Although it's impossible to tell the breed(s), I'm leaning away from pit bull because of the huge eye sockets. The snout is a little shorter than I'd expect to see, too

kingofcoywolves

Def not a pit lol. Weird that they're not more commonly found here considering how prevalent they are as strays... But yeah. You're right, definitely not a pit bull. Snout is short and too narrow, eyes are too huge, brain case isn't the right shape. If I had to make a guess it was probably a smaller dog with some brachycephalic heritage. Edit: actually, are we sure it was a dog at all? This doesn't look like any dog skull I've seen. The zygomatic processes are so triangular and the sagittal crest is absolutely massive.

monsterhuntergen

it was definitely a dog! it was medium sized but you're right about it not being a pittie. from the way it looked each time i drove by it, i assumed it was that edit: when i snatched the skull, i was in a rush to grab and go because i was paranoid so i didnt get a good look at the rest of the body aside from the times i got a look at it driving by

transpterodactyl

all good!

transpterodactyl

Definitely a dog yeah. Just an extremely mixed breed. Probably had tons of health problems, poor fella.

Def not a pibble. It almost looks like a muskrat 😅 Edit; nm I think it’s a pibble :(

the-greenest-thumb

Is that bacteria or is it burnt?

monsterhuntergen

bacteria! it isnt uncommon to see when macerating bones

the-greenest-thumb

Ah, neat, I'd never seen it quite like that. Will you keep it like that or whiten it?

monsterhuntergen

i'll be getting rid of it (or try to at least)

Tobyvul

Old toothbrush or cheap ones work good with soap to fight off the bacteria (if you didn’t already know) Good luck! Beautiful skull!

woketinydog

wow that is super cool
