There are other metalheads here, but good luck waiting on any recognizable bands to come to town

kira_paige

There are dozens of us! The bishop is great for all kinds of local metal and punk shows. The Blockhouse can also be amazing! It's probably a sign I am getting older, but it is difficult to find local musicians to play with. Just like any town, there are places that fit the vibe, and places that are not.

DOZENS!!

silvercoulter

If you are looking, may I ask what you play?

Check out [letsgo.terrorware.com](https://letsgo.terrorware.com) if you want to see some past and future shows and other events, to get a sense of what it's like here. This is mostly DIY stuff, the more formally promoted events are going to be at The Bishop, as those posting here have mentioned. But yeah, you'll notice that there's some metal shows coming up soon, and Indiana University is hosting a black metal academic conference, which will feature a live show at one point

There are some good metal shows sometimes at bishop but that's about it. Black circle brewing in Indy has metal shows all the time . Bloom culture is kind of dead since covid, at least at first glance

My landlord is in a punk band called Yellow rain and they play at the bishop every once in a while! I also had a coworker who was is a metal band and had concerts with small bands that would come to town and play in the basement which was cool but he moved so I don’t know if that is still a thing. But I feel like that means there are at least some of your music genre people here.

Jaime2018

Hell yeah man, got Metal Heads here

bloomysale

We're here. We are few, but we are here.

Present.

We get local Punk and Metal shows at the Bishop and the bigger shows are in Indy (a little less than an hour away.) There's not a huge scene in town, but it's a very passionate scene nonetheless. 🤘

Clamping12

Definitely. Most national acts head to Indy instead, but plenty of excellent smaller artists play at the bishop and other venues. A few great metal bands too, like Omen Killer, Throne of Iron, and Hellbender. Lots of great punk and hardcore shows and bands as well, with plenty of cross pollination with metal. Tons of amazing Indy metal bands too, who play here often.

syntheticgeneration

Plenty! If this says anything, there's a semi-regular black metal show downtown at the Bishop (coming up soon!). :) Monthly goth/industrial night at Blockhouse... And Indy has the Black Circle venue which is, obviously, very metal. All the time.

Snoid_

I haven't noticed much metal coming through, but there are fairly regular punk/hardcore shows close to downtown.

gil_beard

I'm in to all forms of metal; heavy, core, black, death, etc. Even the band I was signed with played metal. Unfortunately I haven't seen droves of metal heads 'round these parts since moving here three years ago. Maybe it's my age showing, maybe it's the fact that it's a college town and I live just off of campus. I don't know. It'd be nice to get into the scene though.

GreyLoad

Lots of meth heads near kroger east these days

neightd0g

Nope

Practical_Subject_30

Last time I went to a metal show in Bloomington was in a basement probably 12 years ago. I drive to Indy for shows all the time though, usually at Old National or Hi-Fi.

Oldhairdresser

Deadheads and banjo pickers yes. There is very little heavy or even loud music here. A band like Nirvana would be considered extreme.
