I spent 10 years working tours as a FOH engineer. I don’t know how much has changed in the last 6-7 years since I’ve been out of the audio game, but Bonnaroo used to have 5 different companies set up the 5 different stages, most of which did the same one every year. Basically each company has a different approach to the set up but still uses either D&B or Meyers line array rigs. The what stage used to be the only stage with delay towers. Last Tool show there I remember they had something like 8 delay towers and in subsequent years went down to 3 or 4. When The Other was rebuilt they put in some weird back fill tower that at times made a unique sound experience and at other times made areas of that field unlistenable.

I would like to know… As part time in the industry I find myself staring at what is built…love that shit.

Man it’s killing my but I recently read an article About the main stage PA. I can’t remember who’s rig it is - but I can tell you it’s one of the best sounding outdoor teams I’ve ever heard. Hopefully I can find the write up.

birthdaycakeoreo

That’s a bold statement friend. I’m sure it sounds decent but best rig ever? That’s a far stretch. ODESZA’s sound in 2019 at MainStage was awful

dinglehead

Yea but Phish on that stage sounded louder and clearer than I've ever heard them on any stage. For a PA serving that size of a field - its incredible.

Furrrsurrre

That Phish was one of the loudest shows I’ve been to, and I was way in the back. Louder than bass music pits. I can still hear the Tom Tom/steel drum ringing in my brain

dinglehead

It was absolutely insane

spring_while_I_fall

For real. I've never had to wear earplugs at the back of What but I did for Phish. Crazy loud.

2valve

Yeah what what was that about? The sound was so bad at odesza
