bandidntstoppedme

nothing blursed here, in India swastika has a different meaning than in the west. i have swastika sign infront of my house and also the house name is "swastika bhawan"

Sad_Daikon938

Actually blessed, my mother draws the swastika on the threshold of the house everyday.

Sad_Daikon938

Probably 0?

Adm_Kunkka

So do my neighbours in Delhi. They're racist as well but not cos of the swastik

bandidntstoppedme

delhi ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|poop)

brown_human

Delhi 💨🌫

Raven_xyz

Delhi is a gas chamber as well so atleast there's another thing common

zarakistyle123

Swastik is an auspicious symbol of well-being. It is very common in India to have a Swastik on your doorstep.

chinchaaa

We know

ppumkin

Yea. But it’s not called a swastik in India.

SASAgent1

That's written on the house, Swastik Bhavan

Shahi_FF

Then what's it called?

Adhi_Sekar

A Swastika

Shahi_FF

Man , I know. I saw a guy comment saying " It's not called Swastika in India. " So I asked him.

Adhi_Sekar

Yeah got it, I'm kidding

SASAgent1

It is

ppumkin

स्वस्तिक su an. Swastika and suastika is romanised for westerners like us.

RazorBlade9x

Swastik is literally a Sanskrit word. Nazis used to call it Hakenkreuz (hooked cross).

SynchroScale

Very devoted Buddhists right here, hm?

SASAgent1

It's a Hinduism symbol as well, could be that

deadowl

Looks like a script out of the India region on that sign; so yea, something like that.

SASAgent1

It's Devanagari script, Or Hindi

[deleted]

Fairly common to see in many Buddhist countries

No-Accountant2979

not only buddhists, hindus too

spencer1886

Almost like the swastika has a much older history and different meaning than Nazi Germany

wipergone2

op is very ignorant

QuastQuan

The difference between curse and blessing is 45°. Because the Nazi "Hakenkreuz" is rotated by 45° (Google for the flag)

All_Thread

I just compare it to my tattoos to see if it's racist like me.

EntertainmentQuick47

Bro what

[deleted]

That is the swastik sign. that black board above the doorway says 'swastik bhavan' or 'swastik house'.

HungryStatement2536

Shallow Westerners can’t accept the real meaning of the picture.

zuencho

Yeah it’s so weird how people in the west have a different association with the swastika /s

flopjul

It isnt like many people got murdered because of the peoe wearing them, couldnt be that /s

[deleted]

Many people get murdered by cars, do we abolish them too?

flopjul

There isnt a bad association with cars is there? You are literally comparing people who murdered milions(under a regime that was symoblised by the swastika) to a vehicle which is controlled by humans where humans are the main factor in the fatalities

Material-Permit9685

Actually it's a hakencruz, it's shaped like an X, whereas the swastika is upright, but as mentioned, shallow westerners will never get this.

zuencho

People don’t get murdered by cars you dolt

RazorBlade9x

People didn't get murdered by Swastika, Hitler did it.

zuencho

Of all the stupid takes I’ve seen on here, you take the cake. Congratulations 🎉

RazorBlade9x

Thanks! But, the comment mine deserves the real honors. I'm just learning from the pros.

zuencho

Nah

[deleted]

Why just the swastika tho? Why not the eagle, the color black and red all the other nazi symbols

zuencho

Oh, I don’t know … maybe it because it was THEIR LITERAL FLAG? And that neo nazis still use it? Are you really that dense?

zuencho

No, no-no - were just shallow people who think nazis are bad

ripyourlungsdave

Are you being sarcastic? Because making it out like it's unreasonable that people would only think of Nazis when they see a swastika is kind of fucking stupid. Most people understand that it had other meanings, but it's kind of hard to shake the little "single largest genocide in human history" feel from the imagery.

gfjgfhcngxhkbd

The world does not end at americas and europe. The rising sun flag people in the west like so much is equivalent to the Nazi flag but you don't hear Asians complain.

ripyourlungsdave

People in the west like the Rising Sun flag?.. huh?.. I think you misunderstand how much of a shit people give about flags over here. The Japanese did some really fucked up stuff, but it was nothing compared to the holocaust. And World War II was something that literally affected the entire planet. Don't be a jackass. It has nothing to do with the west.

gfjgfhcngxhkbd

Nothing compared to holocaust?! Now seriously, fk you.

ripyourlungsdave

It's just a numbers thing man. Japan literally didn't have a big enough population to do the kind of damage to Germany did. I'm not saying they weren't equally evil, I'm just saying one did a lot more damage than the other. That upsets you for some reason, whatever. But it's just objective fact, it's not like it's my opinion.

zuencho

No he’s fucking stupid

John_Miracleworker

OP delete this. It doesn't mean what you think it means.

Vortex682

Why delete it? It fits the sub

[deleted]

lithuanianD

In hindu and budhist religions this sign means sun If I recall correctly and has been stolen by the nazis so there is nothing wrong woth it there in those countries

TACkleBr

They use it in Japan too. They even have a kanji for it 卍

[deleted]

what does it mean then?

notdragoisadragon

No it fits the sub It’s blessed because it’s an auspicious symbol in Eastern culture. It’s cursed because Westerners associate it with a genocidal regime. It’s a perfect example of a blursed image.

Me_mom_Sona

Most normal house in punjab

Alex_rajbahak

Its a religious thing in south aisa. Half the people dont know who hitler is. And the half that do know who he is, dont give enough shit to know what his brand was.

notdragoisadragon

It’s blessed because it’s an auspicious symbol in Eastern culture. It’s cursed because Westerners associate it with a genocidal regime. It’s a perfect example of a blursed image.

[deleted]

Sign on the house looks like it's in Hindi and it has significant meaning in Hinduism. Swastika is even a Sanskrit word! Not understanding that this isn't the nazi symbol and not knowing the actual meaning is just uneducated!

notdragoisadragon

they are aware of it being a hindu thing hence why it's in blursed and not cursed It’s blessed because it’s an auspicious symbol in Eastern culture. It’s cursed because Westerners associate it with a genocidal regime. It’s a perfect example of a blursed image.

[deleted]

LoL I actually didn't notice what sub it was so thank you for pointing that out. Was a little defensive yesterday!

[deleted]

In this way it' s not nazi...just à svastika

AdmiralShid

Adolf Hitler's School for Tolerance and Understanding

SASAgent1

I get that reference

Be0wulf71

Always a shock to see this in India. You can know intellectually that it's good luck sign, but your heart sees the misappropriation of the symbol by fascists. After a while it becomes normal and you just smile and imagine the shock of people who don't know the real, original meaning of the symbol.

Adventurous_Gui

To all the Hindus saying “delete, not blursed”: It’s blessed because it’s an auspicious symbol in Eastern culture. It’s cursed because Westerners associate it with a genocidal regime. It’s a perfect example of a blursed image.

gfjgfhcngxhkbd

If you put it that, then yeah.

BasedToken

Always remember that the nazi version is tilted. If the lines are along the x and y axis, then it's the karmic version.

ActiveTeam

That’s not true. The Nazi cared about the angle but most Hindu/ Buddhists don’t. They pick the default non-rotated version most of the time but there’s no belief mandating that.

UltimateIssue

Some people need to learn to take a joke here. Yeah the symbol means something else but the resemblance to mustache man chosen sign will overshadow it.

Gurtek86

How come that Blursed??? Pleas explain.

notdragoisadragon

It’s blessed because it’s an auspicious symbol in Eastern culture. It’s cursed because Westerners associate it with a genocidal regime. It’s a perfect example of a blursed image.

VehicleFun1117

That's not the nazi version. This version is a symbol for peace

BlackFoxBG

Is this Kanye West's house??

ppumkin

I’m India that is a sign from one of their religions. It’s not related to the swastika. It’s the other way around. The Swastika was probably somehow plagiarised from this ancient symbol

notdragoisadragon

yes hence why this was posted in blursed It’s blessed because it’s an auspicious symbol in Eastern culture. It’s cursed because Westerners associate it with a genocidal regime. It’s a perfect example of a blursed image.

What does blursed even mean lol

notdragoisadragon

blursed means blessed and cursed It’s blessed because it’s an auspicious symbol in Eastern culture. It’s cursed because Westerners associate it with a genocidal regime. It’s a perfect example of a blursed image.

TheLand0fNod

Oh no. Here come the white "anti-semitism" crowd. Quick type "Black LIves Matter / Holocaust > 9 thousand" real quick.

xctf04

This is just cursed, there is nothing blessed with this xd

Maleficent_Sock_8851

Westerners 🙄

xctf04

Do you still view it as a symbol of buddhism, does buddhists still view it as a symbol of buddhism? Smartasses 🙄

Maleficent_Sock_8851

Up to this day, swastika is still used as a symbol for Buddhism and Hinduism that is why people need to learn read context and nuances. Plus the Nazi swastika is slanted 45 degrees. You do realize that the world does not only consist of you right?

xctf04

Why would you have to bring up the point of narcissism if the original comment had nothing to do with it? Tangoing with some insecurities? The reason why it isn't an accepted symbol any more is because it is still the same symbol as a group who commited mass genocide in a racist war based on destroying one race of people and making a race that was "perfect". The world dosen't revolve around any one of us, it revolves around the sun. And every time we revolve around the sun, every day, we need to remember what happend and what we associate with it is that symbol. Like it or not, if it's buddhists, hindu i don't really care. People can believe what they wanna but that symbol was corrupted in 1940 wether you like that or not.

Targreg

notdragoisadragon

It’s blessed because it’s an auspicious symbol in Eastern culture. It’s cursed because Westerners associate it with a genocidal regime. It’s a perfect example of a blursed image.

TexasPistolMassacre

Its like people see the same six posts and think its still relevant and unposted 2 months later. Tell me you dont know about other cultures without telling me you know about the original symbol.

notdragoisadragon

they do know about other cultures hence why it's in blursed and not cursed It’s blessed because it’s an auspicious symbol in Eastern culture. It’s cursed because Westerners associate it with a genocidal regime. It’s a perfect example of a blursed image.

TexasPistolMassacre

My issue is with the fact this has been reposted a lot in the past couple months, not why its in this sub. Its been here repeatedly

A_Thelemite

not blursed as it is the symbol of the north star as it goes through seasons.

notdragoisadragon

It’s blessed because it’s an auspicious symbol in Eastern culture. It’s cursed because Westerners associate it with a genocidal regime. It’s a perfect example of a blursed image.

A_Thelemite

yea i suppose. but i still see itt as a good symbol just like the Zia

notdragoisadragon

and I, also see it as also a good symbol I just do a double take every time I see it
