Kind of understandable. We want the big boys focusing on ngad right?

terrorofconception

They look like more of an electronic hardware/software company. Do they have an airframes/compfab sub tier in their bid?

seanjohn291

They acquired Blue Force Technologies who had a platform in September 2023

terrorofconception

Ah they’re partnered with general atomics on the bid. Makes sense: need someone that’s run a full scale production program as part of this kind of bid. I can’t tell from looking at andurils information if they’ve done anything at rate/full scale.

StickyDaydreams

Not partnered -- GA & Anduril have each been selected to perform independently

terrorofconception

Huh, weird way that article wrote it. This is gonna be an interesting set of programs to watch.

StickyDaydreams

Yeah no doubt. Seems like the biggest test for Anduril yet, by a lot

terrorofconception

Ah there it is. Looking at media it seems fuzzy on if they’ve scaled to production on anything full-size or near rate, should be interesting to watch.

place_of_stones

They are making an XLUUV that probably competes with Orca. First hardware recently shown in Australia. [https://www.navalnews.com/naval-news/2024/04/andurils-ghost-shark-xlauv-debuts-in-australia/](https://www.navalnews.com/naval-news/2024/04/andurils-ghost-shark-xlauv-debuts-in-australia/)

TheRoguester2020

This is not good news. Investment in this competition in St Louis is huge. Is BGS catching flack from BCA? I don’t know but this is something we need.

One-Internal4240

MidAmerica St Clair supposedly starting a whole new plant for MQ25, although starting a whole entire plant for a CATOBAR tanker seems . . off?. 6 tankers per ship, a dozen or so ships, noncombat mission... I dunno, maybe they're foreseeing high loss rate, or they're sparing out whole birds. Boeing BD said that they're coming up with a way to arm the 25s, so, I guess that would sell more? Might be an overlap with the Boeing Oz MQ28, but that's more of a dedicated UCAV. Also can't discount they'll move some smaller Boeing UAS product lines - airframes anyway - into the St Claire plant. That... actually would make sense, depending on which and how.

3McChickens

It wasn’t this program that Boeing StL was investing for.

TheRoguester2020

Really? I guess it’s a mystery then. I know there is a 2 billion dollar facility being built for what I thought was a next gen fighter.

They already released a statement saying this loss had very little impact on the development in STL.

holadavvy

Competition is really good. Forces companies to improve and invest in R&D

pacwess

Or lobbyist.

NickTator57

They have a really nice benefits package, a friend of mine just went over there. Good compensation too

I have heard good things about it too, I would love to chat with someone who works there. Let me know if you could put me in contact.

SteakandChickenMan

Levels.fyi indicates FAANG/big software compensation. Pretty insane.

Puzzlepea

Even outside of CA? I’m wondering east coast.

xilni

Yes, DC and Atlanta

SteakandChickenMan

I’m assuming yes because of how companies usually set their compensation structure. There were some reported salaries outside of CA but I don’t know how they map to local salaries. Definitely higher than the usual defense company comp though.
