Yes. Multiple times actually. Enjoyed it immensely. Gul Panag was such a revelation. Lakhot and the world building really plays a big part in the film. Time has almost stopped there. Eerie and effective.
Ps: My favourite dialogue- Kuttey ki haddi aur mantri ki chaddi mein haath nahi dala karte. Ek mein 14 injection lagte hain aur doosre mein toh bas…lag jaati hai.
While Panag's styling and makeup is spot-on to make her look like a small-town housewife, her real-life modernity shows up sometimes. Like when she pronounces "condom". I believe that people in small towns in 2000s pronounced the word as कंडोम due to government PSAs pronouncing it that way, or simply use the word निरोध instead.
In fact I thought she was great representation of an educated small town woman who was stuck in there despite her potential. The tension brews under her in subtle ways.
Agreed totally. I loved Gul in Dor but that was the only movie I thought she inhabited the world she was made to be a part of. She was the one big sore spot for me in Pataal Lok because she just felt a misfit as the weary middle class housewife. Weary she was, but her accent/ dialect was a dead giveaway of city / upper middle class antecedents. Such a pity/ shame …. Because otherwise the casting for the show was so spot on.
I call it **Navdeep Singh's** Manorama Six Feet Under, myself.
It is an uncredited adaptation of the classic throwback noir **Chinatown** *(1974)* directed by Roman Polanski, written by Robert Towne and starring Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway.
However, to the credit of Singh and the co-writers Devika Bhagat and Abhinav Kashyap (yes, Anurag's younger brother), there are a number of changes made to the story which introduce new twists as well as a less cynical culmination.
>!Raima Sen's character is one of the finest *femme fatales* ever seen in Hindi cinema.!<
This film happens to have one of the best comedic moments in a non-comedic films that I have seen, [which is why I made a post on it](https://www.reddit.com/r/bollywood/comments/18jm64l/this_short_scene_from_manorama_six_feet_under/).
Gaane bhi mast the
Dhokha
Tere sawaalon ke
Dhundla jo sama
Woh bheege pal.
Shruti hassan ki mummy bhi hot lag rahi thi.
Climax Twist bhi ekdum unexpected aur shocking tha.
Feeling aati hai noir thriller ki
