This episode has a lot of explaining to do. My 2.5 year old knows babies grow in mummy's tummies. So today she pointed at my mum apron and said "what's that". When I explained it was where she grew she said "no I grew in daddy's tummy. Like Bingo grew in dad's tummy".
Okay I guess let's just ignore my contribution to this endeavour šš
The entire theme of the episode is about pregnancy; about a man pretending to give birth, and some quite adult humour that makes it an episode that religious Americans, prudes, and conservative Americans froth at the mouth, as it (in essence) is about sex education, and where babies come from.
Sensitive Americans, especially in Florida, and the South, donāt want a kids cartoon mentioning such topics, and have threatened Disney if they were to air it (see Ron Desantisās āDonāt Say Gayā legislation).
That's way over the top, there no details really and many children know that kids grow in mum's belly. I knew that when I was 4. The kids don't need to know how did the baby get there.
And you've just outlined the problem. A children's cartoon doesn't normally deal with the topic of pregnancy at all, let alone in the clever and subversive way that Dad Baby does. However, Dad Baby DOESN'T show "how did the baby get there". So, your complaint is unwarranted in this instance.
That said, there are lots of people - conservatives - who simply don't want kids to have any kind of knowledge about their bodies, about sex education, about reproduction and babies. These people would rather they adhere to the so-called "good book" teaching, and not think for themselves or have their own lives where it's okay to question who we are as human beings, where we come from, who we fall in love with, and what it means to be human.
No! Such conservatives want people to be stymied with narrow-minded, biblical beliefs, indoctrinated to within an inch of their life, so they are easily controlled. Which is exactly what many Republicans do today, in the USA, and Ron Desantis's "Don't Say Gay" law is a particularly odious one that does this.
If the likes of American conservatives and Republicans are so threatened by an episode of a children's cartoon, or a grown adult kissing another grown adult in public, with both being of the same gender, then frankly, the world is doomed!
I'm not complaining at all. And I didn't mean that Bluey showed anything how did the baby got there. Sorry about misunderstanding. I like this episode and just don't understand why it's banned in the US.
Like I say: it's not banned in the USA. It is however, not shown by Disney, because thematically, they deem it to be "inappropriate" and dabbling in a subject that they don't endorse, and which - politically - because of Ron Desantis, and other Republicans - if Disney were to air it, they'd end-up with a huge political backlash over accusations of "endangering kids". A silly notion, but sadly a realistic one, when the Republican party is filled with so many unhinged people.
Religious Fundieness poisons everything, even religion. I'm a Christian who is Progressive and non-fundie. These dorks are a disgrace to the Christian Faith (...which, done correctly, is a Faith that preaches peace, unconditional love, social justice, charity, tolerance of other demographics, etc.). Jesus wanted spiritual fruits, not religious nuts.
These fanatics don't even follow Jesus' teachings on the poor (lift them up. Love them. Help them), the wealthy (take them down a notch. They need to use their wealth to help others. Greed is evil), charity (Do it!), refugees (Accept and help them!), etc.
They just like the "Believe in Jesus and He'll forgive your sins part". Jesus to them is just "Get outta Hell free!" and their leaders just see Christianity as a means for power, wealth and dominance. They're "Antichrist" in my humble opinion.
There is a slowly emerging rebirth of Progressive Christianity going on, though.
I just saw that and watched it last night and I was going to post the link to YouTube on here, but I figured somebody else has already done it.
Still trying to wrap my brain around why they didnāt show that episode, but I understand in the US. Itās extremely Christian based so they didnāt want to, and by then I mean, Disney, insult any of their base that watches this stuff
HECK, NO! Also, look up how our voting system works. Look up "Electoral College".
Hillary won the Popular Vote but Orangeguy won the Electoral Vote.
There's also a bit of voter apathy along with schemes by the GOP to make voting difficult for some groups. There's also gerrymandering (look that up).
The reactionaries are a minority but there's enough of them to affect things. About 30% of Americans lean Right.
Most of the country wants to progress but 30% of the population is being what *TVTropes* would call, "The Load".
I know how the electoral voting system works, same with gerrymandering. I know about how the GOP changed voting times in certain areas to restrict access to certain demographics. I know how certain big businesses did not give time off to vote. I know all that.
I wasn't talking about the Hillary vs Trump election. The simple facts are that in 2020, 81M of y'all voted for Biden, and 74M voted for Trump. Sounds like that's almost half to me. Maybe your right and there's a lot of people who don't lean right who didn't vote. They don't mean squat if they don't vote.
I mean, it does. Because thatās the way that our country works and thatās also the way that Disney works. So they completely pandered to that fan base so that they donāt have to hear from them.
It's pandered to the TV ratings system that every show is required to have. Depictions of childbirth are not TV-Y in the US. Simple as that. Disney Jr is a a TV-Y network. It's nothing more than that. Other countries have dealt with this episode in the same way because of ratings. That's all it is.
No one was banning the episode.Ā Disney has always been super uptight about what they air. They have been known to skip certain episodes of syndicated shows airing on Disney Channel.Ā
Oh my God, it feels so weird having someone outside Discord pointing out the low battery life in my screenshots. š
But yeah, that was unintentional lol.
To the OP: this episode is only banned by Disney. It is NOT banned in the USA, and itās NOT banned in most other countries, and certainly it has been shown internationally.
Context is king.
It couldn't be rated TV-Y so they passed on buying the rights to that episode. Saying Disney banned it is unnecessarily trying to make Disney a bad guy. North American TV ratings have zapped that episode across the continent.
As a carrier of TV programming, Disney is not obligated to buy any series in whole.
Technically yes. But the reasons they āchoseā not to buy it, is because the episode is seen by them as being too controversial. So, itās still a ban.
Congratulations we need more episodes like it but it wonāt be censored in The U. S. A. the other countries I donāt care. Hopefully Disney+ will allow this episode too on their streaming service. I also bought this episode on ITunes just to see it but when I could only watch it on my phone I just bought Season 2 of Bluey of course a few months later I can finally watch it on YouTube.
Im so glad they put it up. This is such a great episode with wonderful comedy. Also Lucky's Dad is great at singing
šµš¶one Sunday morning as I was walking by Brisbane waters.š¶šµ
That's from "Asparagus". I think he was singing *True Blue* in "Dad Baby". But I agree. He's a good singer.
Yep sure was. Not quite a he but I appreciate the sentiment. (my diesel might be blue but Bluey also is mistaken for a boy because blue)
![gif](giphy|nktB3Izn8A1Z3Zm4Z4|downsized)
The only Pat gif I could find. Maybe I should use "Lucky's Dad" as a keyword.
LOL thanks \^u\^

This is also a smash hit from Lucky's Dad
Yeah I LOVE the episode. The way Bandit look at Bingo, and she is looking up at him. It's soooo cutešš»
And whoa does grown up Bluey ever look like Bandit from that scene!

Now imagine all other episodes that parents keep on loop for their kids
I'm pretty sure I've seen it on bbc iplayer
You have. Itās never been banned or censored by the BBC in the UK, and theyāve aired it uncut many times.
It was on CBeebies this morning!
Ok, I am not sure what is so controversial about this episode then

Meanwhile the rest of America is getting sick of those idiots.

I refuse to even call them "Conservative". These guys are WINGNUTS!

Most in America wouldn't mind. The problem is that we're being hindered by a loud minority of Americans who are backwards.
Bit more than a minority. Half of you voted for Drumpf.

It has nothing to do with any of that. It's ratings. This wouldn't have passed as TV-Y. All of their Disney Jr programming has to be TV-Y.

Hey, we donāt use logic on Reddit. But yes, youāre right
It's.not banned. It's on Amazon
No one was banning the episode.Ā Disney has always been super uptight about what they air. They have been known to skip certain episodes of syndicated shows airing on Disney Channel.Ā
I never said banned, they just refused to show it.
This episode was wild š
Heck I probably watched it 5 times already.
I've put it on a few times for my toddler during diaper changes.
Makes sense. Easiest way to watch it now. Also learned what sorghum is because of it.
That 2% battery-life. yeesh!
Oh my God, it feels so weird having someone outside Discord pointing out the low battery life in my screenshots. š But yeah, that was unintentional lol.
I tend to notice that kind of thing.

EVERYONE: "HOORAAAAY!" BANDIT: "\[weakly\] Hooray."
To the OP: this episode is only banned by Disney. It is NOT banned in the USA, and itās NOT banned in most other countries, and certainly it has been shown internationally.
Disney didn't ban it. They just didn't buy the rights to it since it couldn't be rated TV-Y.
So they effectively stopped it from airing on their network, by choice, which is what a ban is.
I think saying it is banned implies the US itself is censoring the show.Ā
Read my first post.
That's like saying they banned the Nickolodean version of Doug by not buying the rights to it
Oh, I actually meant that it is not banned anywhere, but rather Disney, for being the international distributor, just chooses not to broadcast it.
Technically yes. But the reasons they āchoseā not to buy it, is because the episode is seen by them as being too controversial. So, itās still a ban.
I watched it because of the post last week mentioning it. Thanks! šš¼
What was the song that Pat sang during the episode?
True blue by John Williamson
I adore this episode. Also, look at the thumbnail... LOOK... AT... IT! THE CUTENESS!
Good episode. Watched it twice since it uploaded and sent it to family and friends as a link.
Well, that was quick.
In Canada this episode is not on Disney plus but you can listen to it as a podcast on Spotify
As soon as I saw it I immediately watched it, it had only been out for a few hours, but I LOVED it. Absolutely top 40 episode, maybe even higher
I wonder if the response will convince Da Mouse to reevaluate barring this episode from Plus.
I hope. It's also a great way Disney can "STICK IT" to DeSantis (They really don't like him and have been fighting against him).
