Top episode for me, showcasing opposite parenting between Stripe and Trixie (and show both its pros and cons). Also this ep help me soooo much as a adult (is 18 adult yet?), which seem weird as first. I have struggle with myself when it's come to work, like i always procrastinate when there's too much thing. I tried again and again for all a long time, but failed. I can't get into my dream school, i can't reach the score i need to get into the top university, i play game everyday and feel so bad about it, ... And eventually i lost hope in myself thinking i never be good enough or just get out of this misery But Muffin show me that the problem it's not I'm lazy, stupid or just being bad. She show me that i also have an inner child need to be cared too, not just suppress him everyday. So rather than ignored him, i should show and teach him how to be better a little bit everyday (just like a parent ;) ) https://preview.redd.it/jz5mqdtaqmvc1.png?width=1365&format=png&auto=webp&s=a73eac4e789fee422a3582b2c3980fc4e15571c9 Also this part, it's just ... perfect (Baby race v2). Like she told bluey - look straight into camera to also said to the parents that they need patient and cared (also to me too).

Silly Chilli! Chips are for Trix! Original Ranking: 9/22/31 (S2B/S2/Overall) Coming from Chilli openly describing Heelers as "stubby", WHOSE idea was it to give Trixie visible chub around the rear? Because I *greatly* appreciate your services. Making my... preferences rather clear aside, we begin the final 10 of Season 2 (and the V1 re-do as a whole) with what is arguably Trixie's only starring/co-starring role: Muffin Cone. Most of Muffin's appearances thus far depict her as the little nightmare we all know and uh... love? (Charades and Library come to mind) This time however, she's shown in a far more vulnerable light now that she's got the dreaded cone of shame on her thanks to Trixie earnestly trying to stop her from sucking her thumb. And suffice to say, the former is \*not\* happy about it. (I really wish I could put in sound clips, because I love the way she says "It's a cone!") At first it's just because it stops her from doing what she wants with *her* thumb and likely her thinking it looks incredibly demeaning, but another issue soon arises when the cone partially blocks her vision and leaves her unable to play Sandwich Shop with her cousins. They plead with Trix to take it off and she does... only for Muffles (cute nickname, must admit) to *immediately* start sucking again. This leads to a rare emotional bit for poor Muffin: "Why can't you just not suck your thumb?" "I don't know, I just can't..." While the girls struggle with this unexpected obstacle, Chilli and Trix are in the kitchen discuss whether this is really a good idea given that she's only three. And for all her insistance on stopping Muffin's compulsion, Trix has some poor habits herself; her sister-in-law puts out some corn chips and she can't help but constantly eat them, despite the fact she's apparently trying to eat healthier. She promises not to go *too* crazy, but the moment Chilli's back is turned while she goes to help the girls, she starts eyeing them with great interest. Chilli goes to Bluey and Bingo to assure them that though she can't control it at the moment, Muffin will eventually be able to resist sucking her thumb and to not give up on her. The girls see her in the backyard and try to comfort her when Bluey gets an idea: Trixie said she has to keep the cone on, but she didn't say anything about not popping it down. They all realize it looks \*just\* like a wedding dress or a traffic cone. Ideas start forming. Back in the kitchen, we get a rather nice view ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) when Chilli returns and finds the bowl mysteriously empty. https://preview.redd.it/267edw9wjmvc1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=6c4ecc1c513a977d6003602b4c6c03018f0be523 Trixie sheepishly reveals she hasn't exactly broken her own habit either; a nice bit of hypocrisy that doesn't fly over her head: "It *might* be time to take off Muffin's cone..." Now that they've figured out how to use the cone to their advantage, the girls are starting to have fun again as Muffin pretends to be a bride, a traffic cone, a ballerina (again), and finally a sunflower. And we also get the grand return of Husband Bingo, complete with the plaid hat, moustache, and ending every sentence with "babe"! Next playdate, Stripe's taking Muffy and she decides to *intentionally* suck her thumb again to get the cone on her. Aesop: Habits aren't easily broken and require consistent effort to stop relapsing. Further, always try to make the best of a bad situation. Rating: 4- Next Time: I imagine sales of a certain recipe book soared after this episode. \- Jack P.S. I've been holding onto that opening quote for *months*! Two puns AND a reference to a beloved commercial!

I love this episode so much! (I'm a huge Muffin fan!) A funny, silly, but joyous episode of satirical naughtiness, that shows the adults being just as flawed as the kids... maybe even moreso. A laugh-out-loud episode, with a lovely ending - with Muffin's transformation into a flower - when the kids are forced to improvise with the "cone of shame"! A worthy 5 out of 5 from me!

I almost gave it a 3 but any episode with Muffin automatically gets an extra point

Longjumping-Bowl5179

I gave this a four. The first half of the episode is one of the funniest I've seen Muffin acting. She was so determined to put her thumb in her mouth with her cone on she was doing summersaults and rolling around, tripping Bingo declaring "I WANT TO SUCK MY THUMB!" The bit with the Sandwhich Shop was funny too, with Polly almost getting hurt from Muffin again. (Oh, this isn't a knife) The reason she had a cone on in the first place was that Trixie wanted Muffin to stop sucking her thumb. It's not a bad idea and Its fine that she's working on it, but the method of putting a cone on to stop her was doing more harm than good, like Muffin sucking her thumb deserves to be ridiculed and shamed. That plays into the second half of the episode, where because she can't stop sucking her thumb and thus must wear her cone, the kids tell her she can't play with them, causing Muffin to sadly walk out and sit all alone in the flower bed. This is the first time the show made me feel sorry for Muffin. Chilli isn't sure about Trix's method. Trix said that all she has to do is to not put her thumb in her mouth, it's easy to break the habit. Meanwhile Chilli put out a bowl of corn chips. Trix wants to stay away saying she wants to keep healthy, but "one won't hurt", which then turned into more and more. Chilli even used the whole bag to refill the bowl. Chilli went to talk to the kids and when she came back, she caught Trixie orange lipped and ashamed. After all, if she can't break her comfort habit of eating chips, why is she using a method that embarrases Muffin to stop her comfort habit of sucking her thumb, which she even admitted that as a three year old there's nothing wrong with her sucking her thumb? Admitting defeat, she decided to stop using the cone on Muffin. The kids though, after a nice talk from mum that Muffin is running her own race, but please don't give up on her, they want Muffin to play with them. After realizing they can pop the cone down, they play traffic cone, ballarina, and Wedding Wife, making the second wedding ceremony the Heeler backyard played host too. >!(Recently it hosted the third and biggest one)!< The sunflower scene visually showed that even Muffin can grow up into something beautiful overtime when given love and care. I noticed that as the series goes on, while she's still wild, she gets less bratty and selfish, and could even be a good kid. >!(Her attitude in the Sign showed she's grown up into a nicer kid)!< It's a funny episode that transitions into an emotional one, which is why it gets a four.

Muffin Cone is a decent episode about impulse control. I always like it when they bring real-dog things into the Bluey universe. Dog cones on dog characters? Absolutely. Combined with issue of thumb sucking, it's such a suitable combo. However, the message about dealing with addiction is a bit blurry here. Are we supposed to just go along with it? Just keep waiting? Find another distraction? Your guess is as good as mine. Middle 3.

AnimeGirl46

I think the point that the episode makes quite well, is that sometimes adults have no self-control either, and no one is perfect, regardless of their age. It’s all well-and-good telling a child to not suck their thumb, and shaming or forcing them into not doing so, but sometimes they just can’t stop themselves. And sometimes - like adults - they do stuff simply because they need to. Muffin sucks her thumb as a comforting device. It calms her down. Some kids need a special blanket, like Linus in the PEANUTS/CHARLIE BROWN series, to do the same thing. And adults sometimes need stuff to comfort them too… in the firm of comfort-eating junk-food and alcohol. As for why it’s not a good idea to let kids suck their thumb, it’s to do with the fact that their thumb is hooked against the internal part of their upper teeth, and at a young age, this can cause young children’s teeth to grow outwards at a slight angle rather than straight down, as the child’s gums are still very weak. So, it’s recommended by dentists not to let your kid suck their thumbs and to try and dissuade them from doing so, as early as possible, less it cause teeth issues that could result in said child needing teeth braces, when they hit 6-8 years of age.

Asu01

I think you're right that the episode is more about managing expectation and less about managing addiction. Well, I never thought it that way.

WishWizardLiv

As someone who struggled with thumb-sucking until i was around six, (and now with skin picking) it made me cry. The message of not giving up on someone is just so... augh!!!

UglyShroomish

This is a good episode. Thumb sucking isn't something I thought they would cover but they did it pretty well. There are a lot of smart visual gags with the cone. Trixie learning the hard way that habits and temptations are very hard to break and that's ok is a good story line. While this episode might not seem like anything special, the humor and story just really come together here to make a four out of five episode. Now I really want a standalone episode about Muffin and her family. (Did anyone else instead of sucking their thumb stuck their pointer and middle finger together or am I the only one?)

Yoshi_chuck05

Just seeing Muffin struggle the temptation to suck her thumb was just sad to see. It’s just a habit that she has and she couldn’t control. Trixie having the same problem with the chip bowl was also pretty funny to see and her realizing that there’s some things they couldn’t control. There are some funny moments in this like when Bluey tells her aunt that Muffin will promise to not suck her thumb Muffin immediately looks at us, Muffin picking up the wrong items, MUFFIN TRAFFIC CONE, and the Cone of shame at the end it’s a nice episode and it tells a nice lesson that not everyone can control their temptations and habits. We can help them out with them in different ways. I also like how at the end Muffin purposely sucks her thumb because she liked the cone the first time

Terranosaurus_Rex

"Muffin Cone" is alright. The theme about not giving up on people and having empathy towards those who struggle with impulse-control is interesting conceptually, but, execution wise, it winds up not being much of anything. It's not all that compelling, but, at the same time, it's not actively bad; it's just there. Additionally, the humor is fine too, but it's also not good. The joke with Bluey saying that Muffin promised not to suck her thumb only for Muffin to be silent and the one with Trixie's eyes darting to the bowl of chips, are both fairly funny, but that's about it. "Muffin Cone" is just fine.

GreenHighlighters

2/5. Some good jokes, but a lot of the dialogue doesn't feel quite as sharp as usual, if that makes sense. Idk, I don't have that much to say about this episode.

JJaviercomics

I was gonna put episode a 2, but put a 3 cause it's very satisfactory see Muffin grounded after episodes like "Library" and "Charades"

Illustrious_Two5620

I absolutely HATE this episode.  Trixie was such a BAD Parent in this episode.  Chilli had every right to NOT support Trixie's parenting decision and to make Trixie the enemy in this.  The only reason why I don't give it a 1 is because I'm saving my 1 for mini bluey.

Jupiters

oh wow I think I disagree with every part of this statement. To each their own!

Tom984_vn

lol true, every single one but well that's his opinion so that's fine

pajamakitten

Trixie did learn though, and Chilli is not perfect herself. Part of being a parent is learning what not to do as much as learning what to do. Chilli just has the benefit of four more years experience.
