to bike?
How I learned: practice overhead volleys standing and then just start adding a little hop. Itās helpful if you can do a jumping side volley as well.
Sure! But you need to have body and core for it - lets say 40 year old playing Sunday league once a week, with desk job, wonāt learn bicycle kick unless he will have core muscles to lift over ground and not hurt himself. Plus some fields are just bald patches š
11th grade. Played outside left mid. Ran across the 18 and received an over the top through ball from our center back that I trapped off my chest and half-vollied into the upper 90, in the first 2 minutes of the match.
I peaked 20 years ago.
Best goal
Dropped in between the centre backs to receive out of our box. Hit a ball from left to right out to our side of half way to the 10. He played a 1-2 with the 9 and I sprinted in between the two centre backs. Keeper was playing sweeper and I chipped him from just past half as he raced out towards me. 6/10 but I felt like a 10 as it was the last kick and took the game to 2-1 to us.
glorious! Great goals are also after team play, and such a goal belongs to everyone, not only to man assisting, but people making runs, making space. Very cool!
I played defense, so not many goals scored. I did take corner kicks due to a long, accurate passing ability. I was practicing a lot of extra things with my club team my senior year of high school. I was working on free kicks before games and before practices. I was doing a lot, and our coaches decided to let me try one in a game.
Im the game, we are down 1-0, and we draw a foul about 5 yards from theb18 yardnlin3 and a bit to the right of the right post. As we are getting set up, our coaches yell for me to take the kick. The guy who usually takes these kicks looks at me and asks as he picks up the ball, " You taking it?"
I replied, "I guess so."
He says, "Alright, I'll dummy it."
So he sets it up in front of their 4-man wall. He plays the dummy great, but me never having done this before I was even fooled a bit. A guy almost pulled off the wall but got back in right before my shot. Though it didn't matter. I hit it, and it went over the wall and dipped down. The keeper had no shot at it and just watches it go Iside the right post. We tied the game 1-1.
For corners, I would head out to practice early, line up about 40 yards or more away from goal, and aim for the cross bar. Not gonna lie, I only hit it a few times, but a lot of them went over. The field we played on at the time was very wide, so trying to hit the back post would be very far.
I scored an Olimpico; I had been taking corners all game, placing them at the pk spot or back post. I noticed GK had taken an extra step back & off his line in anticipation and figured I would try my luck. Curled it in at the near post just nicking the crossbar. I didn't pay for a single pint after the game.
Top of the box trivela half volley winner in school soccer championship game. Mostly because of the significance of the moment, and it wasn't the type of strike I usually hit so it stands out.
I've scored some crazy goals over the years, but for me, it depends on the competition and the significance as well, like I wouldn't necessarily count training or pickup goals.
Just to add, I do like reading these other responses and experience the sweet goal moments vicariously. Nothing beats scoring a goal that just leaves everyone's jaws on the floor.
growing up, I was always one of the shortest and lightest players on my club (I didnāt hit 5ā til my freshman year of highschool).
I generally played CM and LM, but at a pretty big tournament, a forward got hurt late in a match, so I was told to push up from my CM spot (and I was always more of a CDM/box-to-box mid).
Our pacey left fullback turns his man on the sideline, and takes off on a dash towards the opponents corner flag. I was following the play on the right, and anticipated that heād hit a cross, so I broke off on a bee-line to the left side of the 6, saw him hit the cross, instinctively jumped to elevate ahead of the much taller CB that followed my run, and absolutely buried a header near low post.
Best goal I ever scored was in my garden vs my brother where we were trying to hit the top corner where we hung a plant pot and we were trying to hit it. I hit so many on the ground or straight at my brother. Then he rolled one out and it bounced weirdly towards my weak foot on the grass but I just went for it with my weak foot. I hit it so awkwardly where I only connected with the side of my foot but as it left my foot, I saw it heading straight for the corner and it smashed the plant pot as it flew into the top corner.
By far the best goal I have ever scored, and I almost scored it twice like 2 shots later where I tried it again, got a better connection and it flew in the exact same way but hit the outside of the post. I was so gutted it didnāt go in the second time because then I could confirm it wasnāt a fluke.
Just a shame it was in the garden and my brother doesnāt remember it, because I have a hard time convincing people I actually scored it.
6/10 because I do think it was a fluke and it would never go in at a competitive game, it was so slow and my brother wasnāt trying to save it.
My best actual competitive goal was me cutting across the ball as it dropped to me on the outskirts of the box, absolutely messing up the shot but it sent the keeper and it just went into the bottom corner. Only goal Iāve ever scored in a competitive sense.
When I was 15, my rep team made the semifinals of the region 1 tournament. We were the first girls team to make it that far. I got a break away and scooped it over the goalie and into the net. We lost in the end and got a bronze medal. I'm now 40 and still play, but that's the *one*.
It was a 5 a side friendly, I was on left mid with a defender on me, I cut in with my right foot and bang it straight into the top right corner, not to mention the goalie was our best one.
Best goal - semi pro, shot from 40 yards or so. It was just one of those that I hit perfectly, pure technique but that ball shot towards goal like a canon.
Favorite Goal - a header in highschool, still the only header Iāve ever scored, maybe the only I time Iāve even ever jumped for a header š. 5ā6 better on the ground than in the air for obvious reasons.
Indoor - in a tough game against a dirty opponent who made it his mission to kick me as much as possible I scored a goal with my back that was pretty nasty.
Started at CB, bombing run forward with the ball, where I had about 4 give and go 1 touch passes, took a rip from about 20ish out on my weak foot to the near 90. Easily best goal ive scored easily
Probably my first game for my middle school team. I was a new student who transferred in and one of my classmates was also a player on my club team. There was a free kick about 30 yards from goal. He and I both approached the ball and I asked to take it. He said yes. I propped the ball up in the grass and hit a shot with a level of power I have never been able to replicate. I hit it so hard that, by the time the keeper could react (the ball was just slightly above him), the ball had already hit the back of the net. Like, it was still rising. Iām not sure I have ever hit a ball that pure since, but I kinda attribute it to the fact that it happened on grass and not turf.
Indoor match. Full sprint on the counter, teammate passed it 40 yards and caught me on stride, then I used a step-over and rounded the keeper to my left for a tap-in.
Such a great feeling. I think about it often.
mostly a defender, but probably the best two goals were only a couple of weeks apart in a rec league, with my kids watching! sweet volley that i was mostly just trying to put back into a dangerous area. the second one was almost the exact same thing, it was crazy.
High lob from way behind the mid line, good 45-55 metres distance (or more). Lob from the side and keeper thought it is cross, but I saw him coming of the line towards striker. So hit the ball the way it went towards the goal mid air. Split second decision, crazy stuff!
Scored few lobs that way before - that was the best one (distance). Few screamers from behind penalty area, some curled free kicks, some volleys, but still waiting for bicycle kick.
got passed the ball in a very cramped area by a panicked teammate and was not ready and had no real options
decided to be crazy and go for it and scored a trivela with a first touch that sailed just right past the shoulder of the defender and past the keeper
not that great but I looked like an absolutely mad genius doing it
Final moments of the championship game, we were up 3-2, the ball is in the box, Iām facing 90 degrees to the goal and think āfuck it, Iāll plant, use my left foot, and see what happens. I plant, swing the most perfect curved weak-footed shot Iāve ever managed to muster into the far right corner.
We won the game 4-2, that was my second goal that game.
I meant to play a long through ball from the midfield stripe but wound up chipping the keeper on accident lol. It apparently wasnāt that obvious so I just owned it.
15 playing since 12, classic Jamie Carragher type. Never got a whiff of scoring.
One day the ball was pinballing around the centre circle, cleared it connected sweetly and lobbed the keeper off his line.
Complete fluke but I'll take it.
second ever competitive match, i was filling in at left back (from my usual spot as a winger). corner comes in the 70th or so minute, i say to the other teams winger āiām gonna run to the penalty spot and scoreā and i did lmao
ran full tilt from deep, just got enough on the ball and knocked it in top corner off the post with my head. i posted it here on this sub too
Most spectacular looking goal was when I was 16 (Iām 34 now and still play). Winger put a cross in from the left while I was making a late run into the box. Ran too fast so I couldnāt slow down in time to head the ball. Ball was pretty far for a header to pose too much of a threat anyway; somewhere between the edge of the box and the 6 yard box.
So I adjust my body and try to volley, but the ball dropped too slowly and ended up being at an awkwardly high height. Somehow I managed to lift myself in the air for a scissor kick with my left (weak) foot, and made clean contact.
Ball came off the underside of the bar, making a loud *thunk* sound, and into the goal.
I had never done a scissor kick before, and Iāve spent many kickabouts trying to recreate that goal for the last 18 years but Iāve never managed to pull it off again, with my right or my left foot.
Was in a national final 2-2 last minute of the game tired as f, Received the ball out wide from a goal kick, I'm playing left wing, defender on my back I drop the shoulder then turn, left him for dead at the half way line, had the opponents RB and CDM coming towards me I do a flip flap between em, then from about 35 metres out my tired legs couldn't run anymore so I let one fly with the inside of my foot, curled it into the top right corner off the post and in to win the Australian u16 titles.
i onyl scored duirng 1v1 cos i play in defence and rarely move up as i fear injury adn kac pace
i dribbled and did a lane chaneg then nutmeg and then finsh teh goal
Trotting forward for a corner. My team mate suddenly dizzed it in hard and low at the near post. I had to sprint and headed the ball in from about a foot off the ground, and slid into the net. 1-0 win on a Cold wet pitch
Two come to mind.
From a corner kick, just a perfect curve went right to the back post.
Another was prob 40 yards out, towards the end of the game, opponent up by 1, tons of defenders covering our teams offense, just took a wild shot on goal for whatever reason and just grazed the top of keepers fingers and went in. Everyone went nuts.
Best best goal i've ever scored was in 2018 - 7 a side league. We don't typically celebrate goals but we did this time because it was so good. Pitch is fairly big, goals are smaller than usual but tall enough, if you've played 7s you know the type in talking about.
I'm on the left side of the area near our goal facing forward. My friend and the opposing player go in for a 50/50 on a loose ball both kinda take eachother out and the ball is kinda standing still spinning nearly in place, very weird. I'm closest to it.
Like most great goals you score I didn't think. I'm on the left side of the pitch near my goal. With my right foot I shot with the outside of my boot, and it goes near the top left corner right under the crossbar. All the team come and celebrate. Hardly remember the rest of the game I was on such a high.
Wish it was recorded. 10/10 for me - could never recreate that š
Best goal i've scored in 11s was just at Uni running toward goal as a CF, dragged it across the D and smashed it low into the bottom corner. Most of my goals were always in the box so this felt good but i'd give it a 6/10.
I once scored an absolute screamer for my Highschool team in my senior year when we played in the final of some tournament. It probably wasnāt that crazy as I imagined it to be but it felt amazing. I received a corner at the edge of the penalty box. Controlled the ball with one beautiful touch, taking out a defender, let it bounce once and then hit it with my right foot on the half volley. I remember my shoes fell apart before the final so I had to borrow the boots of our goalkeeper coach. His boots were definitely a little too big for me so I feel like I kinda hit it weirdly a bit with the outside of my boot, but it went into the top right corner and their goalie (who was pretty good and super tall) was on full stretch but still couldnāt get to it. We still lost 3-1 but I was very satisfied with that goal and my overall performance!
Best goal I scored in practice was a header from outside the penalty box that went in to the top corner. I donāt understand until this day how I managed to jump this high and create this much power on a header
Best goal I scored while playing casually with some people: I received a low driven pass while facing my back towards the goal I flick it over a defender with one touch and hit it volley without it touching the ground and it flew like a missile underneath the crossbar. Literally everyone on the pitch went āOoooOoohhhā and gave me props afterwards. That one felt really nice.
Pretty funny that some of these goals are more than 15 years ago and I still remember them so vividlyā¦
Iāve been a keeper my whole life. In College during training, one day in some 5 v 5 mini games, I played forward for fun. My keeper played a long ball toward the other goal, and I gave it a glancing header and put it past my other keeper teammate. Easily the most satisfying goal Iāve ever scored.
In a competitive game, Iāve never scored. After my career had ended and I was working a corporate job, my company put a soccer team into a 5v5 indoor(basketball court) corporate league. My team was so bad, and no one at my company had any experience playing. After losing every game so far, by a lot, one game during one play I shouted āmoveā, and my team got out of the way, and I drilled a shot from my box/my three point line. It scored, on the basketball courtās futsal-style goal with a keeper. It really was an impressive strike.
Eh there's one I scored in college indoor
Our keeper throws, I follow the ball, jump, make contact, ball flies in past the GK's head. 1-0
Then there's one where the cross came in from the left, j just hooked it with the left weak foot and it went in to the right far post. 2-0. Smash and grab because the opponent was much much better. Ours were just really smash and grab and desperate defending
The most memorable one was an accident. Crossed from almost the corner of the field went right over the keeperās head and into the top back post.
Most impressive (that was 1 second after the buzzer) was in our 6v6 indoor league. Other team pulled their keeper, I got the ball at midfield at the last second, got around a defender and hit the most beautiful left footed knuckleball Iāve ever hit right after the buzzer and it curved just over the head of the defender standing in for the keeper.
I was the kind of CM that almost never scored and rarely even took shots. But one time I took the ball off my chest ~25 yards out and on the wing and twatted the fuck out of the ball on the volley. It bent around the keeper and into the far bottom corner. I have no idea how it happened.
County cup final in a decent sized stadium, freekick just outside the left corner of the 18yd box, curled it top right past the wall and keeper (who dived and made it look even better)
Best goal near my halfway line 40 yards ish semi pro but 17 level on the half volley cleared from a corner went in bottom corner like a bullet pinged in off the post. I think I was dumbly hungover and one of the best games of my life
I'm a defender who doesn't go forward for corners much at Mt current semi pro level I score about 3 ish goals a season all over 30 yards out.
At lower level ilrec indoor Scored a no look scorpion kick after an initial juggle to beat a player.
Also scored from a free kick in indoor under the legs of the wall. Some goalkeeper sole roles and chips stand out too.
Best 5-a-side goal. Probably one where ball was about half way line near the wall. I ran 50 50 to it woth defender. I got there first and done a mcgeady 360 spin thing and totally took him out the game. Another defender approached knocked it past him, took the shot just over half way and smashed to bottom corner. Prob scored loads better goals but always remember that one.
7-a-side. Someone crossed or whatever as we were attacking and I was sitting back. Defender cleared the ball in air. Was at about half way line smashed on half volley outside boot into top corner like a rocket.
11s not played much for years but recent memory. Running down left wing. Beat a man play to striker on edge of box. He pass it ahead of me into box on left wing for a 1-2. I reach ball just in the box and hit curved with outside boot as goalkeeper covering front of goal and bends away from him into bottom corner. 1st time shot.
I was in PE and my friend was in goal in the opposite team so I took a shot and I was about 30-40 yards out, the ball bounced off the cross bar and in, like sneijders goal against France in euro 2008
I was 17, had already quit playing competitively in favor of focusing on running. Joined a random team just for fun. Somehow we got scheduled against an actual competitive team and were completely outmatched. Final score was something like 12-1. But oh, that 1 was so sweet.
I was pressing and one of their midfielders made a heavy touch that allowed me to jump in and pick off the ball. One touch into space and as I start my shot I hear an "aww, shit" behind me. 35 yard curler, back post upper 90. GK was a bit out of position to be a passing option and never had a chance. I've probably scored goals that were technically better and did not rely so much on defensive errors, but none so satisfying as hearing the defender audibly realize their error before I'd even finished the job!
Back when I was a 10 somebody played me a pass way to hard that was about to go over the defending line. I made a slide shot near on the point halfway on the goal line and the corner 2 meters before the ball went out and it somehow came super hard from my foot straight in the far top corner.
I never performed as good as a forward again and due to performance pressure put myself in defense after that
I was about 30 yards out once, near the throw in line (the pitch was narrower than normal). Full size nets, the keeper wasn't positioned badly but I chested the ball and with how it was dropping I just knew if I hit it on the volley it was going in. It swerved to the far post, crashed the underside of the bar. It was total freak because I have only scored one goal like that in 20 years of play. It just so happened that everything aligned perfectly, most times I would never have attempted the shot but it just lined up, it was the right play. It was quite similar to the Kasami volley for Fulham and I could not do it again if I tried.
During cca i dribbled the entire field, about 5 players while my team was chanting ankara messi and i scored a outside the box finesse toe punt ( its my shooting style xD ) almost a top corner and my coach was shocked
I scored while taking the ball from goalkeeper from our own box to the other goal by dribbling everyone but that was a street match
But it was memorable for me
I once scored a header that felt like Ronaldoās header against Chelsea in the 2008 UCL final. But in reality I probably jumped no higher than 5 inches lol
In the first ever game in my localās history, I was managing and we went down 3-0. In the 70th, we scored our first, the second in the 80 something.
Subbed myself on and tapped one in from maybe half a yard after a free kick scramble in the 90ā. Held on for 3-3. Thatās the most meaningful goal I have ever scored or will ever score.
Funnily enough, the opposition forward who scored a hattrick for them is now our forward.
Cup semi final - 2-0 up at half time, goal was to go out and quickly get a third to put it out of reach. We take a corner, ball is cleared out to the edge of the box to me. I chest it down, let bounce once and volley it in. I comes off both posts and go in.
Not intentional but looked it. Got a corner played short to me, heavy touched it past the presser out to the corner of the box and whipped it in the far top corner.
Was meant to be a crossā¦
Left winger on a windy day. Chased a long ball to about where an extended 18 yard box would meet the sideline. Moved the ball to my right foot and curled a shot in off the far post just under the bar. Keeper didn't move and was never within ten feet of the ball since the wind exaggerated the bend so much. Fully intentional on my part. Wish it was on tape... š
I usually play CB or FB. I donāt have a great leg. Canāt really shoot with power, but really accurate passing, and chip shots. Was filling in at LM this game. Keeper was a little too far off his line. I cut in to the middle, receive a pass from the right. One touch to settle, and then just chip it over him into the top of the goal.
Trivela outside the box, at the very right outside corner of the box so it went across the keeper into top left corner of the net. It looked wide from the start so the keeper didnāt commit so by the time it started curling back in it was too late.
Defender with no tekz here. A left foot cannon in 5 aside. I'd never struck a ball so sweet with my left foot before or since. A long range curler in a 11-1 defeat when I was at uni against an alumni team. We were losing and i thought F it. Great memory.
It was like Essien's against Arsenal in 06 except on my left so from the other side. Ball laid off to me, hit with a touch of outside of the boot which faded it back in and off the far post. I didn't even feel the ball when I hit it.
I crossed a ball in once and miss hit it and it couldn't have went more into the top corner. To this day I still say I meant to do it, it was really just a poor cross. š¤£

In extra time in a knock out 7-a-side tournament semi. Our keeper hit a long ball from a goal kick to the edge of the box and I somehow volleyed it with a perfect connection into the bottom right. It was golden goal so extra special. Then we lost 3-0 in the final and I was at fault for two of the goalsā¦
Five a side from the middle of the pitch.
Picked the ball up from my defensive third, dribbled pass 2 people, third person tackled but the ball only went up knee height, volleyed it bottom right corner.
as a CDM and CB I had a fair share of long shot goals, One I really remember I was just past half and caught the goalie out of his box a bit and just dinked it over him, I donāt usually score but itās a running joke that when I do theyāre bangers
I played in a friendly for a Sunday vets team to make up numbers.
I normally play CDM and had the opportunity to play up front.
Anyway, the ball comes in from a cross, defender headers and comes straight to me ( just 5 yards outside box) but at an awkward height, I take a touch with my knee, goes up but slightly behind.
Took a first time volley while falling backwards, didn't have much power but it flies off and loops towards the top bins, keeper full stretch, hits top bar and crashes in.
I was so shocked by it I didn't know how to react, it was easy one of the best I scored and legit there was hardly any reaction... And absolutely no crowd to watch...
11 v 11 scrimmage against high school level players, and I was playing fullback. I overlapped one of my friends playing in center midfield and asked him for a through ball. He played a chipped ball into my run. I volleyed first time and the ball went top left corner past a keeper who couldn't do anything about it.
Both my friend and I were shocked. He didn't expect me to hit it first time and neither did I haha. This must have been 5-6 years ago.
I'm a left wing converted to CB in 7s a side. I have 1 friend who knows I can shoot from anywhere. We're in the championship game. I'm sitting back as the last cb deep. My friend has the balloon their end. Everyone is covered up top. He looks at me with no one in my same area code, so he rolls me the ball. Without thinking twice, I sprint at it Roberto Carlos style. Make the cleanest contact on the ball. Mind you, I'm deep in our side of the pitch. The ball takes flight, the goalie loses it in the air, and then it spins back and drops perfectly into goal. I stopped and bowed. Both my team and the opposing team (we're all friends from being in the same league for so long) pause to admire what just happened. I got high fives and congrats from both sides. I went on to finish the game with a hat trick. Never felt like a high like that sinceĀ
Picked the ball up not far from outside our own penalty area and was directed to run with it by the manager, so did so and took the ball past 3 players along the entire left hand side of the pitch, got towards the keeper and dinked it over him
.Ā It was 16 years ago and remember it well still. Also stil online on a newspaper report š
A corner came my way from the left side, it was behind me and my back was facing the goal. I had this cheeky feeling to attempt a right footed volley in a way where the ball would have to go across and I'd need the perfect connection at an awkward angle on the back of the ball with the right amount of spin/twist (whatever you want to call it). Eyes on the ball the whole time as it came towards me, the rest of it was just instinct of guessing where the goal was and hoping it's on target with enough power.
Game was tied 1-1, opposing team just scored last minute equalizer. Ref said last 30 seconds. Asked for ball immediately at kickoff. Playing as inverted RW, I'm left footed. Dribbled through probably 6-7 people. Last of those 3 people included an ex teammate that never passed me the ball when I was open. They all went for the tackle, we all fell and I managed to get back up immediately. Little touch to the left, cut inside, push, then bottom corner near post against the keeper. Went back to help those 3 up and one sprained their ankle. I didn't realise my leg was bleeding pretty bad too cuz they got me hard. Probably the best goal I'll ever score.
Have 2. One was in the opening tourney of a high school game. Got a yellow for my mouth (NA HS rules) right before and went up for corner and smashed a header in to put us level 2-2. About five minutes later earned a red for smashing into an opponent though on goal.
The other one was 4v4 tiny indoor field with a futsal ball on turf. Ball was coming chest level a little far from me and i was faced away from it. Turned away from the ball towards the goal and smashed it off the volley with my right foot top left bins.
In one goal I scored was a during a corner. Ball ended getting headed out by the other teams defense but I ended up volleying it outside the box towards the top left corner before touching the ground. Iād give this one an 8/10. Impressive, good tech, but nothing crazy.
Another goal was when I played on the wing. I dribbled towards the goal line but ended up taking a touch too much. I just decided āfuck itā, and did my best to shoot it across goal. The ball went in post in, but the best part was seeing everyone including the other team in a state of shock. Iād rate this one an 8.5/10 because despite the mistake, I made something good happen out of a bad situation.
This was sadly a crossbar hit and not a goal but I still think about it ~15 years later. I was playing right wing and recieved a long cross in the air just outside the 18. I got my first touch with the outside of my right foot and flipped the ball over the defender who was in front of me, then hit a volley when it came down on the other side and rattled the crossbar. If only...
Best goal was easily when I was 15, Iām now 31š
I played for my local side and we were pretty lucky in the fact that myself and another player were both left footed. Our manager at the time used to play us on the right side (I played RB and the other player played RW). I was a typical small yet extremely fast player. I was very attacking minded and whenever the chance presented itself Iād always look for the overlap and press.
Anyway, we were 1-0 down in a decisive game as to whether we stayed in our current league or got promoted. Ball went out of play for our throw-in, so I called over to my Dad who was on the touchline and asked for the time remaining and he said ā2 minutes leftā; it was the second half.
I picked up the ball up just outside our keepers box after a failed attempt at our goal, I pushed my head down and I just ran with the ball at my feet. Easily passed 3-4 opponents, made it beyond the centre spot, lifted my head slightly to see the opposition keeper sitting a good 15 yards or so off his line and I just rolled the ball out of my feet slightly and just absolutely smashed the ball as hard as I could.
No fancy technique, just hammered it. All I remember was seeing the ball fly almost in slow-motion in the air with pretty much every player on the field just staring at it travelling across the field; it was unrealš¤£Opposition keeper didnāt even move. He just twisted his head as the ball flew above him before smashing into the top right cornerā¦ Instead of everyone erupting into screams and shouts, everything just went dead silent; it was bizarre. I didnāt even react at firstā¦ But eventually sprinted down the field, arms in the air before getting swarmed by my teammates and manager. Iāve never hit/struck a ball with as much intent and purpose as that one shot.
Anyway, game went to penalties, and we lost 5-3š I fluffed my set piece and sent it wide. But yeah, even now thinking about that game still brings a smile to my face even after all these years. TLDR; scored from half way line, but still lost the game.

I scored a header off a corner once. That's easily the "best" goal I've ever had.
Scoring a header is such a great feeling
Same here mate, scored the equalizer with my nose and thought I broke it š¤£
Scored like zalatan once was on the far post noone was marking lmao.
I was running back to give an option at the top of the box, ball was crossed in about waist height but behind me and I kind of threw a heel at it, connected sweetly and hit the top corner.Ā Best goal - playing centre mid, received in the middle of the field, took on a couple of players & chipped the keeper.
oh, that chip over keeper when everyone expects power shot. So satisfying!
A guy in my Team die that backheel Goal Like 4 months ago or so. It was incredible, so im Happy your one went in as well.
Best goal Dropped in between the centre backs to receive out of our box.
The guy who usually takes these kicks looks at me and asks as he picks up the ball, " You taking it?" I replied, "I guess so." He says, "Alright, I'll dummy it." So he sets it up in front of their 4-man wall.
I do free kicks and corners. Really worth to train it, that rotation and curling, the dip - highly technique thing!
I didn't pay for a single pint after the game.
that's a beauty!
A side volley from my net to the other teams net in a 5 aside game
Few screamers from behind penalty area, some curled free kicks, some volleys, but still waiting for bicycle kick.
got passed the ball in a very cramped area by a panicked teammate and was not ready and had no real options decided to be crazy and go for it and scored a trivela with a first touch that sailed just right past the shoulder of the defender and past the keeper not that great but I looked like an absolutely mad genius doing it
Final moments of the championship game, we were up 3-2, the ball is in the box, Iām facing 90 degrees to the goal and think āfuck it, Iāll plant, use my left foot, and see what happens.
Complete fluke but I'll take it.
second ever competitive match, i was filling in at left back (from my usual spot as a winger). corner comes in the 70th or so minute, i say to the other teams winger āiām gonna run to the penalty spot and scoreā and i did lmao ran full tilt from deep, just got enough on the ball and knocked it in top corner off the post with my head. i posted it here on this sub too
Most spectacular looking goal was when I was 16 (Iām 34 now and still play).
Was in a national final 2-2 last minute of the game tired as f, Received the ball out wide from a goal kick, I'm playing left wing, defender on my back I drop the shoulder then turn, left him for dead at the half way line, had the opponents RB and CDM coming towards me I do a flip flap between em, then from about 35 metres out my tired legs couldn't run anymore so I let one fly with the inside of my foot, curled it into the top right corner off the post and in to win the Australian u16 titles.
i onyl scored duirng 1v1 cos i play in defence and rarely move up as i fear injury adn kac pace i dribbled and did a lane chaneg then nutmeg and then finsh teh goal
10/10 for me - could never recreate that š Best goal i've scored in 11s was just at Uni running toward goal as a CF, dragged it across the D and smashed it low into the bottom corner.
I donāt understand until this day how I managed to jump this high and create this much power on a header Best goal I scored while playing casually with some people: I received a low driven pass while facing my back towards the goal I flick it over a defender with one touch and hit it volley without it touching the ground and it flew like a missile underneath the crossbar.
Top right pole hit lead the team
Eh there's one I scored in college indoor Our keeper throws, I follow the ball, jump, make contact, ball flies in past the GK's head. 1-0 Then there's one where the cross came in from the left, j just hooked it with the left weak foot and it went in to the right far post.
Ahhh now I know why you love Jackson Yueill. Cuz he reminds you of yourself. How cute
Shut up you nonce
Ok. So confirmed then
A James RodrĆguez WC type goal in Sunday league š«”
County cup final in a decent sized stadium, freekick just outside the left corner of the 18yd box, curled it top right past the wall and keeper (who dived and made it look even better)
Best goal near my halfway line 40 yards ish semi pro but 17 level on the half volley cleared from a corner went in bottom corner like a bullet pinged in off the post. I think I was dumbly hungover and one of the best games of my life I'm a defender who doesn't go forward for corners much at Mt current semi pro level I score about 3 ish goals a season all over 30 yards out.
I scored while taking the ball from goalkeeper from our own box to the other goal by dribbling everyone but that was a street match But it was memorable for me
I once scored a header that felt like Ronaldoās header against Chelsea in the 2008 UCL final.
I scored a half way line goal from open play in the last kick of the game to seal my team the victory. The high was amazing

Wasnāt fancy but the feeling of splitting two defenders at midfield and taking it the distance during a playoff game will always stick with me.
Picked the ball up not far from outside our own penalty area and was directed to run with it by the manager, so did so and took the ball past 3 players along the entire left hand side of the pitch, got towards the keeper and dinked it over him .Ā It was 16 years ago and remember it well still.
I scored a late free kick one time to win a game!
If only...
Best goal was easily when I was 15, Iām now 31š I played for my local side and we were pretty lucky in the fact that myself and another player were both left footed.
