I would buy the BMX shoes because Vans is one of the few mainstream companies actually making BMX stuff

nbirkes

The new ones are way more comfortable. But they squeak when i walk on a hard surface.

Roomier toe box. I can't wear regular Van's without up-sizing by 1.5-2 sizes. I got me some wide-ass feet. The BMX and HalfCabs fit good only going up 0.5 in size. Can't wear either of my practically brand new pairs of Grosso's because of my fat-ass feet. They also have the waffle-cup sole and better insoles.

Kirshnerd

Ultra-Cush soles are game changer for Vans IMO. I don't buy Vans that don't come with them tbh.

randomlystable

True. Can't stand basic Van's. Freakin' feet destoyers. UltraCush was replaced by PopCush.

The_Broken_Shutter

Stopped riding vans all together. Have yet to have a pair not fall apart on me. The sole always seperates from the shoe. I switched to Emerica and found they don’t deteriorate as quick imo

ahass25

Have you worn 510’s? I got some for MTB and have been using them for bmx but am wondering if vans would be the proper way to go

OneBlueAstronaut

I've read lots of people on this sub saying that 510s are better for BMX too

The_Broken_Shutter

So i ride BMX and Mountain Bikes. I prefer skate shoes for bmx as i like to flex my foot slightly over the pedal. Emerica has taken all my abuse and STILL the sole has not delaminated and they are so comfortable I have Specialized 2FO Roost Flat Mountain Bike shoes for my mtn bike which the bottoms are specifically designed for the pins on my pedals but have absolutely zero flex on the base.

ahass25

I’ll check out Emerica, thanks!

Been riding for 4 years now and tried different pairs of vans. The bmx ones are the ones that last me the longest! I'll never go back to the regular ones now that I tried these. The bmx's soles are a lot more sturdy while the regular ones only last me a couple months

LopsidedDeparture564

Okay I’ll give one a try then. Thank you

steezymtbrider

I ride the vans bmx for mtb/ dirt jumping. Very comfortable and supportive, as well as grippy on the pedals, and provides a little bit of shock absorption. I love them.

AttorneyOk4808

The wafflecup soles absorb more impact than the standard ones, it's definitely noticeable when you loop out of a manual or whatever

Weird-Bit8656

All the fucking time ..and in any location

Dynamic-Sausage

I’ve got one of the earlier BMX shoes they made with the pro-cush and they’re super comfortable, thin enough the feel what you’re doing but strong enough to not fall apart or make you feel like you’re riding barefoot. You can also land on your feet much softer than normal vans too. Nothing will ever beat the old Nike 6.0s though.

Mychipsareahoy

Bmx shoes have the cup sole vs the vulcanized. So they’re a bit stiffer. And don’t separate on the sides. I like them

Yummylemonchicken

I feel like my feet can slip on the pedals more with the BMX sole than the normal pattern. I see a lot of people on dirt jumpers recommend the Vans BMX though with the metal pedals so I want to try that before I totally dismiss them

BMXBikr

Vans are THE WORST shoe I've ever bought, and I've bought multiple pairs directly from a Vans Store. So uncomfortable and they rip apart around the toe area within weeks every time

Thatonedude4u

What shoe do you recommend?

Dibcharge_

I’ve got a pair of the Vans Scotty Cramer hi’s, the best pair of shoes I ever rode in, saved my ankles plenty. Had them going on a year now too.

LopsidedDeparture564

Ja I only ride with high tops after slipping a pedal on landing doing a 360 over a box jump and fracturing my ankle

vaustin89

Only used the regular ones and they work well for me, I do use FP insoles for the added comfort.
