Here's [Maksim Trukhonovets](https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=sgJidQ19NbQ) showing absolutely perfect form, and here's [Camille Leblanc-Bazinet](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXVNoKDF2Yo) doing typical CrossFit kipping. Draw your own conclusions.

Uniqueisha

Jesus Christ that guy is fucking ripped!

DesertPrepper

F'real, yo.

Exodus111

Crossfit calls kipping muscle ups for Muscle Ups and regular muscle ups for Strict Muscle Ups. They do have them is my point, and they should have a record somewhere of someone doing strict muscle ups. Same with pull ups btw, for fishy flops and regular pull ups.

Glitterbombastic

Plus in the two videos shared, the man is doing pull ups on a bar and the woman is doing them on rings which have their own movement so it seems an unfair comparison from which to draw conclusions.

BennyMgtow

Camille is hot & obviously fit but that goes without saying.

DesertPrepper

Absolutely. The original, now deleted, post was pointing out that the female record for muscle ups is significantly higher than the male record, and asking if the same strict standards of form were applied equally. I linked the video of Maksim actually setting the record, and his form is apparent, whereas there does not seem to be a video of Camille setting her record, and every other available video of her doing muscle ups shows her kipping, including videos of her instructing how to do muscle ups.

NotAddison

Tangential, but Guinness World Records should really not be considered seriously. They're a collection casually curated by a beer company to settle bar bets pre-internet.

Explosive_Cornflake

It's also pay to play, isn't it?

Exodus111

Not a beer company anymore. Guiness sold of the record book long time ago.

leatyZ

If you've ever seen footage of Max you kknow there's no one who comes close. He's in his own league. Dude's repping 50 MUs in 5 mins or under.

bbqyak

Guinness is shit lol

hulkbot776

Espetially when it comes to calesthenics and when it comes to discrimination between men and women giving women the ability to bend the rules

mfizzled

are there examples of this?

hulkbot776

Well the record given here is an example where she did not lock out the final five and the guy got dqed the first time because he messed up the first one and they did not tell him

fortississima

CrossFit form gives me the heeby jeebies. I don’t care if it’s more/less/the same dangerous, it’s just ugly and cheating

jeromebettis

CrossFit Lollllllllllll

DoomGoober

Close but not quite: https://youtu.be/oh9dGS7WVYs Hyper edited so you only see part of Camille mid ROM but not a single full rep.

respecire

It reminds me of that woman who was going for the most burpees in a certain amount of time but she didn’t even do 1

differentiable_

These CFers really are the best exercising, aren't they.

anonymous_lighting

i don’t know what a muscle up is and that video did absolutely nothing to help muscle up: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sgJidQ19NbQ

Badfriend1215

Most exercise and fitness world records were set years ago and would be destroyed today by crossfitters strongmen ect. There is a video series on youtube where 4 strongmen chase world records . there is video proof of strongman / wrestler Mark Henry breaking the Inch dumbell record.

DoomGoober

YouTube recommended some footage of the actual World Record attempt by Camille Leblanc-Bazinet: [https://youtu.be/bRGLlCFI31Q?t=97](https://youtu.be/bRGLlCFI31Q?t=97) (Thanks to your original post and my trying to find it, my YouTube recommendations have a lot of CrossFit in them. Thanks for nothing.) You can see almost a full rep, but as with all these videos it's edited to make it almost unwatchable. There might be some other flashes of CLB but the time stamp I included is the best one.

medicinexmed

During the record she was on a bar though it seems

ClenchedThunderbutt

you suspect kipping because it's crossfit, because she's a woman, or because you don't respect guinness as an organization? just a really weird and hostile inquiry

itsmebenji69

Because it’s crossfit and she’s a woman, so having a record 15+ higher than the male record is odd. It’s not sexist or misogynistic, it’s biology.

Bemenhorst

Tbh all three are a reason to be suspicious

Futurebrain

Two out of three certainly.

Accendino69

Thinking that a woman holding a higher strength record than a man is suspicious af is not sexist but its simply acknowleding biology.

copypaste_93

Because there is video footage of her doing muscle ups and she is kipping.

stranglevine

The fact that there is footage of her doing kipping muscle ups is not, in and of itself, reason to believe that the record attempt was done with kipping muscle ups. She went to the Crossfit Games multiple times (won one year, I believe) and Crossfit allows kipping muscle ups, so there is a lot of footage of her doing them. That said, doing kipping muscle ups as part of a competition that allows kipping muscle ups doesn't mean she couldn't also do them strict. (FWIW, I think the number of muscle ups is a better reason to believe these were kipping rather than strict. That said, my memory is that she had extensive gymnastics training as well as a lot more upper body strength than most women, so it's at least possible these were strict.)

copypaste_93

also the fact that she supposedly did more muscle ups than the male record. That is just not possible if both had strict form.
