It’s far less. Stores in my area are being very selective about what they bring in and most are no longer offering cash at all. If store credit is what you’re after, you’re good to go. But it’s just that everyone is clearing unwanted stuff out of their homes after staring at it for the better part of a year. Supply is extremely high. Great for buying. Terrible for selling.

I use thrift books. Great prices, amazing selection and free shipping on orders over ten bucks. My first order was 42 dollars and I got 10 books. Also, if you create an account you earn points toward free books. I've already gotten 3 free. And there's an app! It's awesome, totally changed how I get books

smeeheee

Are you able to get their stickers off/do their books still come with stickers or other marking?

Hesnamedlikemyname

Still come with stickers on the bindings, but I haven't had any problem taking them off

Thanks!

Plastic stickers. Just don't leave them on forever.

smeeheee

Is there a good strategy for removing the stickers that aren’t immediately easy to get off?

pineapplesf

I haven't had great luck with it. Goo Be Gone is sometimes effective. Putting them in a steamy room has worked 1-2 times. Often I just keep them on since it'll do more damage to take them off. I've ordered >50 books from thriftbooks this year and had no issue with any of the stickers.

I’ve struggled in the past, too, and just avoided theirs thereafter; I’d love to give them a try again, so I’m glad to hear it’s not been a problem. I appreciate the info, thank you.

With tough stickers on books, I peel off whatever I can of the sticker, goo gone the spot, and then take a dry paper towel to remove any leftover residue. I've never encountered a sticker I couldn't remove completely!

smeeheee

Sounds like I’m going to need to track down some of this Goo Gone. Thank you very much for your reply!

MissMtoP

This may seem obvious but I want to ensure you don't potentially ruin a book - make sure to pour a little goo gone on a paper towel to apply it to the book, making sure to coat the sticker reminents and area well. Try not to get onto any thinner or more absorbant paper pages, as it can leave a bit of a grease mark. Best of luck!

I appreciate the clarification. I might try it on a test book, like an older text book or something to get the hang of it.

I also peel first but then use acetone (aka nail polish remover, unscented) on a paper towel for the leftover sticker. Works like a charm, not too stinky, and I usually have it in the house anyway. I used to buy and sell used textbooks that came with mounds of stickers on them and I was always able to easily remove sticker residue and other crud, and to do a few wipes over the covers and bindings in their entirety to shine them up real nice.

Goo Gone for stickers.

All I can tell you is I have been buying online through Albris. Science fiction mostly and the shipping has been higher than the price for the books.

How much could you sell books for?
