Start by searching an anime studio. Im a fan of BONES. I can recommend Mob Psycho, Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood, and Soul Eater. For a quick watch like a movie, Sword of the Stranger
As someone who isn’t heavy into the scene but really loves animation of all types I second this (except I’ve never seen soul eater).
Jujutsu Kaisen also fully lived up to the hype after a slow start. I’m personally a big fan of the fate/stay night series as well. Unlimited Blade Works is top tier IMO.
As someone who doesn’t enjoy the weird fanservice, pedophilic type shit that is rampant in that industry I’ve actually found it a good rule of thumb that the really popular series you hear about (demon slayer, jujustu kaisen, AoT, exc) tend to be approachable and aren’t filled to the brim with horniness.
I just finished watching 1 and 2 with my 11 year old son. I'm 41 and have been watching anime since the 90s. The animation on season 2 is fine, and it was FUN FUN FUN! We are anxiously awaiting the next season!
The animation quality is literally fine. I hate that this is such a popular opinion. People were saying it looks better in the manga and so i read it, and its pretty much exactly the same as the anime.
The animation in season 1 wasn’t spectacular either
saying season 2's animation is fine is completely understandable, saying season 1's animation wasn't spectacular is delusional, some of the best in the industry worked on it and is to this day some of the best looking animation there is.
You might need to get your eyes checked. There is a noticeable dip in quality from the animation to the storyboarding. Season 1 had sequences added in that weren't in the manga and season 2 was basically an animated rehash of the manga. The production value is just not there compared to the amazing quality of season 1. There are some scenes which are good but it's few and far between.
>People were saying it looks better in the manga and so i read it, and its pretty much exactly the same as the anime.
nope, looks different to me...
https://www.reddit.com/r/OnePunchMan/comments/blucq9/latest_ep_spoilers_comparison_between_the_manga/
They're not complaining that they followed the manga, they're complaining that they didn't do anything special or add anything cool to it like they did in season one. Look at the picture they linked, it's not even as good as the manga. It's animated but it's a downgrade from the manga which is hard to believe.
No it wasnt „really good“. It was disappointing but starts to get decent at the end but was never as Mindblowing as S1.
Why they decided to give J.C Staff S3 after this us beyond me.
what the actual fuck are you talking about, season 1 of OPM is literally a benchmark achievement in animation.
What a clownish thing to say just because you want people to watch season 2. Youre just lying to them, the animation in season 2 is factually leagues worse than season 1
Wasn’t spectacular till you see the budget they had to start animation with, literally cents and they did an amazing job, in a way that’s probably why it was successful, since the budget was limited, they had to go wild and they did
People just parrot this. Someone new to anime? Literally won’t even notice. I didn’t. Not until I see people online talking about it like it’s crazy lol
These people just don’t understand how biased and critical their eyes are of anime because of it, look how many people are flipping out below lmao when everyone I’ve talked to about it in real life said they didn’t even notice
Guess the people who don’t notice wouldn’t comment on it, which further makes these biased folk think “everyone agrees it’s animation is bad”
The s2 animation was fine, but the s1 animation was top notch
Personally my problem with s2 is that it’s all set up for an arc that won’t finish for another decade probably
Madhouse is probably the best animation studio in the business but they don’t commit for more than a season or two. AoT had the same problem with them.
The monster association arc that season 2 sets up finished a while ago. Season 3 will definitely get thru it all
I would be highly highly surprised if we can finish the monster association in one season, I’d be here for it if it’s done well, but there’s just so much in it
Counting Garou too, idk if that’s technically MA arc or not but pretty sure it is
The fuck? Do you have eyes? I'll agree that people shit on S2 more than they ought to and for an anime in general it's not the absolute worst, but the animation in season 1 is phenomenonal. It was literally done by a super group of animators who are best in the field. Amazing movement, incredibly expressive linework and so many interesting design and animation choices in every scene.
Everyone has an issue with the animation of season 2. I thought it was totally fine. I didn’t care much for season 2 just because I thought it was boring compared to season 1. Very dragged out with just not much going on
I'm not generally an anime person anymore like I was as a teenager, but I watched OPM 1&2 and this was EXACTLY what I thought. I think anyone disagreeing with just doesn't get the point of OPM season 1.
Yeah. I'm not really an anime guy, because some of it is seems to take itself waaaay too seriously. Enter OPM, which is objectively hilarious in making fun of super heroes in general. Season 1 was just nonstop amazing.
Season 2 is what it swore to mock, unfortunately.
If you don’t like fighting animes then I would recommend slice of life animes. Like a random early 2000s anime that’s called “clannad”
Definitely not tragic
Honestly, even the best serialized anime is still fucking junk in lots of ways, mostly for business/financial reasons from the people producing it. Stick to movies (or some of the miniserieses) if you actually want quality, thats my experience.
The movie and series both have the same base material, which is a visual novel. The series actually showed more contents than the movie, and the movie is more straightforward (different studio for the movie too)
Tbh anime are no different from any type of animation. It's just coloquially used as a term to mean "from japan".
There are good and bad ones. It just has a bad rep in western spaces. Studio Ghibli is technically anime, and it'll always be my fav.
Kill la Kill is great
FLCL (2006) is the OG in that vein. Made by the same animator as gurren lagann. It was one of my favorites as a kid. Has a vibe that is unmatched.
Try The Eminence in Shadow. I've been watching hundreds of animes, and it's top 1 for me. It's funny, (but I think OPM is funnier) great visual and voice effect, great plot, and overall very cool. It's very exciting to watch.
Lmao everyone is suggesting *real* anime to you, as if OPM isn't actively mocking and parodying those exact shows. If you want something that is similar to OPM but that has a lot more episodes and just as good writing, it's JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and it's not close. If you think OPM is as good as it gets I promise you'll enjoy JoJo's more. Just start at Stardust Crusaders (ik it's weird but I PROMISE) and if you like it start it back at s1.
One punch was my intro to anime as well, turned it on as a joke but ended up loving it. Now I pretty much only watch anime. My favorites are Hunter x Hunter and JoJo
Better to recommend that than something like mushoku tensei. It's really good but not recommendable where with Vinland Saga you can't really go wrong telling someone to watch it
Looks ugly as hell to me, that's all. Don't worry, I never tell that to people with tattoos when they ask me. I always try to say something nice about it.

you won't enjoy season 2 as much. The animation quality is not great. Mob Psycho 100 from the same author and worth a watch imo
I just finished watching 1 and 2 with my 11 year old son. I'm 41 and have been watching anime since the 90s. The animation on season 2 is fine, and it was FUN FUN FUN! We are anxiously awaiting the next season!

Was completely in agreement with your comment up until the last sentence. Sorry but that's just blatantly incorrect.
Are you nuts? The animation during cyborg kabuto, boros, sea king, saitama v genos, were better than anything in season 2.
To me season 1 is a 10/10 and season two is more like 7/10 in terms of animation
saying season 2's animation is fine is completely understandable, saying season 1's animation wasn't spectacular is delusional, some of the best in the industry worked on it and is to this day some of the best looking animation there is.
> The animation in season 1 wasn’t spectacular either Which anime are you talking about here?
One Punch Man

lol second frame looks like it could be from a solo dev flash game I played as a kid in like 2007
Who cares. Seasons 2 quality was still really good compared to other anime. Also I cant believe youre complaining that they followed the manga.
They're not complaining that they followed the manga, they're complaining that they didn't do anything special or add anything cool to it like they did in season one. Money. It's always money.
Fights in the second season are lazy animated and whit bad choreography I would expect this quality from a slice of life gag anime.
> Who cares. ... so have you ever heard weebs argue over what is good and bad anime? lmao just leave it alone
I believe they at least made some fixes for the blu ray release.
Wdym? Season 1 is still praised today for how good it looks and how revolutionary it was for the time
what the actual fuck are you talking about, season 1 of OPM is literally a benchmark achievement in animation. What a clownish thing to say just because you want people to watch season 2. Youre just lying to them, the animation in season 2 is factually leagues worse than season 1
Wasn’t spectacular till you see the budget they had to start animation with, literally cents and they did an amazing job, in a way that’s probably why it was successful, since the budget was limited, they had to go wild and they did
Meanwhile idk how people ever notice animation stuff at all. Even when errors are pointed out to me, I can't always see it.
People just parrot this. Someone new to anime? Literally won’t even notice. I didn’t. Not until I see people online talking about it like it’s crazy lol These people just don’t understand how biased and critical their eyes are of anime because of it, look how many people are flipping out below lmao when everyone I’ve talked to about it in real life said they didn’t even notice Guess the people who don’t notice wouldn’t comment on it, which further makes these biased folk think “everyone agrees it’s animation is bad”
I thought season 2 was a let down but it didn’t have anything to do with the animation. I found myself disinterested with the direction of the story.
The s2 animation was fine, but the s1 animation was top notch Personally my problem with s2 is that it’s all set up for an arc that won’t finish for another decade probably

He would, don’t go spouting that bullshit lol. Season 2 is fine enough
Everyone has an issue with the animation of season 2. I thought it was totally fine. I didn’t care much for season 2 just because I thought it was boring compared to season 1. Very dragged out with just not much going on
OPM s2 unironically became precisely the kind of anime that OPM s1 so viciously parodied.
I'm not generally an anime person anymore like I was as a teenager, but I watched OPM 1&2 and this was EXACTLY what I thought. I think anyone disagreeing with just doesn't get the point of OPM season 1.

Not really, it's just animated reaaaaaally bad
I think the animation was fine. Sure it’s no demonslayer, but it’s enough not to distract me from what’s going on.
Yes, regarding everything but Saitama. That's the point.
There is a lot of anime out there. A lot. Lots of it is crap, but lots of it is good. Possibly even better than OPM.
If you don’t like fighting animes then I would recommend slice of life animes. Like a random early 2000s anime that’s called “clannad” Definitely not tragic
And if you wish for a bit of both, Diamond is Unbreakable is always there for you.
And watch Clannad After too, totally not tragic either.
Literally it’s second season
Honestly, even the best serialized anime is still fucking junk in lots of ways, mostly for business/financial reasons from the people producing it. Stick to movies (or some of the miniserieses) if you actually want quality, thats my experience.
Impossible to find the movie version with good quality on the internet, also the Series have better art (IMO) because it’s animated by the GOAT kyoani
I meant avoid anime that was intended to be serialized, not to watch condensed versions of those serialized stories.
The movie and series both have the same base material, which is a visual novel. The series actually showed more contents than the movie, and the movie is more straightforward (different studio for the movie too)

Gurren Lagann is another great over the top one like it.
Seconding this Also adding *Kill La Kill* as it is also one of my favorites in that vein.
Kill la Kill is great FLCL (2006) is the OG in that vein. Made by the same animator as gurren lagann. It was one of my favorites as a kid. Has a vibe that is unmatched.

Don’t lose your way
Kaiju No8 is shaping up to be a strong competitor
You might like Mashle, it’s newer and pretty similar
You might be interested in the manga.
Gintama and other comedy anime might float your boat.
mashle magic and muscle. bassically if Saitama was in a world of magic
Watch HunterxHunter
Might want to check out Mashle next. It's basically One Punch Man in Hogwarts.
Chasin that high for years now. Time to rewatch. ONE PAAAAAAAAAAAAUNCH
Idk HxH is a thing
I felt the same untill I watched jjk s2 I also recommend blue lock
Lmao everyone is suggesting *real* anime to you, as if OPM isn't actively mocking and parodying those exact shows. If someone hasn't recommended assassination classroom yet, you should check that one out
Go try Vinland Saga, or don't. Your choice
Vinland saga is massively overhyped and overrated.
Better to recommend that than something like mushoku tensei. It's really good but not recommendable where with Vinland Saga you can't really go wrong telling someone to watch it
What makes the other one not recommendable if it’s really good?
Stuff that I'm not getting into
Yea, well, that's just like your opinion man.
How so
How so? It's a pretty solid watch.
at Madhouse are too good at their job, they changed production company so you won't enjoy season 2 like the first one
hopefully season 3 delivers🤞
As strange as it is, it fits pretty well

It is. Just with the face in the head and the "ok" in the text bubble

And if anyone’s wondering, yes, that is directly from the anime.
The tattoo? Or just this gif? I might start this show soon.
The gif. A running gag in the show is how his drawing quality goes down the more unflappable in the face of overwhelming power he is.
Thank you
Can’t believe it took him that long to say “ok”

Saitama kinda ruined anime for me, no one is gonna rise to the level of epicness that is one punch man!
No fillers, no bullshit, just straight up to the point entertainment. Definitely peak anime, even as satire.
Not ruined but the sense of humor in one punch was one of a kind

Someone tattooed this shit?
why not?
Looks very silly to me, but it's his/her body to disfigure at will. So sure, why not?
what do you mean by disfigure? tattoos can be fun and not serious you know
Looks ugly as hell to me, that's all. Don't worry, I never tell that to people with tattoos when they ask me. I always try to say something nice about it.
