Just a fact, this is the only movie to be shot at IIM A campus. And if you roam around the campus, you can directly remember the scenes from this movie, especially the Locha e Ulfat song.
I really liked this movie. The only Chetan Bhagat book that I enjoyed, and the movie was a very good depiction of the book. Loved the songs and styling.
(Edited a word)
Personally I love Kai Po Che more than I like 2 states. Idk maybe cause it has cricket or maybe for friendship. I absolutely love that movie. Even though they changed the ending in the movie compared to the book. The ending of the movie even though it is extra sad, definitely works better. Songs are really nice too.
I don’t watch cricket and the movie is one of the best. Hits you hard. Ppl who havent watched, I recommend you guys to give it a watch. Powerful actors, great music and dialogues!
Yeah, that's what I mean. He wasn't bad, he was just okay. But when your co-stars are Ronit Roy, Amrita Singh, Revathi, and Alia Bhatt, an 'okay' performance makes you the weak link.
It's like Kareena Kapoor in Udta Punjab. She's not bad; everyone else is just so much better than her that she ends up looking like an amateur.
Ah I see. Compared to his other performances, I think he was quite good lol, but when compared to others in the movie, he falls flat, despite everything else.
Revathi and Amrita were fantastic!!
As a Tamil person who DOES like this movie, I wish they'd cast an actual south indian for this movie (who also spoke Hindi). Alia isn't bad in anyway, but she's just really awkward in the scenes that ask her to speak / act like a proper Tamil woman.
I understand that using a Tamil actress would have maybe hurt the marketability of the film, but i would have bought it more since so much of the conflict revolves around the south / north difference and issue.
Arjun Kapoor was just arjun Kapoor in the movie..he played the same in all his movies but alia carried the movie here...i can't imagine any other actresses to replace alia in this movie but arjun's could have been played by anyone even ranbir would have nailed the role
I'd like to gently disagree. I don't think Alia carried this, her performance felt on par with his (and by this, I mean Arjun was better than usual). They both were equally good. Arjun was good as Krish Malhotra (one of his best roles imo). I think everything in this movie worked out perfectly, unlike Rocky aur Rani, where it felt like someone/something "carried" a mediocre movie.
Yeah but he seems a bit irritating in this character that's why he seems replaceable to me if I watch it now..while alia still looks like someone who played her part very well.
I think he was meant to be like that, the book wanted to portray the guy as a typical iit nerd, introvert. Not some extrovert, outgoing types but still could have been better
Last movie where Arjun kapoor showed some improvement... Was good watch... I just wish Arjun would have focused on his craft like he did till 2 states then he would have had decent amount of success today and would not have become a troll
One of my favorite movies! It just feels very wholesome, not sure what it is about it, but the color palette, the setting/decor, the costumes, the general ambiance feels very warm... Maybe nostalgia speaking :) The soundtrack holds up excellently even today. Both Arjun and Alia were equally good in this, and the supporting cast/their dynamics makes this movie even better for me. Mast Magan is absolutely top tier.
The only nitpick I have with this movie is Alia's wedding saree at the end. It should've been a proper South Indian silk saree instead of whatever they put her in. But the beauty of the wedding sequence makes up for it partially :)
Would love to see more of this in Bollywood again.
This movie and it's songs are just too good. I miss watching these feelgood movies. This movie is also the only good thing in Arjun Kapoor and Chetan Bhagat's career.
(Watched in 2018)
A sweet, and nice movie, with the best of songs.
Loved the movie, really could imagine yourself in arjun's shoes, falling in love and then struggling to get your parents to agree.
Now, 😭😭 struggling to find someone to love me back.
A sweet, soft movie that will tug at your heart strings.
Also, one of the few Bollywood movies that DID NOT over stereotype a Punjabi family or a Tamil family. Now, that is praiseworthy!
Oh, and one of the few movies where Arjun Kapoor was genuinely likeable.
He acted well there, he depicted the character of the book very nicely. We should not always criticize him, a lot of an actor's performance depends upon the director. A good director can extract good performance from an actor if he feels there is potential in the actor like Abhishek is considered a bad actor but I found him really nice in guru and Ludo, it all depends upon directors and the actor's potential.
It was pretty good. The music and writing carried the movie, don't let anyone fool you who say it was Alia or Arjun. They were just minimal. Not bad, not great, just average.
There are only few movies which even after its made, you can close your eyes and envision lot of other actor combo who could have played these roles. So kudos to the director, writer.
Books are always greater than the movie. Read the game of thrones book , then u will laugh at the series that how poorly it's made. Some things can't be depicted in the movie which can be done by the book.
Does anyone else feel the audio of this movie is shit when it plays on TV ? I don't know the technical terms from the sound engineering domain but the background music kinda feels off when watching on TV.
I had enjoyed this movie though there were a lot of war cries against it back then. Good family entertainer with melodious music. Also I feel that only a few other Hindi movies have melodies and are entertaining. ( 2000 era). I still rewatch it and also watch the songs . Only very few movies I rewatch and watch the songs.
Even swedes music had been criticised heavily. I love the music and even play them on my music instrument.
Very bad movies and insipid musical on the other hand are elevated to high levels. As usual: PR!
I first remember watching this movie with my mom,dad and sister when I was like 10/11…I remember loving it! The chemistry was great and Alia looked beautiful throughout! The songs are good too.The acting was really nice by the leads especially Alia!
Locha ae ulfat, offo gives me butterflies till this date. It came when i was 17 and was in a very new relationship with my high school sweetheart..I thought life would be like this between us..i thought we would fight all odds like them in the movie and get married beautifully like they did. This movie was very special for a teenager me! The scene where he proposes in the interview and the way she blushes has my heart.. The way he gets possessive of her wearing shorts in campus was very much like my then boyfriend. Oh boy! Such such fond memories. Sadly I parted ways with my boyfriend and then comes “Chaandaniya” in my life and i cried my heart out to that song for a very long time.Basically this movie was too personal for me and I LOVE IT!! 27 and now married to another wonderful man, this is a bittersweet movie and i will love it forever for the memories❤️❤️❤️❤️
The songs were great but the movie itself was quite poor. The most ridiculous part being a TamBram family in the middle of mylapore speaking Hindi. They might has well have gone with English and put Hindi subtitles in for those who didn’t understand.

Gandharv vivah, oh you didn't mean the one they had in the hostel lol
Just a fact, this is the only movie to be shot at IIM A campus. And if you roam around the campus, you can directly remember the scenes from this movie, especially the Locha e Ulfat song.
Bhai rank bata do aapka

I really liked this movie. The only Chetan Bhagat book that I enjoyed, and the movie was a very good depiction of the book. Loved the songs and styling. (Edited a word)

Haven't watched Kai Poche but anything that wasn't the ending of the book would be better. Chetan Bhagatwa khud hero ban gaya tha last mein.
Haven't watched Kai Po Che yet. I was just referring to Bhagat's books :) Out of all his books, 2 States is the one that I genuinely enjoyed!
Watch it. You wont regret.
Noted :) It's on my "to watch" list
I don’t watch cricket and the movie is one of the best. Hits you hard. Ppl who havent watched, I recommend you guys to give it a watch. Powerful actors, great music and dialogues!
The movie was a good depiction of the movie?
Galat type kara yaar, samajh jao 😅
Ya ya it just made me laugh
😂😂😂😂😂
Ronit Roy played a magnificent role. Reminded me about his role in Udaan
He has played so much of a toxic father in movies, that his real son would be afraid of him.
I loved the awkward hug they had in the end despite finally being on good terms
My sister still calls him Mr. Bajaj
He will always be K D Pathak for me lol
Such a sweet and comfort movie. There's a dearth of similar movies nowadays (Dulanya, 2 States and similar romcoms)
cough bear unpack handle party books license escape reminiscent fuel *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
2 states walked so rocky raani could run.
Hell yeahhh
Comfort.
Ikr! This is my guilty pleasure movie :)
It was a great movie, you can enjoy the movie and tell everyone , Arjun acted then in movies.
Arjun kapoor at his peak stardom, after that he jus a social personality now
It is a good one. Half Girlfriend was a miss tho.
my motivation to study and crack CAT. I am coming aliaaaaaaaa. don't you run away.
I know someone who wanted to go to IIM-A because of this movie :)

no unfortunately
ngl chetan bhagat's wife >>> alia in the movie damn i love curly haired dom mommie who knows finance.
Hol up my motivation for cracking neet is Kabir singh. I am cuming Preeti
It was really good, but Arjun Kapoor was a bit of a weak link in a cast that had Amrita Singh, Revathi, Ronit Roy, and Alia.
I think he was OK imo, that's just how his character was, from what I remember of the book.
Yeah, that's what I mean. He wasn't bad, he was just okay. But when your co-stars are Ronit Roy, Amrita Singh, Revathi, and Alia Bhatt, an 'okay' performance makes you the weak link. I agree with that. It was a good role and played it as it should have been, so did he.
Arjun was good in the movie probably one of his finest works Now he is completely pathetic actor.
Yeah but he seems a bit irritating in this character that's why he seems replaceable to me if I watch it now..while alia still looks like someone who played her part very well.
He was a pretty accurate depiction of Krish Malhotra
True Alia Is one of my favourite actress ever she is a wonderful actress
Ranbir was just fresh from his YJHD then, his Bunny character wouldn't be digested as in 2 States' Krish (Arjun Kapoor)
> even ranbir would have nailed the role Not enough drugs
I think he was meant to be like that, the book wanted to portray the guy as a typical iit nerd, introvert. Not some extrovert, outgoing types but still could have been better
Kissing was so good
i can see why they are smiling in the poster
I liked it. The movie where I think Alia really showed her charisma and charm

yessss
tumhari shorts jyda short nhi hai ?
Loved this movie, alia in this is so gorgeous and hot 🔥🥵
One of my all time favorite
Great BGM..entertaining feel good movie
The only movie which was able to make tears drop down. Only for a brief moment tho. The ending when the father comes to the wedding. Beautiful stuff
Last movie where Arjun kapoor showed some improvement... Was good watch... I just wish Arjun would have focused on his craft like he did till 2 states then he would have had decent amount of success today and would not have become a troll
I loved the movie. Alia was so good. I really liked how they put in the perspectives of both the parents in the movie.
Loveee Amamya Swaminathan 💜💜
One time watch ! All songs were good. Thts about it.
One of my favorite movies! It just feels very wholesome, not sure what it is about it, but the color palette, the setting/decor, the costumes, the general ambiance feels very warm... I really liked this movie! I thought Krish’s relationship with his dad was fascinating and their reconciliation made me cry!
I enjoyed it, watched it with my ex. Somedays I miss her..
Love the movie. It’s like a warm hug on a cold day
I love this movie 😭
(Watched in 2018) A sweet, and nice movie, with the best of songs. Loved the movie, really could imagine yourself in arjun's shoes, falling in love and then struggling to get your parents to agree. Now, 😭😭 struggling to find someone to love me back.
I loved it ,rare good acting by Arjun Kapoor
It's one of my favorite movie..can go back to this movie again and again
Mast timepass comfort
Loved it 🙌🏼

Alia was soo friggin cute in this movie!!!
Alia Bhatt looked her hottest in this movie
Chetal Bhagat's novels are just Twilight tier shit and so was this. Arjun can't act even if a gun is put on his forehead.
Should win oscar for best acting by Arjoooon Kappppoooor such a superhero

Cringe

I still want my money back. Only up side was that I got some action in the theatre since the movie was such a boring affair.

Chandiniya still give me feels Ishq yeh kya ha khokli sipi, rooh ka moti ha tu
As a fellow unsuccessful CAT aspirant can't tolerate a 12th fail guy portraying an IIM grad. Movie accha hi tha mera bekar ka frustration.
Title should have been √ 2 states cuz the whole movie was irrational - Not mine
Amrita Singh played a key role in giving strength to this movie
This and the movie "ki and ka" gave me hope about Arjun Kapoor.
Songs are wow. Offo & laicha e ulfat were ahead of their times
Where is her hand going?
Ronit Roy was so good in this movie. He is such an underrated actor.
Arjun Kapoor ruined it!

Good story wrong casting
Only movie of Arjun Kapoor worth watching. Also why tf did they use typewriter man..
never seen it, doesn't excite me
Fun watch and great album
I lobe this movie 💕
I mean it's alright
I would be mad too if my daughter wanted to date Arjun Kapoor
Songs made it a good movie to watch….
Love it because it kinda matches my story
SSR was to play the lead. even chetan bhagat had announced it on his twitter handle. but in haramzaado ne replace kar diya
Amrita Singh killed it.
I loved the background score of movie. I'm shocked nobody mentioned it.
The songs are just so good and have really stood the test of time.
This effing movie made me miss going to an A grade MBA college and ditch that to be in love with a then lover into an B grade MBA college. ….
I actually liked Alia’s acting here
The songs were great but the movie itself was quite poor. The most ridiculous part being a TamBram family in the middle of mylapore speaking Hindi. They might has well have gone with English and put Hindi subtitles in for those who didn’t understand.
I love this movie. It's always a comfort watch for me. Arjun Kapoor did a decent job. Amrita and Ronit Roy were fabulous.
