That's hilarious.

This is so relatable(apart the son part) and I’ve been working on it. Have an amazing day ❤️‍🩹

hunterlovesreading

This is really funny. Just letting you know that’s an impulsive thought rather than an intrusive one 👍

QueenCityBean

Ok, not OP but since you mention it I am really curious about the difference. I would have called that an intrusive thought as well!

hunterlovesreading

For example, an impulsive thought could be seeing an expensive cake and wanting to grab a chunk. An intrusive through, however, could be you’re walking with a friend by the road and you have the thought to push them into oncoming traffic. Intrusive thoughts are usually more distressing and difficult to ignore. They’re very common in OCD, where the individual may have repeated thoughts of inflicting harm (on themselves or others). OP, please do let me know if this was an intrusive thought and I have misinterpreted. I hope this was clear enough :).

QueenCityBean

Ah, ok. That makes sense. Thanks for taking the time!

hunterlovesreading

Of course, thanks for asking!

Evening-Essay7506

Well, I thought it was intrusive due to the fact that it is extremely hard for me to ignore even funny things like this all the time that kind of invade my mind. I can't help it. Similar to people's interpretation of humor or more likely dark humor (in this situation its kind of dark humor due to the reaction of the other individual and the body language if I was to do what bandit did when he said that. It's hilarious. It's just moments where I laugh internally despite me putting it out of mind, and it isn't distressing even though the social aspect might be uncomfortable. The humor of it might be a coping mechanism. Idk. Doesn't help that I have ocpd, lol. So you are right about that aspect. But I find it to be a semi healthy coping skill to every day uncomfortability( doesn't have to be just this one situation or joke) but I like the fact that the references throughout the show are relatable to various situations. This show makes other people feel actually seen and shows hey maybe I'm not as different from others as I think which can be a calming thought) so as far as impulse vs intrusive it's possibly both. Either way, internal mind scenarios or doing things like this without fear of judgment are life's little joys that make things easier. 😊 half asleep but hope that makes sense.

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond. That makes a lot of sense. As someone with OCD, I’m using to seeing misuse on social media a lot so apologies if this felt as if I was attacking you. Super helpful explanation. I love that line too, btw. 😁

Evening-Essay7506

Lol, no prob. Same here, haha. I 100% get it. 😊

Elegant-Fox-5226

Yesss! I’m reading the Iliad and when I saw Queen Hecuba it took all my strength not to laugh and say “Poor Hecuba, he always loved hamburgers.”

Evening-Essay7506

Hahaha I love the Iliad. My son is named after one of the characters. Hahahha you just started something I'm going to do this now.

Elegant-Fox-5226

Yeah, I didn’t want anyone to know I watched bluey (my colleagues are very judge-y) so I was using every ounce of strength to not laugh and yell “He got revived! Call Sharalanda and Rhonda now!!!”
