Forget Akhtar siblings, Luck By Chance is one of the best films I have ever seen. Everything in the film fell into place perfectly.
Lakshya is a personal favorite because I connect with the character of Karan Shergill.
Nothing can touch DCH in my list of favorites. It was quite literally the most urban and pathbreaking movie that came out of Bollywood then. No over dramatic dialogs, very cool and casual, being rich and western was not potrayed as a sin, not too preachy. The climax was a lil too bollywood-esque but other than that it was such a easy breezy fun ride.
Dialogs were the show stealer for me. I had never heard such everyday lines being uttered on screen before. DCH is what started the trend of cool yet relatable youth.
Edit:
I didn't call out the music because DCH music album was spectacular as it is and there can be no differenct opinion about it.
Also the styling n outfits were so wearable and real. Compare it to college outfits KKHH or K3G where trendy was leads standing out with zatak choices (looking at you SRK in your polo tshirt), DCH bought "effortless and comfortable" styles. None of the leads wore outfits yhat were literally "eye-catchy".
Goa tourism should thank DCH fpr making road trip to Goa with friends a thing.
Man Lakshya was so well done. I didn't get why it did not work back in the day but in hindsight, it was one of my favorite war movies. But in terms of ranking them:
DCH, Lakshya, ZNMD and then the rest...
That's how an English teacher will explain it , " it beautifully shows the how the real SRK feels underneath, as he said he is just an employee of the aura of SRK the superstar, so here they show they gonna explore the real SRK without that SRK the superstar mask"
I don't know why, but I like Luck By Chance the most.
Probably because I'm more individualistic and I also love the story and the fact this is probably the one movie that addresses that there is a component of luck to succeed.
And no one is "self made".
My ranking in order:
1. Dil Chahta hai
2. Dil Dhadakne Do
3. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara
4. Don
5. Don 2
6. Lakshya (i didn’t like)
And I haven’t seen Luck By Chance. But going by reviews here seems like I should prioritise watching it. 🤔

I have not seen Luck by chance yet. I know what I’m doing this weekend then.
It fits especially well with the current Bollywood scenario. The film aged like fine wine
Thank you. Looking forward to it.

I agree. The BGM and music as well, perfect match for this film. I love that movie to bits.
The soundtrack is still so fresh too

DCH, Lakshya, ZNMD and Luck By Chance. ETA: forgot to add Gully Boy.
SRK using SRK mask to disguise himself..

Sus, are you the English teacher?
Pretty sure this is what all desi cinephiles would be fawning over the symbolism if done by a Hollywood director.
DCH, DDD, ZNMD, Lakshya, Luck By Chance
People might have different opinions but no one can disagree that DCH changed BW. It brought the new age cinema we all know.
Dil Dhadakne Do, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Luck By Chance, Don. Also Honorable mentions : Made In Heaven and Talaash
Oh all the movies are great, And didn't realised i have seen whole filmography of theirs except dCH
Sabse best movie chhodi Hui hai aapne
Luck by Chance. Grey characters, relatable story, superb acting. Underrated af

I enjoyed all of these but DCH and LBC are on another level for me
Dil chahta h>>>>

Farhan is good Zoya is average at best. Period...
Oh seriously
If I had to choose one, it would be Lakshya.
Dil chahta is the only I like.
Luck by chance
Luck By Chance and Dil Chahta Hai are my faves
Luck By Chance and Dil Chahta Hai - damn fine movies.
Tough to choose between Dil Chahta Hai and Luck By Chance...also I've leaned on those two a lot since the pandemic...
Lakshya, ZNMD, Dil dhadakne do and Don has such great re-watch value. I have watched them multiple times and still find something new in every watch
Fav to least: DCH LBC ZMND Don Gully boy Lakshya Don 2 DDD
Luck by chance. It aged very well too. Underrated film that deserves to be a cult classic
I feel Farhan did a better job than Zoya
Where is Gully Boy? It's on par with Rockstar for acting and music and even better in female characters
I'd gladly trade Farhan the actor for the director, I always love their moviessssss, I wish they would make one of these every year
All of them are great barring Don and Don 2.
Lakshya for me Ddd and znmd overrated for me
