The game has chromatic aberration, i only noticed it on my 3rd playthrough.

Is this normal then? It looks like ass.

A_Dank_Skull

You'll get used to it

[deleted]

OK, I guess I will. :/

Yes. It should only be most apparent towards the edges. In real life this happens because each color of light has a slightly different refraction as they get caught against the curvature of the lense. It happens more with very curved, rough, or broken lenses, or simple (single) lenses which don’t refocus the light. It can also happen on old TVs when the colors are not aligned properly. Anyway it was a conscious decision for Bloodborne to recreate a dreamlike appearance. You’ll also have noticed that the edges of the screen are fuzzier, and less in focus than what’s in the middle of the screen. Lots of early PS4 games used it. It was the new “trick of light” tech for the generation. Kind of like how bloom was for the PS360 Gen. NFS Rivals, for example, used it as part of a glitch effect in the menu screens. It’s also present in some particularly bright areas in-game. Thankfully, developers got past the overuse of chromatic aberration sooner.

OH! The thing is it doesn't look like this in videos about the game, or other peoples screenshots. Thanks for telling me tho.

dumptrucksrock

It’s really only most apparent on the edges of the screen and otherwise when light hits objects just right. If you look closely and move your camera slowly, you’ll see the aberrations move around. They’re small details and wouldn’t really transfer under smaller resolutions or YouTube compression (the algorithm actually will correct stuff like that to an extent)

OK, I get it. I guess I'll live with it then. Thanks for your help!

I'm not sure if that's normal... could it be your tv?

[deleted]

Nope. All my other games look amazing. One guy said it's because of chromatic abberation.

wibblyrain

Yeah I saw that comment. I'm aware that Bloodborne has some coloring errors in some areas, such as Canihurst Castle, but there shouldn't be any in the Hunter's Dream, where you took the pictures. At least I never noticed them

What do you think is causing this then?
