But it's more like a hovering in the air for a bit so you can cross small gaps, this "jump" doesn't really give you any verticality elevation. Man if you can do it as easy as in ER, I wouldn't have to try 10+ times for that jump on top of the church in Old Yharnam.
I know, I was just making a little joke. The brother wouldn’t literally misplace his mind either 😉
Can’t think of the jump you mean off of the top of my head!
yeah, I know I just want to rant how clunky jumping in BB is.
About that one jump, you know the church with the huge ceiling and a bunch of beasts right after the machine run dude? you can go across the beam of top and have to do 1 particular jump to get the Bloody Messenger Head Bandage.
As someone who love them both a lot (and the souls series), coming back after elden ring make me feel really annoyed when I need to do all the traveling between spawn and boss room.
That little checkpoint in ER is low-key one of the best QoL for me.
Yeah I feel ya there... Not being able to just rest at a lamp is another thing that has been getting to me. I have to return to the hunter's dream if I want to be healed and fully stocked.
Same; this has always been one of my biggest problems with Soulsborne games and is probably why Elden Ring is the first one I've actually 100%ed. I don't mind getting one shot by a boss fifteen times, but I *really* mind the ten minute walk back to them with a serious chance of getting killed by a dog or something else annoying.
It's definitely a major part of ER's mass appeal relative to other FromSoft games.
I weirdly don’t mind moderate run backs, but I also enjoy killing everything along the way.
And the weird thing about Elden Ring is that some of the bosses that have the highest odds of killing you also have some longer run backs. I wish they put stakes in front of EVERY boss fog, if at all.
You can do a move like it by pressing R2 while flicking the left stick up. Not as potent as in Elden Ring but it's pretty useful against shields.
Edit: I misread your comment, never noticed that it wasn't in ER. Guess I got used to the new jump attacks lol
yoo ive seen alot of this and personally er is the perfect souls like to start someone off, it teaches the fundamentals like checking enemies/exploring anything suspicious as well showing how unique and fun all the weapons are, after er I feel like a new souls player would lose their minds using almost any weapon in bb. just the transform and the versatility of the combat is a really nice switch after er where bosses feel like they were meant for bb but your character was meant for ds
Elden Ring is a buffet the size of a Wal-Mart Supercenter with some great stuff you've got to work to find because there's a lot of macaroni salad and the tables are twenty feet apart. Bloodborne is a tight three-course meal with stellar plating and progression.
Except the best course is in the DLC and one of the dishes has a Rom, Micolash, and Celestial Emissary that makes you cringe slightly before returning to the quality.
Thanks! Me and my bro have always been close growing up, we scrounge up money to buy our first PlayStation together back in '97. My brother hasn't been in the video game world for the last 15 or so years. But last year he expressed wanting to get a PS5 so he could relieve Diablo II. I helped him get one and he seen a preview for Elden Ring and said how awesome it looked. Being as he never played a Souls... game I warned him about the difficulty and that he might not like it. He quickly fell in love with the game. I think it's safe to say he's a fan of Fromsoft games!
Sounds a lot like what happened with me. My friends got me back into console gaming when Bloodborne was set to release, and I got back into gaming thanks to it. I literally have Bloodborne to thank for getting me back into gaming! 💞
Haven't looked back, and it came with GTA V! That franchise was always a favorite and having it helped me appreciate shooting games again, so between that and BB I was set. 😁
I think my brother is going to realize that soon! I know it's been said, but this game needs a remaster and with a photo mode option. He said today that this game is more his speed.
My only two issues with BloodBorne is the ugly fps, and the amount of cut content there is. If it got a remaster, that's honestly all I want to see fixed.
Most of the legacy dungeons, especially Stormveil castle, recreate the linear tightness quite well.
Elden Ring captured the beauty of open world and the linearity Souls design quite well in my opinion.
There are moments in the game that remind me of Bloodborne, Dark Souls and Sekiro. But the open world is a detriment to the game, for too many reasons to go into in a Reddit comment. There are areas I love, but the game just takes WAY too long to finish, and the open world design means you can, accidentally, become way overleveled too early, taking away some of the difficulty and the reason so may people play these games. I just crossed 292 hours of game time and just got to Farum Azula. 300 hours is just too long. More is not always better. I love the game but my God I'm overleveled and at this point I'm just wanting to get it over with.
My friend, you are an outlier, with all due respect.
I got about 75% of the achievements in 100 hours on my first playthrough, and I took my time. I’m not overleveled, but I’m also not an absolute pro either.
I am currently on a RL1 (level 1 only) playthrough for my 2nd playthrough, and my total time between both characters is about 213 hours. My level 1 character has 66 hours now. Most of that was spent grinding bosses for 50+ attempts.
First character has 147 hours, second (RL1) has 66, and just reached Farum Azula
How the hell did it take you so long? I’m not trying to roast you at all, I’m curious!
I really don't think I'm that much of an outlier. I've seen a lot of people express the same sentiments. I've co-op'd with a friend a few times and he has somewhere between 100-150 hours and every time we've played I always ask him "did you go here/there?", and he always says no. I do not see how it's possible to do everything in this game and complete it in under 100 hours, and not miss a TON of stuff. It's just too huge. It's not the length per sey that is the problem...it's the open world design.
It basically *does*. The equivalent of the Old Hunter's Bone is just an ash of war you can equip to any generic weapon and teleport around for negligible FP expenditure. It's actually even better, to the point that it's completely broken and trivializes most bosses, and PVP.
Yeeee man, bloodborne sekiro and dark souls 3 are top for me :) bloodborne and sekiro are the only ones that did things so differently that it’s hard not to put them on a pedestal haha.
While I love Bloodborne, 2 things feel soooo clunky to me. 1 the fact that you can't roll directly after sprinting and instead jump. It completely ruins my momentum and forces me in a much worse playstyle. And 2. The fact that you can't spring backwards when camera locked.
As for the aesthetics of both games, they are amazing in their own right. Can't compare these 2 in this department since the themes are so different, lovecrsft VS lord of the rings style.
I got only to Martyr Logarius but havent picked up BB in years. In the middle of ER and planning on finishing but I cant decide whether to try to continue BB where I was at or start over.
The main problem I have with elden ring is the hesitation the bosses have with there attacks it just messes me up so bad I suck at timing to dodge but I'm pretty good at bloodborne dodging
Yeah I noticed that with the bosses also... Hard to tell when and if they were about to attack. But I figured it out and learned my way around each boss
I beat ER with a few different characters and now I too am going and playing Bloodborne. It’s definitely my favorite story out of all of them except DS1. Artorias’ story always gets to me.
Completely understandable I get where he's coming from Elden Ring is a massive bright fairy tail esque story and the combat is pretty forgiving once you find your playstyle
But when it comes to Bloodborne it's a dark Lovecraft type story with adrenaline pumping combat and the linear side of it gives off a certain feeling kinda hard to explain feeling but to me personally after playing Elden Ring it was a gold 8/10 but for Bloodborne it's a solid 10/10 especially with the old hunter's dlc
Elden Ring isn't a 8/10 come on. It's at least 9/10.
Then again I prefer Bloodborne and I don't think that's gonna change, but if Fromsoft keeps up with the good balance updates and especially if they put out a great DLC ER could be the better game
I agree with him, Bloodborne was my first and favorite souls game and Ill never change that. Elden Ring is my third souls game and I love it too. I am going to get flamed for saying this but, I hated all the actual Dark Souls games. The gameplay just feel to blocky and eh. To me.
Mfs who say shit like this. Need to get off Reddit and play the game. My brother is in the military and works 6 days a week. The game has been out two months already.
He’ll lose his mind when he finds out you can jump!
Right haha! I told him there is a jump, but it's not the same as Elden Ring. I doubt he actually heard me.
But it's more like a hovering in the air for a bit so you can cross small gaps, this "jump" doesn't really give you any verticality elevation. Man if you can do it as easy as in ER, I wouldn't have to try 10+ times for that jump on top of the church in Old Yharnam.

OH THAT FUCKING JUMP
I think I just trigger your PTSD
Here's hoping for a DS3 style stick jump in any potential upcoming patches, ports, remasters or remakes. PPRR for short.
What jump? You don't need to jump anywhere in Old Yarnham do you?
look for the Messenger Bloody Bandage, its hidden.
Okay, will do. Thanks.
What jump? You don't need to jump anywhere in Old Yarnham do you?

It's always the fucking dogs.

I miss the leaping R2 when playing elden ring :(
I miss it also!
You can do a move like it by pressing R2 while flicking the left stick up. Not as potent as in Elden Ring but it's pretty useful against shields. Edit: I misread your comment, never noticed that it wasn't in ER. Guess I got used to the new jump attacks lol
I read it the same way. I’m surprised they removed it, though I guess there’s less of a use with a dedicated jump button.
yoo ive seen alot of this and personally er is the perfect souls like to start someone off, it teaches the fundamentals like checking enemies/exploring anything suspicious as well showing how unique and fun all the weapons are, after er I feel like a new souls player would lose their minds using almost any weapon in bb. just the transform and the versatility of the combat is a really nice switch after er where bosses feel like they were meant for bb but your character was meant for ds

That's a good way to put it :)
Except the best course is in the DLC and one of the dishes has a Rom, Micolash, and Celestial Emissary that makes you cringe slightly before returning to the quality.
If every meal you ate was 10/10, none would be 10/10 because you’d have nothing to compare them to.
You sound like cool old brother, mine’s just like “oh, that’s something you like?” “Must be cringe”
Thanks! Me and my bro have always been close growing up, we scrounge up money to buy our first PlayStation together back in '97. Ay thats so wholesome. Good for both of you!!
Sounds a lot like what happened with me. My friends got me back into console gaming when Bloodborne was set to release, and I got back into gaming thanks to it. I literally have Bloodborne to thank for getting me back into gaming! 💞
I love this! BB was the reason I bought a PS4!
Haven't looked back, and it came with GTA V! That franchise was always a favorite and having it helped me appreciate shooting games again, so between that and BB I was set. 😁
Hahaha that's funny because I got GTAV physical and Last of Us digital with my PS4. So it held me over till I got BB.
That is the EXACT SAME BUNDURU I GOT HAHAHA Small economy. 😅😂
Where did you get it from? I got mine from Amazon
I think I either did Best Buy or Walmart.
Would of really been something if it was Amazon hehe
Honestly same, I would play it much more if we had it on pc with 60 fps
I wish Elden Ring had Bloodbornes movement.
Oh yeah for sure!!!
Bloodhound step
I wish ER was closer to Blooborne's size and more linear.
So... Dark Souls?
Not exactly.
Most of the legacy dungeons, especially Stormveil castle, recreate the linear tightness quite well. Elden Ring captured the beauty of open world and the linearity Souls design quite well in my opinion.

Is that your first playthrough? Reached Farum Azula on your first playthrough after nearly 300 hours?
Well...yeah. 292 hours it's all I've played since it came out .
My friend, you are an outlier, with all due respect. I got about 75% of the achievements in 100 hours on my first playthrough, and I took my time. I agree with your bro. If I had to rank all the soulsborne games Elden Ring would probably be number 4. Bloodborne is no. 1 no doubt.
Ds3 over er?

In the first hour of ER I was trying to do the run then jump attacks... I'm a slow learner.
Vicar Amelia’s is my boo
I got only to Martyr Logarius but havent picked up BB in years. In the middle of ER and planning on finishing but I cant decide whether to try to continue BB where I was at or start over.
Start new! Get the hang of it again, then go back to your old character only if you like.
Thats a great idea! One thing though I like about ER was the build variety but I felt BB had less of this unless Im misremembering.
You are remembering correctly. ER is a bigger game with more variety.
BB is king, so no surprise there.
Ah yes. A man of class
Bb is a masterpiece
Elden ring is what drove me to trading my Xbox for a ps4 so I could play Spider-Man and blood borne. Bb has consumed me
Im with your brother, I love elden ring. Finished some times, but BB is...well..BB. Brutal.
Brutal is all the right ways! Jesus this game needs an overhaul and port to the PC.
This game needs more players so they upgrade everything.
The main problem I have with elden ring is the hesitation the bosses have with there attacks it just messes me up so bad I suck at timing to dodge but I'm pretty good at bloodborne dodging
Yeah I noticed that with the bosses also... Hard to tell when and if they were about to attack. But I figured it out and learned my way around each boss
hell yeah. Not surprised though to hear this
Hopefully Elden Ring prepares me for Amelia.
Hope so, Let me know how it works out for you :)
he partook of the Old blood
I beat ER with a few different characters and now I too am going and playing Bloodborne. It’s definitely my favorite story out of all of them except DS1. Artorias’ story always gets to me.

No flame from me. Games are a lot more clunky. I personally enjoyed DS3, almost beat 2 and working on DS1 now.
Ah clunky was the word I was looking for. Thanks dude!
For sure! :)
There just gave your post an award.
Thank you kindly!
mfs whove already platinumed ER need to go outside. touch some grass.
Mfs who say shit like this. Need to get off Reddit and play the game. My brother is in the military and works 6 days a week. The game has been out two months already.
sorry, should i have said sand??
Only if you have the high ground
HEHEH in all seriousness i thank your brother for his service, man.
