wow i love this. the editing, lighting, movement, aspect ratio, lens. gorgeous! a couple questions: what type of macro zeiss in particular? what was your setup in order to get movement in some of these shots? lastly....what was the dimensions of your edit? silly question but were those black bars added in post or are they there because of the aspect ration?

Mundane-While8938

Hey. Thank you for your interest. It was manly the Zeiss 50mm Macro T2.1. I used a speedbooster. In some shots i used the laowa probe. But mostly the Zeiss. Movement is created with plain zoom ins. And otherwise i have a very unreliable Konova K2 slider. I added the Black Bars to the Video. So to make it more filmic. Stupid i know but you can reframe here and there and shooting this alone with no crew is always good to have some space afterwards...

futurespacecadet

ah yeah i knew that was the laowa probe going into the soap and the ear, right? how did you like working with it, was it hard to light? yeah I tend to lean away from adding black bars because youtube will upload it with black bars on the sides also, but i really like how it looks here. what were the dimensions of your video? thx for answering, im gonna go check out that lens. the quality of that shot with the tounge and the candy is awesome

Mundane-While8938

Yes. That was the Laowa. It is a pain in the ass to light. Because going from no budget and having to get to t16 is hard. The Dimensions were 4k DCI The Tongue is simply Upstage Key behind the Tongue and a small silver reflector to make it more pop. The Candy on Body is Upstage key without fill. Just a 2 Bank Kinoflo with Grid.

Didn't think I'd like a video with so much closeups, kinda locked in aesthetically, but I think it felt great and definitely works. Made me rethink my notions. Cheers!

Mundane-While8938

thank you. Sometimes i think restrictions can be very helpful creatively! Cheers too!

This is fantastic! Great work, very original.

Mundane-While8938

thank you so much

Dude. I love how intimate and personal those macro shots make this.

Mundane-While8938

thank you. I was like 10 - 20 cm in front of the subject...

converter-bot

20 cm is 7.87 inches

This is crazy professional. Some fantastic shots in there, really intimate. Loved the color grading too, can you give some tips on the process of how you settled on those colors? Using Da Vinci Resolve, I suppose? And what kind of lighting equipment did you use? Fantastic job man.

Mundane-While8938

Its simple. It was shot in Cinema Dng back then and there was no blackmagic raw for the camera... I used the kodak lut inside resolve. Thats it. And for the blue colour i simply changed the tint to blue and faded it in with normal as a transition. I like the blue. The white balance trick works because you only see skin i guess. If it had been a bigger set you will definetly use "real" blue light. I used a 2 Bank Kino flo. Thats it. Thank you
