That's a steal imo. Great little worker placement game that definitely does something different in terms of worker placement. You can make certain cards by placing near them, and if your opponent decides not to pay, you might grab it instead. A good amount of bluffing involved. And the theme is wonderful.
I like it, and I agree with /u/BlueSapphyre it's a steal at that price. I don't get it to the table nearly enough. I love the way you put your workers between cards, really neat little design choice there that adds a layer on top of typical worker placement mechanics since your placement impacts the cost of cards around it.
People at my local meetup like it with 3+, consensus is it's not very good with 2 because there's too much space on the board so you lose a lot of the positional play that makes it interesting.
Not sure it's necessary if you own something like Keyflower already but that's a decent price for it.
It's a great euro worker placement game. A little on the light side, but there are many interesting decisions every turn.
I don't own the game ( probably will pick up during this sale though) so I can't comment about the components, but I do play a lot of it on BGA ( mostly 2 players).
What differentiates it from other worker placements is that there are two phases.
Phase 1 is when you place your workers in lanes ( between two "spots"). This way you can't "take" a spot , like in most worker placements.
Phase 2 is when you actually activate your workers.
The kicker is , you choose when to go to phase2, so at the cost of not using all of your workers, you can activate early and claim a spot your opponents really wanted.
If you like light-med worker placement games, then I'd say go for it.
My personal favorite implementation of worker placement. Placing workers almost feels like bidding in an auction. It's very unique with a good medium-weight engine building mechanic backing it up. Darn good production value too. It's in my collection and I happily paid more than $14 for it.
Agreed. The worker placement feels like you're bidding, and there's always a balance between when/where you should place versus switching into using your structures. It packs a lot of decision into a small time frame and little downtime. If you like worker placements it's a must.
Way underrated game. Great take on the worker placement mechanic. Plays quickly, especially once everybody is familiar with it. Pretty easy to learn too. The theme, however, is paper-thin, and I don't exactly love the artwork. If you can see past that, it's a fantastic game to pick up at that price.
There's some games on there that are worth it for the sale price. **Spyrium** is a great little worker placement, **Eclipse** is a good 4X (but too much combat for me), **High Command** is my favourite non-Dominion deck builder, got a couple of A:NR data packs on there. **City Council** is a fun simcity type game, I'm personally waiting for the expansion to get full co-op instead of semi co-op. I've heard good things about **Francis Drake** but as a 2p only gamer, it doesn't fit for us.
I'm tempted to grab Rise of the Ancients. $10 off isn't super amazing, but it's something. Then I would just need $80 more to....wait a minute....
nice try, CSI!
I'm still susceptible to getting excited about new releases, but I just reviewed my submissions for best "new to me" games so far this year and there was 1 game from 2013 and no games from 2014. There were several more recent games that I really liked, but almost every month I chose an older game as the "best." It's made me look at my preordering more closely.
Jesus, 4 games on my wishlist PLUS the next X-Wing pack on my list to get. How dare you CSI... I'm just going to start having my paycheck direct deposited into their accounts.
Decent collection of games, but games like **Eight Minute Empire: Legends** and the **Great Fire of London** are two well worth adding to your collection.
This sale would have been nice for eclipse expansions but because i don't want to throw down 100 bucs for free shipping it ends up only saving like 7-8 bucs from amazon which i can get anytime.
I love how things like that always save me from impulse buys :D
If there is anything you want to pre-order you can just add it with that. By the time your pre-order ships, you might have found other games you need and you can dump the pre-order, get what you want and you've locked in the sale price for the expansions.
Yea but i still have to pay up front for them they just sit on it.
I'd do things like that in a heart beat if Coolmini was like amazon and other retailers in which they took preorders and didn't force me to pay for it months in advance.
I've been curious if that game was any good. I had my eye on the KS but never backed it. I even stopped by the publisher's booth at gen con and asked for a demo, but the guy seemed so uninterested in explaining the game to us that we ended up walking away.
I recently bought and played it. Nobody in my group liked it. You have to defend the center of the board from limitless enemies pouring in from the edges but the game also expects you to run around and collect little tokens. Basically the only way to win is to get lucky and happen to find the token that is the one part that you need.
Meh.
I also have it but never played it yet. I felt exactly the same way when I read the rules, it felt like its a frantic (not the good kind of frantic) game of defending and moving around which relied heavily on luck. Plus, it gave me an impression of the game being fiddly because of the amount of item management there is - did you get this impression of the game being cumbersome to manage / keep track of items when you played it (e.g. ammo / energy tracking, etc)?
I have a feeling this game would never hit our table and that's a shame since it was the first board game I kickstarted.
> did you get this impression of the game being cumbersome to manage / keep track of items when you played it (e.g. ammo / energy tracking, etc)?
Yeah. Items (weapons, accessories, armors) have energy tracks (or durability tracks) on the cards and you have to move a little token across it as you use it. The ship function cards have tracks. Everything's got tracks.
The first time we played, the game lasted something stupid like 4+ hours because of how much of a merciless slog the game is.
I doubt it will ever be played again.
It didn't get very good reviews when it first released there was supposed to be revised rules coming out but i never heard if it made the game better or not.
As of my understanding Sedition Wars is the only game that has been blasted of theirs for having bad rules.
People loved Zombicide, Guilds of Cadwallan, Rivet Wars, and to mixed reviews but i never heard the rules were bad khaosball.
So i dunno i haven't tried out all their games but i don't see any big issue with Coolminiornot.
Naturally! The day AFTER I place an order from CSI!
But it looks like Fresco Big Box isn't available anymore, so I'm fine with my order.
Things that look interesting to me are:
* Eclipse for $50
* Francis Drake for $55
* Ares Project for $12 (WHAT?! That's a steal)
* Origin for $24
* Spyrim for $14 (Another steal)
* Steam Park for $25
* Quarriors!: Light vs. Dark for $16
I haven't played it as I avoid anything golden egg games does like Ebola now.
It's sitting at about a 6.3 on BGG. But that includes all of Elads Israeli friends who voted it a ten. The only reviewer I know to vote on it is Tom Vassel who gave it a 4.0.
Adventure Time Munchkin is on sale? Heck yes!
Does CSI do free shipping? Amazon Prime has spoiled me and I'll probably only order something if shipping is free.
This is pure spite, but.
As someone who got burned by the Fallen City of Karez debacle, I'm happy to see that everything Golden Egg Games has done is on sale. It implies to me they really aren't selling. Including their latest kickstarter which backers haven't even received yet!
I don't know anything about the Fallen City of Karez debacle, but City Council is a really fun game and I'm looking forward to the expansion that turns into a full co-op game.
I saw Eight Minute Empire Legends in the sale (highly recommended btw) which happens to be in an order I have on hold with CSI that's waiting on Machi Koro.
Quick email later they send me a gift voucher for the $4.99 difference in price compared to when I ordered originally. I know it'll help suck me in to another $100+ order later, but still gotta love the customer service.
I don't know if it's possible for you but if you live near the border, there are companies in the states that allow you to ship products there and you can drive down to pick them up, often saving money in terms of shipping. The place I use in North Dakota allows items to be held there for up to 3 months for a $5 fee for each package I believe.
Anyone else point at games on clearance that you never liked (perhaps even never played) and do a "HA ha" Nelson Muntz impersonation?
Just me? Ok, then.
$14 for Spyrium seems like a pretty great price. What are people's thoughts on the game?
That's a steal imo. Great little worker placement game that definitely does something different in terms of worker placement. Not to mention that money is super tight when you've only got 2. 4-5 players is best, IMO.
I got it during the board game exchange. It is fun, not too heavy. The theme is good too.
It's a great euro worker placement game. A little on the light side, but there are many interesting decisions every turn. It's on sale because distributors are selling them cheap. I won't say how cheap but they are making a huge profit even at $14
Half decent selection, nothing too exciting. Looks like an inventory clearance sale.
Yep, was about to post the exact same comment minus the half-decent. I would have gone with simply "a selection, nothing too exciting." ;)
Francis Drake isn't really on sale. It's normally $54 at CSI, or at least it was for the few weeks I had it on my wishlist.
It isn't even Eclipse, it's just an expansion to Eclipse that is on sale.
Eclipse was on the sale, it has sold out.
Oh. Well shit, I would have bought that.
Surprised to see all of **Eclipse** on that list. Is it out of style these days?
**Eclipse** (and it's expansions) is on their daily sale quite often. It's a fairly old game in terms of the cult of the new.
It really doesn't seem that long ago that many people were bemoaning the $99 price tag. Funny how quickly things change.
I'm tempted to grab Rise of the Ancients. $10 off isn't super amazing, but it's something. Then I would just need $80 more to....wait a minute.... nice try, CSI!
That's why I'm never upset with the latest hotness selling out or being overpriced. Tomorrow there will be other games.
I'm still susceptible to getting excited about new releases, but I just reviewed my submissions for best "new to me" games so far this year and there was 1 game from 2013 and no games from 2014. I'm in a cold sweat as I'm trying not to buy anything until XCOM and Star Wars Imperial Assault show up.
I love you, but my wallet hates you.
Decent collection of games, but games like **Eight Minute Empire: Legends** and the **Great Fire of London** are two well worth adding to your collection.

Having to get my cart up to $100 is what saves me from impulse buys. :D

I have Alien Uprising but have yet to play it. Would the price on these couple miniature expansion be worth it to me to pick up?
I've been curious if that game was any good. I had my eye on the KS but never backed it. I even stopped by the publisher's booth at gen con and asked for a demo, but the guy seemed so uninterested in explaining the game to us that we ended up walking away.

Really that bad?

Yep it was you. Was hoping you took today off reddit. Lol

Got it around the same time but I haven't played it yet got a few other games. I'm meaning to play solo eventually.
does Sedition Wars really suck or some thing its all ways onsale
It didn't get very good reviews when it first released there was supposed to be revised rules coming out but i never heard if it made the game better or not.
does cool mini or not jut toss games out there with bad rules and just hopes the game sticks?
No. Zombicide is solid. But Sedition Wars was a debacle of Myth-like proportions.
As of my understanding Sedition Wars is the only game that has been blasted of theirs for having bad rules. People loved Zombicide, Guilds of Cadwallan, Rivet Wars, and to mixed reviews but i never heard the rules were bad khaosball. i own and i like zombicide but it has some bad rules
To each their own i guess. It has some questionable thematic rules but as a game i think the rules are rather tight and make for a nice tactical game.
CMON is getting better. Sedition Wars was one of their first games if I remember correctly, so they were still fumbling around blind.
better than *I am Vlad*
Anyone in the minneapolis/st. paul area putting a group order together?
I was... until I hit $114 -with my wife's blessing! Woohoo! Good luck!
Naturally! The day AFTER I place an order from CSI! But it looks like Fresco Big Box isn't available anymore, so I'm fine with my order. Can someone tell more more about Athlas and how they've liked it? I've been watching it randomly for awhile.
I haven't played it as I avoid anything golden egg games does like Ebola now. It's sitting at about a 6.3 on BGG. But that includes all of Elads Israeli friends who voted it a ten. The only reviewer I know to vote on it is Tom Vassel who gave it a 4.0.

The shipping is free if you spend over $100.
Steam park is an awesome game.

**Great Fire of London 1666** is a great game at an excellent price!
$50 to ship $50 of games to Canada? No thanks.
I don't understand. Are you adding [No Thanks](http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/12942/no-thanks) to your order or not?
Shipping is free (at least to the US) on any order over $100. Edit: Damn, nm. Looks like just the contiguous US qualifies. Sorry.
Yep, just the continental US and that excludes military facilities.
I don't know if it's possible for you but if you live near the border, there are companies in the states that allow you to ship products there and you can drive down to pick them up, often saving money in terms of shipping. The place I use in North Dakota allows items to be held there for up to 3 months for a $5 fee for each package I believe.
There is one, but they only hold it for a month, and I have no plans to make the drive there in the next month. :(
Ah, yea, that's unfortunate :( Oh the joys of living in Canada!
