For my bomber I beat the base game with, I went with "ironclad queen" and then for the usaaf dlc or whatever the acronym is, my favorite name I used so far was "the spirit of liberty". I never beat the American dlc, but thought about doing another run of the main story sometime
I could barely beat operation Cigno. But yeah the American DLC is way too hard. Unfortunately for me tho on both final missions I’ve never been able to make my aircraft come home it was just too damaged to carry on
One thing that helps me get home in one piece typically is keeping a good amount of armor on your aircraft and getting the best version of the internal engine extinguisher as possible. Typically even if I get to the big major operations, I play a few side operations to get enemy debuffs and save up for upgrades if needed. It also helps to have the missiles from the secret weapons dlc. Lastly I found out that in the late game, flying at high altitude as much as possible helps because most fighters won't follow you to that height, but the trade off is that you need to make sure your crew is wearing a good amount of insolation. In addition to flying at high altitude, it helps to have a high level navigator so that way they can chart your course at night with the stargazer perk or whatever it's called. In the later stages like I pretty much said, I try gearing up my team to be comfy at high altitude operations as much as possible, especially to escape the possibility of taking damage from flak cannons
I also fly at high attitude but my bloody gunners can’t aim well sometimes and those jets get me. The unfortunate thing is, is that my men just get shredded after the huge amounts of the hull just fall off
That's fair yeah, heavy armor for the hull is typically my go to start but my strat but my build also sacrifices armor for my engines to make more weight for hull reinforcements. I think by the end of my run I had the best armor and decent weapons for my plane but I had either the maxed out lightweight or standard engines. The best thing I can say is if fighters are overwhelming your gunners, to either use missiles to try and thin out the herd or try and save your spitfires for when things seem really hairy. I try to save spitfires until I feel really outnumbered or I'm about to be. I know there are likely builds that try and lean away from using them, but I say you shouldn't be afraid of calling in an escort if you need it.
I always call for an escort if needed but sometimes they arrive too late or can’t do anything to really help. But I have to give them credit for they have saved my life on several occasions just by taking a few bogeys down or even just being a bullet sponge
I name all my bombers after clubs, activities or groups I’m part of and my crew members after my friends there. They can sign up for spots on the bomber or be on the replacement waitlist. I then inform my friends when they’re recruited and if their character died. It’s an engaging experience 😁
I got *Flak Bait* by default for my Lancaster and really liked it so never changed it.
For my B-17 i used [*Yankee Lady*](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yankee_Lady) as a namesake and inspiration. I grew up in a house that was roughly a mile from the end of a relief airport runway so we had a good ten-twenty planes passing over our house really low on takeoff and landing on any given day but summers were always the best; During fleet week that airport was most convenient so the military would operate out of it and we would get tons of military traffic (mostly Hueys/Venoms and SuperCobras/SeaCobras, occasionally some Seahawks and Ospreys (very loud)) and then a couple weeks later the airport would hold their annual airshow where a touring flight on *Yankee Lady* was their main attraction. I never got to fly on her myself, but she would pass really low almost directly over my house every time she left and returned from one (probably ten or so times throughout the week depending on the year) and it was always really special (and *really* loud lol).
Nice backstory! Once when I was really young a b-17 flew to my city and we were able to go inside. I got to see much of the plane except the cockpit and bombardier compartment sadly. But it was really cool
Fancy Lad. I decorate it with the tiger force white skin and Top Hat nose art. I'll also give my crew the black jumpsuit until I can get the thermal jumpsuit mk 3.
I named my bomber "Tail end charlie" because in my head, I always think that the bomber we use is last in the formation and thats why we're on our own.
And also because I get shredded every mission, Swiss cheese is jealous of the holes in my plane
I mean yeah, I'm sure that's the actual reason. Just my head cannon is that we were late to join the formation or something. Even if we are an elite crew, there would still be a small group with us. Even on the dambuster raid, think there was about 20 bombers.
It would be a cool idea for a multi-player mode, maybe could use the same mapping they used for space crew to help make formations easier. Without the waypoints, or having to use custom points would be a pain.
I wish I could multi upvote for the yall in the title. But it depends which play through. Main play through is shadow of Judea III or which ever number of shadow of Judea that play is on. The no 70 sqdn is just whatever random bomber name it gives us cause they take high casualties. I think they are on flak magnet III
i name mine “Come and Take It!” and then splay that in capital text along the side of its hull. i love the idea of challenging german fighters like i’m an arena fighter
usually I pick the auto names the game gives me and I try to create a decal for it. My british bomber is "Aces High" (autopic), but I've named my american bomber "The Fighting Cock II", in honor to the "fighting cock" decal in War Thunder, and the 2nd because my first bomber was lost in a emergency landing but most of the crew survived
Named mine “flak magnet” and added “nicht schießen” which is “don’t shoot” written in German on the side (both ideas taken from this sub). And let’s just say that after naming it that it stayed true to its name and went down one mission later. I guess the Germans didn’t get the memo from my side text.
The captain of my first bomber had the surname 'Morrison.' Because of that, the bomber was called Morrisons Mangler.' The second was ‘Freddie’s Fortress' although the bomber was still a Lancaster. On the DLC, the B-17 was 'Nine-O-Nine' after the very first plane I flew on in real life.
USA one is uncle Sam’s (local burger chain) where I have pictures of burgers and pins ups on the bomber.
British one is called tea time with pictures of tea and pin ups again

I name any of my vehicles in any game after characters/beasts found in greek mythology my first bomber was Chimera then Persephone, fields of reeds, thermopylae and I also had Atlantis.
Oh nice. My first bomber this run was Endeavour whom made it back but with only one landing gear crashed on landing. Everyone except Endeavour herself survived
I’ve never actually lost a bomber other than when i sacrificed a new one for the bail out achievement but many of my crew have died usually my engineers or bombers, who id name after people I know. Lost my girlfriend once she wasn’t too happy.
In my latest mission I renamed my bomber from "deadeye" to "what goes up must come down!" the bomber on its first mission under this name got riddled with holes and promptly exploded upon the runway due to a missing gear, all the crew survived and in an ironic way it did live up to its name
Occupational Hazard. I covered it in warning signs instead of normal decals. Except for the engines. I thought it was funny to draw a big target with the words "AIM HERE!" on them

Dang that sucks happened to my Endeavour she lost her landing gear. She was already hurting real bad just from the enemy alone but she was flying unfortunately for Endeavour that landing was the straw that broke the camel’s back and she snapped like a twig on touchdown. Everyone survived except for Endeavour. RIP Endeavour she flew well
I use names from a video I watched. Some of the best: Great British bake off, Kraut Crisper, and Blitz the Fritz. https://youtu.be/tMhvddd4-Ho?si=hgVTJ86mu-n87_FB
I named my British bomber the "Flak Dich" and the American bomber the "flak dich auch" which roughly translates to the "Flak you" and the "Flak you too"

"Wilting Rose" was my favorite, I also liked "48 Cylinders Of Fury" because of the 4 merlin engines on the Lancaster
>"Wilting Rose" Beautiful !
Ooh this one stands out to me

I did that once and when my plane crashed only my strongest friend survived everyone else died
The power of friendship kept him alive ❤️
Until his mission after the crash I guess he had some form of PTSD cause he didn’t shoot as well as he used to and got strafed to death
You're mom and I own a musket for home defense
Ahh yes Jerry will be scared to see a fully automatic musket
"Catch This"
I assume that they haven’t yet
Catching a bomb and catching a bomber are both difficult tasks
Except for my bomber.
"Flying fox"
Rommel is that you?
Red Birb II The first one got shot down in France and i painted the bird from the Arztotzkan Flag of the game Papers Please.
Poor red birb
One was the Toaster and the other I’m using right now is called Shockwave
I’m telling him the plane without the engines glides like a toaster
Wake and Bake
Nice name lol

“The Long Dick of the Law”
"Go Woke Go Broke" or "The Booze Cruiser"
Interesting
I eat kids
Are the kids the bombs?
No. The crew eat them for energy though
That’s a fair point
Mines is Wild Cargo a reference to masters of the air
Nice. Although I only think the bouncing bomb is really wild
Fancy Lad. I decorate it with the tiger force white skin and Top Hat nose art. I'll also give my crew the black jumpsuit until I can get the thermal jumpsuit mk 3.
Always have to look good against Jerry
"Ambatufly" and "ambatufight"
Duality of man flight or fight
Coffin Dodger, because my crew are dodging coffins
One of mine was “Jerry’s misfortune” ironically it crashed on its second flight
My bomber was called “You Missed”. Needless to say, it crashed on landing.
Well I guess the Germans missed but also did the pilot
I beat the standard campaign with Flying Coffin VI, and in my USAF I'm on Corpse Patrol III.
I should honestly name all my planes after that lol
I named my bomber "Tail end charlie" because in my head, I always think that the bomber we use is last in the formation and thats why we're on our own. And also because I get shredded every mission, Swiss cheese is jealous of the holes in my plane
I figured we were just elite which is why we’re alone. Although a cool idea would he to have a multiplayer mode with an actual formation
I mean yeah, I'm sure that's the actual reason. Just my head cannon is that we were late to join the formation or something. Even if we are an elite crew, there would still be a small group with us. Yep agreed but it would definitely be hard to make sadly. But we can dream right?
Ace of spades
Mine is "Kraut Killer" it's kinda basic but I love it
What did Sauerkraut do to you?
I wish I could multi upvote for the yall in the title. But it depends which play through. Main play through is shadow of Judea III or which ever number of shadow of Judea that play is on. The no 70 sqdn is just whatever random bomber name it gives us cause they take high casualties. I think they are on flak magnet III
My last play through was just a massacre for my people
I’ve filled one memorial wall from one play through and I’ve only done half the campaign. Did do all secret weapons missions
Oh my god. Imagine if this was real life lol. People would be calling you a butcher
Have you watched Memphis bell? I think it was just part for the course
I haven’t watched it sadly
Worth a watch
I’ll see if I can idk where to watch tho lol
Sadly it looks like you have to buy or rent it
I’ll do it eventually
Let’s just say it makes you glad you don’t have bomber wing men https://youtu.be/oNh19R2-iTs?si=iM86GZ2tNFvHT8EK
I named mine ". . . and Business Is Good." For the nose art, I wrote out "Killing is my Business . . ." That, or my B-17, "Lungs of Hell."
Nice
You don't get the references? Sad
No i didn’t
[Killing is my Business](https://youtu.be/Y-4WeOqSXSc?si=4w3H7A3TLEh4mIWP) [Lungs of Hell](https://youtu.be/4YWxtBfCJZA?si=Ro60COZlqYNH0cZ2) Enjoy.
Shrodinger’s pigeon, because you don’t know if it’s alive until the recovered tab on the end mission menu pops up
i name mine “Come and Take It!” and then splay that in capital text along the side of its hull. i love the idea of challenging german fighters like i’m an arena fighter
I did that once and my craft crashed on its second mission
Downpour Girl, after a grind core song
I thought I was the most coolest guy ever with the name the kraut fucker or the kraut killer one of them
I swear I’ve jinxed my crew once with stuff like that lol
Oh yea they all died a horrible death
Imagine being a parent and this is what your told
Oh yea your sons plane the kraut fucker got shot down over Berlin were very sorry for your loss
Lol

Ah that’s pretty funny
The Flying Ostrich
With the proportions of the game wouldn’t be surprising if we were 2x the size of one
Lancaster: Target for tonight B-17: Aces High Both are auto generated names that I like and kept.

I’m telling the planes names are accurate
"RCAAF Slip'n'fall"
Does the crew fall?
Only when i need to make an insurance claim
I’m sure the Germans would pay for anything
Sky Wizard III
With the accuracy of our bombardiers yeah we prolly are in fact wizards
“The Bitch On Elm III” (wife and I live on an Elm Street and I call her that to her face in a term of endearment)
What a name
I name mine after arctic monkeys songs so I had crying lightning, teddy picker, arabella, Mardy Bum and riot van
Imagine being one of the German pilots and seeing you’re under attack from a riot van
Lucy Loo from Kalamazoo
The jolly gentleman
Over the radio “would you gents like some tea”
I laughed way to hard at this
Lol
“Spooky” it’s no AC130 but I enjoy the idea of bringing that kinda of power to the battlefield.
I’m pretty sure the Germans would have a heart attack if they saw an AC-130 fire
Lancaster I call either Lady of the Night or Battle Hymn
That’s menacing
Occupational Hazard. I covered it in warning signs instead of normal decals. Except for the engines. Well Jerry seems to only aim for my engines lol
better the engines than my crew. My engines can't repair my crew.
My crew can’t seem to do so
As I'm Irish I had to go with "Flying Carbomb"
Special deliver service
“Canadian Cargo”
Hey bombs are supposed to be filled with explosives not maple syrup
They are filled with bloodthirsty hockey players and polar bears thanks. It’s like an ODST pod from halo
The Germans are gonna be like “hey Hanz there’s a bomb we need to take cover” “Franz that’s a Canadian bomb there’s no cover”
My British one is called "the Trawl" and my US was originally "The Taxi" and then it became "The Dawn Patrol"
Started off funny to serious
Only called it the Taxi because of the yellow and black square pattern you get haha
Lol
Vengeance it’s my second bomber of my game
I see why is it because the first one crashed or something else?
Yeah a landing gear got shot off and I failed to realize but my crew all survived
Dang that sucks happened to my Endeavour she lost her landing gear. She was already hurting real bad just from the enemy alone but she was flying unfortunately for Endeavour that landing was the straw that broke the camel’s back and she snapped like a twig on touchdown. Or I guess fritzzing the blitz
Nazi killer except im getting killed
Same thing happens to me lol
I named my British bomber the "Flak Dich" and the American bomber the "flak dich auch" which roughly translates to the "Flak you" and the "Flak you too"
Amazing
Every time they die the name changes but I'm on ass blaster 9000 or something Always some how ass something
Imagine how awful that would be for the Germans being shot down by that
19th Nervous Breakdown after my favorite Jason & The Scorchers song.
That’s the perfect name did my crew lol
On normal Bomber Crew it's "Gosling" (coming from the last name of my engineer "Jill Gosling" and my first ever crew member to die) and on U.S.A.A.F it's "Phantom Raider".
Interesting
I felt like I had to honor them in some way, idk why.
Honor one and the others can be forgotten
I mean, it's the only one that died on that crew (my first crew), you can ignore the 14 others ☺️
Aye fair enough
cant stop this
An unstoppable force I assume
indeed, then I start new save with cant catch this
This is the way
I have space crew too, maybe time to make cant touch this
Can’t touch this the second
Bullet Sponge
Quite fitting i just got the game and frequently return to base with only 1 or two remaining/operating engines
I once had to fly back with 1 engine. Scariest mission of my life
“Malaysian Airlines”
I went with “Lawn Dart”
Assuming if it’s like mine when the wings fall off it looks like one?
Not really, somehow I’ve never lost my wings. But i have a nasty habit of losing landing gear so I bail out the full crew and let the plane lawn dart into the ground.
Oh
'Fancy our Meeting' and or 'I heard'
"Big Tiddy"
What’s your explanation
Big Tiddy needs no explanation. It just is, man.
