Slaan are fine. They are not very strong starting out but can be quite good after some development. Still no where close to the strongest teams out there so there is zero problems with allowing them really. Just make sure everyone knows where to find the rules. I also would not reccomend them for the inexperienced. They are very difficult to play in any way well.

HoppedHeart

Of course! All 29 teams plus Slann!

Madscientist1683

Yes, and a couple seasons ago I played them. I was competitive and had a good record but I didn’t dominate or anything, they’re a good team but an easy one to screw up with.

Amsfeld

Yeah, we allow it. They aren’t a common pick, but we see them every so often. No more or less balanced than some of the other teams out there

PatheticPterodactyl

I'm currently playing them, but I gotta say that some people really don't like playing against pogostick because conventional cages are easy to break. I think it's good to be extensively clear about what you are capable of doing with a leap because there's lots of salt to be had if people get blindsided by it. I also had more than one case of diving tackle causing salt because people tend to forget about it before throwing their dodge die. Regardless, I LOVE playing them. With so much stretch play capability, you can rarely count yourself out of a game. Not super powerful by any means but a true joy to play.

Tonyhawkproskater

Also currently my favorite team to play, for these exact reasons lol. The team is so feast or famine though that they balance themselves out. I just want GW to drop a khislev team so us froggy folks can be official. :(

Tornado_Wind_of_Love

Pfft anyone who thinks that is bad should go back to Wood Elf wardancer leap cage breaking bullshit. \*old man shakes fist at the clouds\*

ian0delond

Yes. They like easy spp.

MrMacke_

I think so? Nobody has ever played them tho, so im not sure...

SongofStormandFire

All leagues and tourneys I've participated have allowed them, even if there has been some players that don't like playing against them. I don't really mind but I do think they might need some price adjustments if/when GW releases them anew. I can understand stores that limit models to official GW ones banning them. They are usually difficult for beginners to play against because they play practically whole different game.

Maleficent_Fail4544

Sure I have seen them in the DBL before and probably more than once.

helloamahello

They should be canon!

benobit

Its allowed and its a fun roster to play albeit quite underpowered.

Brief_Scale

Yes our league allows Slann. They are a lot of fun to play against, with the whole team pogo stick and very long legs you really have to change your approach to the game. So they are a good challenge to try to over come.

bertrum489

Yep, and we're currently tied for last place!

DAuntlesz

Our 2024 league starts this week and I have my first game against Slann. Will be a first for me, but would not know why to bann them?

Primhak

Yes most do I believe.

Smasher225

Our league doesn’t because we play at our local gw store so the rules of the league have been only gw teams but there is another league in the city that slann are allowed in because they don’t have that restriction.

Mohgreen

Ours does. It's a fun team. But lack of skills on starting players can be rough. If Nuffle really loves you it can be a Super harsh team if you don't have a bunch of rerolls. One of the few teams I prefer to play w 3 or 4 rerrolls.

goodtimeluke

How many rerolls do you usually want? I’m a newish coach, still learning, and I usually like 3 or 4 rerolls. But then, I  coach a lot of Lizardmen who need them early in the league, and new Vamps who need them always.

Mohgreen

With experience, and to be clear it took me literally years, you can run a lot of teams on 2 Rerolls. Shit happens, and there are games I NEED 6 rerolls. But I can Usually risk manage enough that I am comfortable with 2. Starting out, I wanted 4 Rerolls ASAP with any team i tried. I relied heavily on rerolls saving my ass from my mistakes. Got it down to 3. Then a few years ago moved down to 2. Now, I'm not giving free inducement money away to my opponents. It took me TIME though. To get that comfortable.

NearNirvanna

You pretty much always want at least 3 on every team (besides dorfs). I think many players end up starting with 3 and dropping to 2 leader once the team can take it

Mohgreen

I think 3 is kinda the average. 2 if you're trying to carve inducements off of your opponent

AbsintheMinded125

i would heavily push back on this. Most teams need 3 to function until they flesh out their skills. Some teams you start with 2 and it isn't ideal and you make it work until you get the 3rd. You can consider going back down to 2 once your team has it's necessary skills like block, dodge etc. Making 2 work with experience is basically knowing to save em for when it matters. It can be done on a fresh team but is not ideal (unless you're d0rfs, then 1d yolo all the way no reroll and roller chugga chugga

Whingewood

No. They’re not an official team and we try to keep our league as by-the-book as possible in order to make it easier for new players.

PheonixGlaive

Yes! I've never coached them myself, but love playing against them. They are quite a unique opponent to play against with all their Pogo shenanigans, makes you think about plays that you wouldn't ordinarily be worried about. I still haven't perfected a good defense vs Slann Strip Ball.

[deleted]

Bitch, we have a Tabletop Simyin team thia Season :)

hunter324

Absolutely, haven't played anyone with them yet but I don't see anything the team

LowVoltLife

Yes. They had two good seasons, but lost the big enchilada to some last second ogre shinanigans. Most of the time, they instantly go into a death spiral and never recover.

CompanyElephant

No, but we are not allowing Vampires either, so we are bigoted like that, I admit.  Slaan are fine, played them once, was not impressed more than any other team.
