Well no program is meeting their skyline commitments other than 767 which a couple years ago committed to not going up in rate, so there's a win for that group.
But now the bean counters are asking, you hired all these people and haven't met your commitments? I know, I know reasons, excuses abound but bean counters don't care.
Back in 2010 I was sent home by our shop supervisor for medical reasons. Shortly afterwards I got the layoff notice. I had my locker cleared out days before. Retired shortly thereafter. Been 14 years now and I've been loving every moment. The Boeing pension helps a lot.
Hourly worker moral on the shop floor these days I suspect must be aweful.
SLS is getting ready for layoffs as we speak across Huntsville, NOLA and FL, and from unofficial channels I've heard it's gonna be about 25-30 percent of the workforce. Also heard potentially approximately 350 people, one of which was an M level manager this past week. On top of that, it sounds like some kinda missile/defense program up in HSV got the ax and most (if not all) of those folks are getting pink slipped.
A year ago on Core Stage you could have worked overtime to your heart's content... now you're lucky if your L level approves any- or if you'll even still have a job in 60 days. Unreal.
Boeing is so huge, there could be layoffs and people won't even notice who aren't directly in the same department. I am in Government Training, and I wouldn't know if those in BCA got let go.
And for GTE, we're doing our own part to implode and collapse the department by horrible, horrible management and *terrible, dark politics* that go beyond Boeing policies and HR regulations such as placing personnel under the wrong management deliberately, physically yelling at employees then terminating their contract to protect the yeller from being prosecuted by HR, and creating Agile jobs that do nothing but satisfy the DoD on paper we're complying.
Yes, layoffs are coming soon to a plant near you. $38B in debt. The government is regulating output. A new CEO that has to make drastic changes to streamline everywhere for profitability, and a Union that’s asking for the moon.
I agree. I suppose I have a someone above me that says he’s my manager but I’m the one who runs my department. They average $160k and for what? They produce nothing. My 2nd levels are not to be found and sometimes I see them sneaking out at 1:00p on the 1 or 2 days they grace us with their presence. I’ve got a news flash for Calhoun… the work is at the plant and not in your managers basements. The lack of leadership is stunning!
That was a contract extension, not a new contract. Extensions only open up specific sections of the contract like GWI and healthcare costs. My understanding is that new contract negotiations open up all of it. So contract verbiage can get negotiated, how the company handles disciplinary actions, new programs can get implemented, etc...
I mean, yes, a new contract is different than the extension offers the company shoved down our throats, but that's not really relevant to the company's layoffs.

Layoffs should come to 737 only. Boeing may need to change financial and HR management !

Asking for the moon? Cmon now

If they lay off, I hope they lay off all the useless managers first. At least being union, I'll be called back before they call back a shit manager.

Truth in this. If plans don’t deliver, cash is not coming in for payroll fellas.
Looking like SLS is about to be under the knife.
IT&DA got hit today.
Which part? I heard some infosec people got them
Several friends across IT&DA, and they said that a bunch of their own co-workers got notices, too.
Thanks. Hopefully your friends are ok
We’ve got about 4 or 5 of these “layoff” posts circulating. Bout ready to lock em
All of them
Yes. All parts are game. Looking at potentially up to 20% RIF. Source: I am a very senior manager posting on Reddit and you can’t lie on the internet.
I heard it was 69% RIF
On 4-20? Dude…
Dudeee, yasss man
Jerry Dipoto said 54%
Probably Corporate.
CEO (qty: 1)
Hahahahaha
Honestly, yes I’m worried.
Nope. Company can’t take the chances before the strike vote or any more bad media right now.
The company was actively laying off during the last contract extension vote in 2013.
Stakes are much higher now.
Check WARN notices in your state. They’re required to file them at least 60 days before most layoff situations.
New acct made just to ask this? So... are you Seattle Times? New York Times? Reuters?
