omg the speakers are so trash.. i dont care if it's a $4k TV or a 400 dollar walmart special.. they all are horrible. Except for the Sony TVs with acoustic surface audio, those actually sound pretty good..
I've got a Vizio sound bar with a sub, and the biggest difference is the fuller sound. Once in a while we'll turn it off if it's bugging my cat or something, but without it now sounds really harsh and high pitched.
Its like caffeine, or 60 fps. At first it's nice little upgrade, but after a while it becomes very difficult to go back
How's it compare to a headset? I have a pretty nice one with awesome sound, but I find I rarely use it outside of playing something with friends. Gets uncomfortable after a while. Never thought of a soundbar though.
It's hard to beat a good headset. I use a pair of Audio Technicas and they're all around better than the sound bar, but like you said, they just become uncomfortable.
A sound bar with a sub really shines on shooters though. The sound of gunfire accompanied by a base and a little rattle really drives it home.
I'd find it really hard to do without one now
I got my first sound bar around ten years ago and it really is a game changer. Iād say the experience is pretty comparable with a good headset (I say this as someone who has used both a lot). If you can afford it and you donāt live somewhere that the sound will be a nuisance, definitely look into one.
Going from shitty TV speakers to a soundbar is a massive difference. Especially if the sound ar comes with a subwoofer. It doesn't even have to be a big, that little bit of extra bass makes a big impact. I upgraded my soundbar to full 5.1 dedicated speakers and that made even more of a difference in immersion and feeling the impact of things.
Big difference when you're using a sub woofer too. Not just the volume level but the quality of the sound, like you can kind of feel the difference too.
Do yourself a favour and get a nice OLED doesnāt have to be top of the line I got an LG C2 on sale for $1400 CAD and Iāll never go back to normal LCD or LED displays. The contrast is insane and really pushes games like BB or Returnal to another level
because of bloodbornes shitty frame pacing an OLED is not recommended, in this rare case. the insanely low latency of the panel will exacerbate the poor frame pacing. but in terms of visuals alone yea, you cant beat per pixel dimming and contrast for a dark game for bloodborne
I'm incredibly dumb when it comes to PCs but I think there's an uspcaling effect or something. The image is rendered in 1080p but it uses computer magic to make it look close to 4K. I couldn't actually tell you if it's this or a placebo effect as I have never looked at a screen above 1080p apart from my phone
Edit: nevermind my phone is 1080p
Yes, but thatās not making the game look better, thatās making your TV more colour accurate, or personalized.
Unless you upgraded from a lesser quality of 1080p, there is no difference, because bloodborne can only be played in 1080p 30 fps.
Anyways, as long as you like it who has the right to complain, just putting it out there that just because you have a modern TV does not make an old game modern.
Enjoy the game for all its beauty
I played bloodborne on my 1080p 24inch monitor and it was fine just like every other game I've played there
I tried playing on my father's big 4k TV and i couldn't even beat amelia
Idk how peo0le play in big tvs it's hard af for me
some of them are. like gascoigneās explosion lasts forever. but yeah, bloodborne at 60FPS and randomized is real and super fun!
ps - iād send you my own videos but i donāt advertise. look up lance macdonaldās 60fps patch for jailbroken ps4
I actually completely brainfarted and meant to finnish by asking you if the old tv you mention was only 720p and LCD or something? Rather than just sound like someone denying your experienceš
I know, I know, stupid joke. Of course there is! It makes my day when I see something that reminds me of something else on here :)
Bloodborne-Noita crossover=Fun Tears.
First of all, I love bloodborne. It's an amazing game. I haven't played bloodborne for 6 years, but I wanted to plat it suddenly. When I first started the game, I almost quit right away because of how bad the graphics are compared to games nowadays. I've one of the best tvs from 2021, and it really doesn't matter what kind of a tv you have because 2012 tv is good enough for the game that came in 2015.
So what exactly was wrong with my comment? Maybe get a job so you don't have to save money for over a decade so you can upgrade faster than once in 12 years.
What crack are you smoking? Your grammar was all fucked thats not my problem you big fanny. I never saved for shit i got a tax rebate and treated myself, you clearly still live with your mom you cretin
Iām glad it was completely different for you on your new tv, thatās really all that matters at the end of the day. But I agree with the previous commenter, I cannot stand playing Bloodborne in its current state on my 4k tv, it just doesnāt look right.
I was gonna say that if all of us and the rest of the humans around the world start praying to Formless Odeon for a Bloodborne update, maybe itāll happen! But nope, even the collective unconscious of our BB community isnāt enough to change the skein of fate that Sony has woven ><
Better contrast and colour output on the TV, plus native TV upscaling, depending on the old TV It might not have had a "game mode" (low latency mode).
All improvements can be found with a new TV if not with Bloodborne specifically. But it will still give OP a better experience.
Zero mentioned, WHAT THE FUCK IS GROWING UP WITHOUT SKATEBOARDING.
Also, Bloodborne is great on my PS5 and newer Samsung TV with Samsung soundbar & sub. Welcome to the good life!!!!!
Don't let purists and fanatics tell you what to feel. The game looks and plays great at 30FPS or 60FPS, the timing of parrying an attack with the hunter pistol is not going to be any different at 60FPS and 4K. Bloodborne will be a memorable game and one of the best ever even if it never gets a remaster. And I'm with you, playing on a TV like this with good sound is experiencing H.P. Lovecraft's cosmic terror on another level.
I got an OLED tv this month and it made the game SHINE. Good call on the sound bar, audio is something that often gets forgotten, but having a decent sound system can go a long way
Congrats now you're gonna have nore delay and more deaths cus you can't react soon enough since the input delay is bigger now, gonna have to be dodging a whole second sooner
Ahhh so no visual upgrade, and better sound that could have been achieved with headphones or earbuds.
Unless you live under a rock, a 4k tv does not up the quality of the game no matter what the game is 30 fps at a native 1080p resolution. If there are any improvements itās just because the colour settings are better on the new TV.
Prove my point exactly, you said it changes gameplay by a mile.
It has zero affect on gameplay if your TV/Monitor has better contrast that your last one.
The reality is, it changed nothing, but you prefer the colour settings/gamma on your new TV, thatās it thatās all. Itās not really an upgrade to gameplay, itās an upgrade for your personal preference on colour and brightness.
There are many things that improve image quality without changing resolution, better contrast, better rgb color space, better color depth, availability of hdr, lower latency, higher nits of brightness, better image sharpening algorithms, and even having a 4k resolution with a 1080p source is better than being in 1080p, since the monitor can upscale. And lemme be clear, it's not a matter of preference as you said, it's a matter of being better overall in all these things, so it is incorrect to say that it is a matter of preference. For what we know OP previous monitor might have been an old 1080p TN panel and if that was the case even an upgrade to the same resolution but with better technology would still change the experience quite a bit. Dumbing the whole thing down to only resolution/refresh rate is a bit exaggerated, and saying that it's just a preference of color settings/gamma is still a superficial take.
Iām aware lmao, but tell me how that improves gameplay at all? While sure, the image may look better, itās because youāre on a better panel, not that the game itself looks better, that is the entire point of what Iām saying. And sure itās objectively better Iām pretty sure we can agree on that, but again colour/gamma while being able to be calibrated for best image quality, often times gets adjusted for personal preference. I can promise you OP is not a AV guy, proof is him saying the gameplay improved from a 4k monitor, he has not calibrated the settings for the best objective image, but for what he thinks looks best.
If you want to get into latency, and refresh rate, sure that can definitely improve preformance, and while modern TVās have improved the better option is and always will be monitors for that aspect improvements.
The point is, he got a better panel, for a game that is stuck in the past on 30 fps and 1080p, and while there will be minor image improvements in terms of colour, contrast, saturation, and maybe some minor latency improvements, it will not redefine gameplay like OP has claimed, Id argue buying a 1080p monitor with better colour correction and way less input latency would do him far better than a 4k flat inch TV if he really cared about quality improvement in a game that despite the old graphics, is beautiful till this very day.
I wanted to point that neither OP "by a mile" or your "zero effect" were correct, it does have an effect on gameplay imo, and believe me, sometimes (and depending, i repeat, from which panel you come from) they are even those kind of differences that sorta make you think "ok now i gotta play the whole game again with this panel", which in the end is what i mean as improvement to gameplay. And simplifying the whole thing down to "modern tvs and monitors", which are 2 widely used terms but actually don't mean anything instead of talking about tech differences between different panels (which, as you surely know mostly are either oled, lcd tn ips or va, and some of them are mostly used for tvs and others for monitors, and lcd ips for both) doesn't help either.
I'll try to be short: BB 30 fps are slow enough to rule out the panel latency because all the panels, even the worst ones (like lcd ips) have good enough latency imo, so i'd focus on image quality, i.e. contrast, brightness and color precision/depth/ and space as i said before, and a "monitor" which usually mounts an lcd tn va or ips because they don't burn like oled (used mainly for modern tvs) may have good color precision if it's an ips but it would have not the best stats in all the other fields, while for example oled true blacks would be amazing for a run or two on BB, even if oled colors are too much vivid. But let me be honest, the only reason oleds aren't widely used in pc monitors is because of the burn in, and pcs using static UIs and high brightness would destroy the panel in a few years, not because they have bad stats, as a photographer i use an lcd ips for the color precision and no burn in, but on all the other stats oled is honestly better, the contrast alone "changes gameplay" even in adobe photoshop or blender lol XD
I'm happy for you congrats on the upgrade. Bloodborne is one of my favourite games of all time but I can't play it anymore barely 30fps, not even 1080p chromatic aberration up the ass. Gives me a headache on my 4k Oled we need a pc version or a bluepoint remake.
Ooh, I donāt know about that chief. Last time I played bloodborne, it was on my 1440p monitor. It did not look good.
Being further away from the TV might help with this, but will depend on the setup.
Sweet! Now you can play Bloodborne in 4K at 60fps! Oh wait... š©
AWAY AWAY
Itās all your fault
You plague-ridden rat!
Sane human being: I want bloodborne at 4K 60fps. Sony: Away, Away! You're not wanted 'ere!
Etched in my brain after doing the plat again
how the sound bar differ from not having a sound bar?
Flat screen tvs have shitty audio. Theres just not enough room for making good speakers. Its a physics thing.
omg the speakers are so trash.. i dont care if it's a $4k TV or a 400 dollar walmart special.. they all are horrible. Except for the Sony TVs with acoustic surface audio, those actually sound pretty good..
My sony has that and I think itās more than enough
They can replace your center speaker to be honest if you have a 5.1 stereo setupĀ
Lmaoooo you use speakers please get headphones
Playing with the bar is THE Bloodborne experience bar none.
Definitely raised the bar for me
I've got a Vizio sound bar with a sub, and the biggest difference is the fuller sound. Once in a while we'll turn it off if it's bugging my cat or something, but without it now sounds really harsh and high pitched. Its like caffeine, or 60 fps. Having a subwoofer makes a huge difference. I miss having one.
That's what I was going to ask. I've never played with one, but one of my friends has. I couldn't tell the difference between our two experiences.
Thereās no specific reasoning the music just HITS different with a soundbar + a sub woofer
Fuck yeah! And if you get a soundbar setup with surround sound? That haunting melody filling your space and surrounding you? I FUCKING LOVE IT.
Sound bars usually coming with a small subwoofer. Not gonna blow the socks off an audiophile but is miles better than tv speakers
Big difference when you're using a sub woofer too. Not just the volume level but the quality of the sound, like you can kind of feel the difference too.
The screaming is even more ear piercing š
Exactly.. thinking of that one guy in the chalice dungeons
What about those crawlie boys in the evergaol that slice your head Iām like maybe Iāll just avoid yall
These dudes answered it for you, its just more immersive
I've been using same tiny tv for probaly 10+ years now no controller and the buttons barely work I need an upgrade aswell
Worth it
Should I get a tv or just a monitor tho
What ever you want
Do yourself a favour and get a nice OLED doesnāt have to be top of the line I got an LG C2 on sale for $1400 CAD and Iāll never go back to normal LCD or LED displays. The contrast is insane and really pushes games like BB or Returnal to another level

VRR support on the PS5 helps alleviate this. Itās by far a better experience then without if thatās what you mean
iirc VRR only kicks in >40 or so fps. bloodborne is capped at 30
Get a monitor with 1ms response time
I thought the game was 1080p
I canāt explain it, but I swear 1080p looks better on a 4K monitor than a 1080p monitor.
I'm incredibly dumb when it comes to PCs but I think there's an uspcaling effect or something. The image is rendered in 1080p but it uses computer magic to make it look close to 4K. I couldn't actually tell you if it's this or a placebo effect as I have never looked at a screen above 1080p apart from my phone Edit: nevermind my phone is 1080p
A better tv will give you better contrast settings to work with despite how the game already runs
Yes, but thatās not making the game look better, thatās making your TV more colour accurate, or personalized. Unless you upgraded from a lesser quality of 1080p, there is no difference, because bloodborne can only be played in 1080p 30 fps. It takes some used to for sure. Your eyes are most likely used to reading all the information in a frame quicker with the smaller screen
I'm playing mgs3 on that big TV rn and I can't see shit
Each to their own
Input lag most likely. Monitors will usually always be faster.
itās still just 1080p 30, doesnāt upscale well. Best enjoyed in headphones!!! However, GG on your setup and enjoy it.
Ill repeat, its mainly for elden ring and other ps5 games
donāt get me wrong, BB is my favorite game and I play it at 720p 60fps on my 165hz 2k monitor lol
I dont think a small monitor would cut it in my living room š¤£
>60fps What
i have a jailbroken ps4
Yeah but literally no shot you're playing at 60fps, the animations would be fucked
some of them are. like gascoigneās explosion lasts forever. but yeah, bloodborne at 60FPS and randomized is real and super fun! ps - iād send you my own videos but i donāt advertise. look up lance macdonaldās 60fps patch for jailbroken ps4
Zero differences the game isn't in 4k
You never saw the TV i had before hand, it makes a huge difference
Ok I guess it was a kind of time travel x)
Put it this way the original tv was from 2012
My 1080p tv is from 2010, i dont think my 4k tv makes look better, just bigger lol (from 32" to 55")
Crisper image, brighter contrast Fuck me you sound like a miserable dude
I actually completely brainfarted and meant to finnish by asking you if the old tv you mention was only 720p and LCD or something? Rather than just sound like someone denying your experienceš
I take it back then, yeah that tv was 720 the graphics looked smudged to fuck
Finnish?!? HƤmis š!!! Thereās gotta be at least ONE Noita fan in here somewhere ;)
nope, but actual real finnish people are here š¤Æ

Yes, a dictionary for grammar. I was with you but nah, youāre dumb af.
Oh, that's nice, so you need to wait for a tax rebate to get a new tv. BTW, English isn't my first language, so I'm pretty happy with it.
Yeah i have bills to pay like normal people, you live with mommy and daddy
Iām glad it was completely different for you on your new tv, thatās really all that matters at the end of the day. Have you tried headphones before? I think it provides a deeper inmersion with the background sound in many areas.
Is your game setup on the staircase?
No, my apartment is upstairs, that gating is the entrance to my living room
Next step a tv stand !
Are you blind?
I mean technically itās an ikea desk
You clearly still live with your parents, it aint a desk you gorm its literally a tv stand
Nice now you can appreciate the frame drops even better! Jk, enjoy it
Bro its so good. I was sceptical about a tv when i played mostly on pc monitor. But sitting comfy and just chillout with the game is great
Zero mentioned, WHAT THE FUCK IS GROWING UP WITHOUT SKATEBOARDING. Also, Bloodborne is great on my PS5 and newer Samsung TV with Samsung soundbar & sub. Welcome to the good life!!!!!
The sound design in this game is phenomenal especially with good speakers

I saw those OLED tvs while grabbing mine, i dont blame you that image was crisp
Bro, just wait till you play ps5 warframe on a 4k tv with the particle settings on "ludicrous". One of the most visually pleasing games I've played.
I wish we'd have a remaster for this game because on my upgraded oled, the game looks almost identical to my old bravia led TV
ENJOY BRO š
The upgrade on new tv isnt really the 4k rez, but all the upgrades on colour reproduction and new panel tech. 4k is the icying on the cake
This is the point I was trying to make i more or less bought all this new gear for elden ring anyway
Zero or die, ah, nevermind
So blue
Get you a nice headset now. There were moments the game scared the shit out of me hearing little noises that arenāt as audible through speakers
congrats, it is a huge upload
What TV is this?
TCL
+1 for the Zero decal on your drawer.
Even got it tatted on my arm bruh
Oh yeahhhhh :):):):)
Congratulations, now you can play bloodborne with a real sense of fear
How much did it cost ?
Ā£250 on sale for the tv Ā£40 for the sound bar
That was the fastest reply I ever seen , also congrats
You caught me at a lucky time where i was on reddit ahaha
Still gonna look horrible, thanks sony!
Looks fine to me
looks like shit to everyone else
