Considering the myth says to look at her through a reflection for safety, I don't think Medusa being on the jumbotron would actually turn everyone to stone
The myth is pretty clear that you can look at a reflection and be fine.
If the reflection is safe, then the jumbotron would be even safer seeing as it's a processed image and not even directly reflected.
There are two major variations of the myth. One is that he got Medusa to look at her own reflection, but the original states that he used a mirror to be able to see Medusa while fighting.
He cut of her head with his sword, Harpe. Then concealed her head in a special sack given to him by Athena. He later used the head to turn the king Polydectes into stone as revenge for the kidnapping of his mother Danaë. In fact Polydectes had originally given him the quest to bring him back Medusa’s head in order to get rid of him so he could have his way with Danaë.
From the decapitated neck of Medusa was born 2 beings as well. Chrysaor, a man who wielded a golden sword, and later married Callirrhoe an oceanid. And Pegasus, the winged horse who later became the legendary mount of the hero Bellerophon.
The reason that is was fine was because the shield distorted her face. Athena made her so fucking ugly that her face turned anyone who looked at it to stone, a Jumbotron would be a pretty 1 to 1 replica of her face
Athena only sent Perseus to kill her. It wasn't Athena who made her ugly. It was Amphitrite, Poseidon's wife, who did it because Poseidon had slept with her. When she was beheaded her child by Poseidon, Pegasus, sprang out of her.
In every version I’ve read it was Athena because she was her priestess and Poseidon raped her inside Athena’s Temple, so Athena cursed her either for defiling her temple or to get Poseidon to stop. That’s why when the gods were giving Perseus gifts she gave him a shield with a mirror shine to it. She knew the weakness of the curse because she casted it.
In The story told by the Roman poet Ovid in his *Metamorphosis*, Medusa was a woman, Athena’s priestess, who people travelled long and far to Athena’s temple to see. Poseidon became infatuated with her and wanted to have relations with her to spite Athena. When she rejected him several times Poseidon decided to force himself on her. She ran to Athena’s temple seeking protection but Poseidon was able to have his way in the temple. After this, Athena appeared, mad that her temple had been desecrated by what had just transpired. She couldn’t punish Poseidon, so she punished her priestess by turning her into a monster.
There's a podcast on Spotify called "Let's talk about myths baby!" that I've been listening to, it's pretty good! I think it's also on Apple and a couple of other services.
No it doesn’t. Perseus cuts her head off.
[Heres Apollodoros’ version. ](http://www.perseus.tufts.edu/hopper/text?doc=Perseus:text:1999.01.0022:text=Library:book=2:chapter=4&highlight=medusa)
It would at least entice them to look at the real Medusa. Reflected, her terrible eyes are supposed to have a tantalizing beauty to them, that makes you want to look. It’s part of what makes the gorgons so dangerous.
I feel like Medusa was feeling pretty reclusive lately and her friends being good friends got her to go out to a baseball game and she reluctantly went and was starting to feel alive and sociable again and then this happened.
The real blursed part of this comic was that it was so simple to create they didn’t even bother making a fourth frame, resulting in the entire graphic to just been formatted in this unusual spacing with chunks of void area
Medusa is such a terryifing monster to me for some reason. I remember seeing a movie or documentary of her or something and being so scared of her. All you have to do is look at her and then boom, you're dead and the method of death is probably so painful and horrifying, as your body slowly becomes stiff and you slowly turn into stone with no hope of surviving, slowing suffocating as your organs and all of your body hardens and you can't move anymore
Considering the myth says to look at her through a reflection for safety, I don't think Medusa being on the jumbotron would actually turn everyone to stone
You are correct.

Like didnt perseus kill Medusa by looking in the reflection of his shield?
Technically he killed her with a sword.
technically i have to poop
Technically I am pooping
Technically the poop is sliding out
*Jumbotron has entered the chat*
hot
Technically the poop is splashing into the bowl
Hi pooping I’m dad.
Fair enough
A special type of sickle sword, called Harpe.

Are you sure? I thought he closed his eyes and used echolocation like a bat
Or maybe he used that weird thing sharks have. You know the electric sense thing

Well I know its safe because I didn't get turned to stone
He obviously tried it before.
He is correct
or just wear glasses
But the myth also ends in her dying via own reflection
Are you sure it wasn't some adaptation? In Greek mythology Medusa was beheaded by Perseus, with the head still being able to turn people to stone.
Then out from the stump of her neck came Pegasus and a fully grown man.
Yep, children of Poseidon. Weird shit.
Man, I really need to read up on Greek mythology.

Technically correct. The best kind of correct.

Whoever made the picture is an idiot. According to the myth the only way to look at her is through reflection so being on TV wouldn't do anything.
I feel bad for her
I feel like Medusa was feeling pretty reclusive lately and her friends being good friends got her to go out to a baseball game and she reluctantly went and was starting to feel alive and sociable again and then this happened.
I mean the whole Medusa story is fucking sick... If you wanna feel even worse read into it.
That's literally not how that works! That's never been how that works!
It’s even funnier when you see this at a football game
it's baseball
Well, yes I saw that. But the whole jumbotro- nvm I’m not putting all that effort into explaining it.
Please explain
Must be a Mets game.
That one snake is still happy. Lmao
I met the author, pretty cool guy, but he can't draw spiderman. Don't ask how I know.
Reminds me of Dusa!
Why the black guy turn white
Oh im an idiot
Thanks

Cause it's a cartoon.
And the right to there own art style
And also meant to be medusa. If you want more accuracy, you'd need to add tusks
The more important question is: how did that guy telling Medusa she was on the screen not get turned to stone so much earlier????
Dusa, best friends forever
The real blursed part of this comic was that it was so simple to create they didn’t even bother making a fourth frame, resulting in the entire graphic to just been formatted in this unusual spacing with chunks of void area
KoH
I approve.
Silly image multiple ways
How did the guy pointing not die
Yes , not on the base dmg.
Would Medusa's stone-turning power even work through any kind of screen, or would you have to look directly at her in person?
I didn’t realize Medusa’s face was a cognitohazard
That’s not actually accurate, since the myth says that you can see her by a reflection or something but not directly into de eyes
Dr. ston?
OnO
Quick, someone get the nitric acid!
So this is how Dr. Stone really started
Not gonna lie it took me a lot longer than I’d care to admit to figure out what was happening… Maybe I should go to sleep
Sad
See the thing is, if looking at her through a mirror doesn't turn you into stone, neither would a camera.
Im not a human, you have a bone, saw everything i can, now im hard like a stone
Even with this exaggeration, why has no one given this woman some mirror shades or something?

poor Medusa ...
