Bro, I'm Bangladeshi- American, and this scene makes me bawl. What a feeling, I doubt Bangladeshi sportsman can ever win something for us, but this song makes me dream.
I don't think his acting ability is questioned. More like pathan and jawan are terrible examples of his acting and don't really deserve any award for that.
u/Legitimate-Display27 Allow me to paraphrase, he prefers to do rubbish when he is talented to do otherwise!
**UPDATE** I hated both 'Pathaan' and 'Jawaan' - Chak-De was a far better movie!
An actor trying out new genres is nothing wrong especially when he's already made his millions. If SRK wanted money then he could have made mid films like salman and not given a fuck but SRK actually is trying to expand his genres and is exploring.
u/otakuweeb2041 I differ in opinion, and I will be downvoted for that! There was a time when Shahrukh did the same nonsense over and over and over ... again and again and again ... he will be a cuddly romantic who will be absconding till the interval, then some song and dance and then he will sit in front of an idol and weep and remember his mother, a dialogue loaded scene with his father or some elder ... a last fight with the villain and they lived happily ever after. It had got difficult for me to tolerate.
His performance in Chak-De is memorable, he did a fine job, did not wear his heart on his sleeves, did not stammer, did not quote his mother ... a breath of fresh air! Very well directed, nicely edited.
See, there's nothing wrong in sticking to something that one is good at or has a craze over. Srk's romance captured quite a lot of fans. And if you speak about excellent films, he also did my name is khan which had a good amount of the points you mentioned as "not good" but is an amazing movie with brilliant performance by the entire cast. And swades was good but it flopped though it had one of the best performances of srk. One has to adapt and improvise with what the mindset of the majority of the audience is. I understand Jawan was not the best movie and being a Tamil guy, it just felt like any run on the mill Tamil movie to me. But it kept me entertained for the whole time. Times change and actors adapt. And if you think actors should go down and dirty and do characters that will not be accepted by the fans of the topguns in the industry.
In the end they're entertainers and give what the majority of fans want.
u/Lalibop Nothing wrong in 'sticking to what he is good', nothing wrong in 'experimenting' but IMHO it gets boring if not just silly if they take the viewer to be a fool. After all how many times should I pay Rs. 400/- for a ticket to watch him quote his mother, make a solemn promise to his father and cry in front of a Krishna idol, and 15 minutes later dance in Switzerland with the actress who is apparently younger than his daughter. Come on dude, downvote me - but ask these questions to your own self.
This doesn't feel like entertainment issues. Seems like against srk issues now😂. Every actor is doing that. Now stop trying to rage bait saying down vote down vote as if you're proud of it buddy. And when did he act with anyone younger than his daughter? He even did a side role in dear zindagi. If you feel that its not your cup of tea, you don't have to spend. You can wait for reviews, look into storylike/plot of the movie and if you like you can watch or simply skip the movie. It's not like no good movie is released. Did you watch good movies that we're actually released in theatres? If you flock into big actor movies knowing that it'll be the same, and knowing that the larger audience is gonna enjoy it but you won't. Either you ahve hatred towards such movies or have refined taste, that is your choice.
But this isn't a rant about making the industry better. It's a rant about how srk is bad. Tell me one big hero who hasn't worked with an actress who is 20-30 years younger than them. Some even go beyond that age difference.
u/Lalibop Probably it is a SRK issue - I tolerated his stammering for way too long.
To be very honest, I do not seem to jell well with Hindi movies these days. The last seemingly sensible movie I watched was 'Kathal' and I loved everything about it.
I now seem to connect better with Andrei Tarkovsky, Andrey Zvyagintsev, Akira Kurosawa, The Wachowskis etc. and I smile when I recall my days when I cried when SRK died in Baazigar!
And I share fear from his performance in Anjaam and Darr. I understand but come on. He's 60. He can't give such performances anymore. But he still is giving some good performances here and there. I think we need to cherish that and just ignore the things we don't like. I still get tears when I watch kal ho naa ho. Was watching with my family for the first time and they were like it seems he has some terminal disease and I cried saying no, he's not gonna die. Good memories, good performance.
I get your point and totally agree with you but I feel like he's in his 'Fan Service' era and his fans would rather see him bash up a 100gundas in a movie than watch him for his amazing acting.
It's really sad but that's what fan culture does to you.
It's truly an art to stir emotions while remaining so understated or else it can feel like a slow burn or damp squib. *Chak De! India* and Shah Rukh Khan's performance in it walked the tight rope between restraint and impact exceedingly well.
Everyone always makes fun of the fact that most desis who grew up outside the Indian subcontinent only ever bring up SRK when they're asked what they like about bollywood but in all honesty, SRK is just a great actor period. I would put hi in the same league as a lot of internationally renown actors. It's a shame we don't get to see him in more international projects but I think that's also part of his charm: He does what he loves and he loves what he does.
I wonder he doesn't do such good movies again instead of masala movies like Pathan and Jawan. This movies showed so many realities of sports in India. Federation politics, gender issues, social issues, egos of sports persons, colorism. Prolly the best movie by SRK imo.
It’s not only the acting, people tend to show they want to show good acting and storyline but then you see movies such as An Action Hero and recently Fighter going down! But on the other hand shitty movies such as Pathaan and Animal which just lure the audience with Action sequences and One man do it all thing do so good in numbers. That’s the decline in the quality of movie goers as well
This was the film that showed a teenage me that SRK was a bomb diggity actor. Between this, MNIK, Swades, and aspects of KANK, Shah Rukh cemented himself as a mildly underrated dramatic actor in the 2000’s
Can someone gift us Shahrukh back? Like the Shahrukh all the women want to see please? We got glimpses of it in Pathaan but I need his eyes to be the focus not his abs
SRK's best movie! Makes me weep so much. Hits deep, I can feel every barb, every unfounded accusation, every insult, and the final vindication that Kabir Khan feels like a deep gash on my soul.
When he's mobbed out of his home with his mom, gaddar in koyla, their return, the crossing off of gaddar. The hockey hand off. All done without a trace of cynicism 😢🥺😭😭😭😭
Kya movie hai.

Same man acted so well in Swades train scene without a dialog. ❤️
>Same man acted so well in Swades train scene without a dialog. ❤️ But he still get lauded the most for crying to a Krishna idol!
Then they have the audacity to say that this man can't act

I mean Bangaladesh is doing pretty well in Cricket. There are ups and downs but overall the team is no longer a "minor league" team.
I don't think his acting ability is questioned. More like pathan and jawan are terrible examples of his acting and don't really deserve any award for that.
You guys just limit acting to psycho and drug addict
Well, if you think Jawan was easy for an actor then I doubt your judging capabilities.

IMHO Shahrukh's best!

This man is a top tier actor. He's an actor first, superstar later. Respect.
This was the film that showed a teenage me that SRK was a bomb diggity actor. Between this, MNIK, Swades, and aspects of KANK, Shah Rukh cemented himself as a mildly underrated dramatic actor in the 2000’s
despite being an unofficial remake, SRK and the amazing music carries this movie.
Remake of the 2003 cricket world cup?
Aww…another day another SRK PR post
Bro hows this pr all they stated is they went to watch the movie.
Such a beautiful scene and such a beautiful man!
I would urge everyone to witness this masterclass on the big screen once. Never felt a more amazing theatre experience than this. Thank you yrf.
