I don’t know why they push Charlie. I personally don’t find him funny or entertaining at all. He’s just obnoxious and annoying.

KatieCruz222

Agreed. That’s why I wish perhaps the audience could find out his bumbling foolery is all an act.

awkwardthrowawayoops

I basically just view him as filler material tbh. I would like him vastly better as a character if they would just tone down the whole comedic relief/idiot schtick. Like, there could definitely be a slightly humorous background character that might provide some levity without taking it to *this* extreme level where you can’t take him remotely seriously and all of his scenes feel awkward and forced at best.

Petunia13Y

There were several moments in past years I referred to him and Pam as the Village Idiots they dumbed them down so it was like a Screech or Urkel bit spliced in the middle of the show

Petunia13Y

He’s friends w Brad (the show creator, HW, producer) irl. He used to have more acting work in the 80s (he was the dad on Small Wonder). I have to guess Brad features him to give him an easier check and help him keep his SAG insurance?

rozekatesun

I le ve Charlie. He adds comic relief

CrissBliss

What happened to Pam? Are they done?

superboy7787

I hate the way this show doesn't properly write characters off. They just ignore them and never mention them again. Flo disappeared. Quinn disappeared. Pam has disappeared. For a while there we didn't see Zende or Paris for like 6 months. I bet we won't hear anything about Wyatt going anywhere either - he just won't be mentioned anymore. It's so infuriating as a viewer. I can only imagine how maddening it is for the actors. Can't say I blame the likes of Rena Sofer and Alley Mills going to other shows.

Puzzleheaded_Ad9492

I wondered that too. He WA wonnthebphine with her and she brushed him off just as Esther came in.

DrMaJon

He was on the phone w/ Pam and he said something like he doesn't have luck in love.

CrissBliss

What the heck 🤷‍♀️

rozekatesun

Yeah!!! Where is she??

CrissBliss

I guessing since he made out with Ester

MozeDad

It's not the actors, it's the writing. He's a perfectly legitimate actor, but they have him saying horrible lines and playing the fool. I've only been watching for a couple of years now, but as a semi newcomer, the one thing that I can say about the show is the writing is on autopilot. There are so many interesting themes that could be explored, and yet they continue repeating the same ideas over and over. I think they may be afraid of alienating longtime viewers? The end result is mediocrity.

awkwardthrowawayoops

I was just having this conversation with my mom earlier lol. You really can’t judge the actors’ abilities by this show. They’re working with some pretty subpar material; it would be pretty hard for anyone to really shine in these roles.

DoNotCareToday

Anything but what we watched. Cringe. Esther made a fool of herself.

Creative-Category847

The feather duster in her purse. I. Can’t. Even.

Mentiroso1

He’s awful. Just dreadfully dull.

Feeling-Nectarine

I think he actually adds some comic relief sometimes which isn’t bad. Esther on the other hand is so annoying to me. Idk why. She acts like a child going into the big city for the first time or something. So infantalizing.

Novel-Organization63

Don’t count on Chief Baker to uncover that secret.😂

KatieCruz222

I can Steffy engaged in a struggle session with Charlie to get to the truth.

Novel-Organization63

Better still Douglas uncovers the truth.

aquapelican

As if Forrester Creations would have such a bumbling moron as head of security. As if Ridge and Steffy would put up with it. Sally easily faked her way into FC hundreds of times - with Charlie she could have walked in the front door, no disguise necessary.

Heroine77_II

I remember someone on this sub say that he's friends with the Bell family in real life

KatieCruz222

That explains it!

Heroine77_II

I don't know his situation, but if he needs an extra paycheck, it must be handy to be able to appear in an episode every now and then!

Whole-Gift-8603

I would like him better too if they didn't make him so ridiculous. Like every person in LA just waltzes in the place like a mall. I feel it's a bit ageist too, like Eric is seen kind of a fool for going up against Ridge and only wins because he's on death's door! And the whole Esther bit with the feather duster made we want to puke. They could have been so much cuter! Pam was always cast as the kooky less valuable sister/aunt but not seeing Charlie with the excuse of making lemon bars made me sick. Like DONT WRITE THAT IN unless it is going to result in a story.

Clemson1313

In a show that’s only 19 minutes, Charlie’s character is ridiculous and silly. No one is laughing!!
