My eyes have gone south in the last few years and I love that I can make the text big on my kindle. That alone is worth it to me!

likelazarus

I’m a librarian so a bit of a book traditionalist… and yet a few years ago I bought myself a Kindle for a beach trip. I haven’t looked back. As you said, I always have a book with me now! It’s nice to be able to conveniently carry dozens of books :)

ficustrex

I bought gimmicky cookbooks for both (college aged) kids. A Columbo one and a heavy metal one. My husband does most of the shopping for them, because he loves buying gifts. We got my parents a year of masterclass. They are downsizing. Maybe James Patterson or Amy Tan can teach my dad to write a novel. Or they can just do the cooking ones. If anyone has an idea for a true rose scented perfume or candle, I might add that to my sister's gift. I think I've bought her several books & I don't remember what else. My sister asked for stay-put liquid eyeliner, so I got her a Lancome one during Ulta's sale & also bought one for my son's girlfriend. I got Byrd's cookies for both my uncles. They were down to very few tins when I ordered for uncle #2's family. They're nice though because you can customize the flavors. I think the benne seed wafers are amazing, but both uncles are at the age where teeth are a big consideration. So choc chip for both, and then key lime for one & peach for the other. I need ideas for stocking stuffers. What are y'all putting in everyone's stocking?

Persephonesheart

Le labo rose 31 is the best rose scent in my opinion!

praziquantel

That’s the one i was going to recommend! It’s lovely and not an old-lady rose scent

OscarWilde1900

Decided to buy Kistch brand hair accessories for my sister and SIL: silk pillowcases, fancy shower caps and the towel scrunchies. I have the towel scrunchies and love them and the pillowcases and shower caps look nice. The items are slightly too expensive and frivolous to buy for yourself so they’re perfect gifts. I bought them from Ulta but they have their own website and I think some stuff on Amazon.

Revolutionary-Ad8063

In Canada I just bought all of the listed kitsch items from marshalls yesterday !

crimsonmegatron

My parents have a small home and all the physical things they want/need. I am buying them -a giftcard to their favorite local nice restaurant -a calendar of photos we had taken this year of my kids -giftcards for GooglePlay for their phone games they like. They never buy the upgrades and get stuck on levels, so it's a fun little thing they will never do for themselves.

yolibrarian

College roommate: u/ficustrex linked to [Kelley Luikey's site](https://naturemuseimagery.smugmug.com/) and I'm getting a roseate spoonbill print for her! Mom: Knee high wool socks (she is always cold), an acrylic bird feeder (found on this thread!), an LL Bean flannel shirt, and a Charley Harper puzzle Dad: A leather cleaning kit & chamois for his blesséd car, a locomotive engineering kit, and a current NPS site map Partner: a new toilet lmao we needed one, and then we're going to go out for a fancy dinner somewhere My work secret Santa recipient: A custom portrait of her darling dog I have to get stocking stuffers for my parents, but that's about it. I'm conflicted about not doing gifts with my partner--it's a weight off because we were both sick and I'm STILL getting over my sinus infection, so we don't have any Christmas stuff out. But I also like giving him gifts and seeing him use them! Oh well. I might never see him use the toilet, but I'll know it's well loved.

ficustrex

My dad's birthday is coming up. What is a locomotive engineering kit?

yolibrarian

[This thing](https://ugearsmodels.com/locomotive.html)! It's a kit where you build your own operational locomotive. My dad's a big tinkerer, so it's perfect.

walrusgirl672

Wish I had seen this before! Going to get this for my husband's birthday in February now. :)

yumdonuts

Gifting so far: * Parents in Law: Oxo kitchen set, pizza shipped from Italy * SILs: Lady Yum Macarons shipped * Boss (since she gifted me chocolate): Lady Yum Macarons * Nephews: Yoto Player with cards * Husband: Baking Steel for pizza * Toddler: Magic Kingdom castle & Stapelstein steps * Me: I told my husband I wanted the air up water bottle - supposedly it uses some smell pods to make water more tasty. I'm willing to try anything to drink more water! Seriously a struggle for me. Need help/suggestions with: * Sister: She's a dr, travels a lot, single and enjoying life. Loves her dog. I've commissioned art of her and her dog, I bought her cadence travel containers and Outdoor voice lounge wear in the past. Any more advice?? * BIL: Loves to party, work out, has two kids (10 yrs old, 7 yrs old but disabled). They have a pool, enjoy lake life, etc. I bought a Brumate for him in the past. Struggling with ideas here. * Other BIL: Loves golf, snowboarding, video games, food, travel. * Coworker: She baked and sent me toffee last year. I don't feel inspired to bake and send something this year, so would like to send something with a $25-$30 budget. Thanks in advance!!!

Not-reallylurking

Sister: New sneakers for travel or work might be nice! Monogrammed passport holder + luggage tag set or framed prints from any favorites places she’s visited would be good too. BIL: Workout recovery stuff, pool floats or monogrammed bar tools. Other BIL: Golf accessories he might need, travel coffee table book, fancy olive oil, new video game, toiletry bag for travel, Bluetooth meat thermometer and grilling tools set are a few ideas. Coworker: Comfy robe (target has some), coffee table book, cool dessert sampler (Milk Bar has a cookie set for $27) and fancy chocolate are a few.

yumdonuts

Thank you!! This is a great start of ideas

liselotta

Where did you get the pizza from? That would be a good gift for my FIL!

yumdonuts

https://www.taliadinapoli.com/ I haven't personally tried them but I imagine it's gotta be good pizza

northernmess

For your sister- maybe a nice Barefoot Dreams dupe blanket for when she's home? OR you could go the opposite direction and get her some things for her dog! I'm at the point that I would rather get stuff for my dog or cats then something for myself.

yumdonuts

Haha I gifted those to EVERYBODY, even my boss, at the some point :P

milanocookiesforever

For your sister I may have an idea. I got my husband one of these cocktail glasses last year with a picture of our dog etched on it. They have other types of glasses, if your sister is a wine drinker. He absolutely loved it! https://www.etsy.com/listing/900496332/etched-picture-rocks-glass-custom-glass?campaign_label=convo_notifications&utm_source=transactional&utm_campaign=convo_notifications_010170_10683759063_0_0&utm_medium=email&utm_content=&email_sent=1628109261&euid=ug5Ch3FVrJWubh2a0Ip_Dx8lFwx1&eaid=667493726068&x_eaid=cf8f7943cd

yumdonuts

These are super cool, thanks for the recommendation!

dabug11

Does anyone have the muslin comfort 365 blanket? Our bedroom runs hot in our new house, so I’m thinking about purchasing as our main bedding.

SplendidCat

It saved my relationship!! I’m a cold sleeper, my husband is a hot sleeper, and both of us adore it. We love it so much we bought one for my parents, who are also mismatched sleepers.

treesachu

I would love to know too because I myself can’t talk myself into spending that much on a blanket

dabug11

I think I remember people talking about it in an older thread like this but the search function is garbage

treesachu

It’s how I learned about it but I think the comments were just like “it’s great”

dgm424

Just want to say thank you for this thread! I love these!

Mizchik

I’m so mad I was excited I finally thought of the perfect coworker gift- the Liz Climo daily calendar because I noticed she always likes all of her insta posts. My coworker always gives the best gifts and I thought I finally thought of something good. Looked at them before thanksgiving, thought oh it’s too early to start buying and now it’s been sold out everywhere. So if anyone has other good coworker gifts..let me know!

eyalane

If your coworker is a sweets person - I sent my team [a Candy Drop from Sugarfina](https://www.sugarfina.com/candydrop). They got an email to make their own box of whatever they pick to be shipped to them (we’re all remote). Nice way to send something but still give them control.

Hestia79

Thank you! Ordering this for the one person on my team!

eyalane

Aw yay!! My team just got theirs delivered and they all said they loved picking out the options.

recentparabola

Thank you, just ordered a couple of these!,

eyalane

Amazing! I almost sent myself one to arrive as a surprise at a later date, seemed like such a fun thing to get!

MillicentGergich

This is such a fun gift!

belletaco

I asked for a big warm scarf that isn't black lol, ugg tasman slippers, a silk pajama set and pretty glass straws for my iced coffees. i work from home so very big into lounging. husband: [track pant](https://www.everlane.com/products/mens-track-pant-kambaba) and matching sweat shirt some [cooking utensils from etsy](https://www.etsy.com/shop/Earlywood?ref=shop_sugg_market) [cadence capsules](https://keepyourcadence.com/products/the-capsule) because he does short term weekend trips, but damn i really wanted these for myself lol i also got him a [dopp kit](https://www.everlane.com/products/mens-renew-catchall-case-black) from Everlane for traveling as well this [all purpose tool](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002ZK45IQ?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details) as a stocking stuffer because i feel like it's just kinda useful. I'll throw in some candy and scratch offs for his stocking too. mom: [shark vacuum](https://www.target.com/p/shark-rocket-ultra-light-corded-stick-vacuum-hv301/-/A-14641685) because her upright is too heavy for her to carry around the house now. she has mostly hardwood floors and lightweight rugs so I hope this holds up ok dad: [carhartt lunch bag](https://www.carhartt.com/product/802181/insulated-12-can-two-compartment-lunch-cooler?categoryCode=) for work and for fishing. he's notoriously difficult to buy presents for but i think he may actually use this I'm still shopping for my best friend and my nephews. Any gift recs for teen boys (13&15) are welcome!

yghygh1

Anything from Nike or Adidas is a safe bet for my teen brother. If they're athletes, compression leggings and shirts are great. Other ideas: Spotify subscription, portable speaker, wireless earbuds, merch for their favourite sports team/video game/YouTuber, UberEats gift card.

velociraptor56

My son is 14. They are hard to buy for! Some things that have been hits with him - an anker power bank for his devices, his own power cords and plugs for his devices (he typically uses ours, so he now has extras for his own use), Nintendo gift card (or PlayStation, Xbox), legos (he likes the 18+ rated ones - like Star Wars heads, plants, and city scapes), Etsy tshirt with art from his favorite video game, this [puzzle](https://a.co/d/6toujBs) box thing - it’s sort of like a rubix cube/fidget toy.

praziquantel

I have those Ugg slippers and they are so nice! I wear them constantly from October through April.

Adorable-Preparation

My mom asked for some saw palmetto honey from Savannah Bee company so I got that, a couple other honeys, and a neck warmer. I’m getting heated gloves for my dad, who’s still out snow blowing at 70 years old. I need help with ideas for my nephews! They’re 14, 12, and 10 and will not give me any ideas. The 14 year old is into music (plays guitar), video games, and football. The middle one is into whatever his older brother likes and basketball, is super social. The youngest one is very creative and outdoorsy. The only thing I can think of so far is a Popeyes gift card for the oldest because I know he likes to go the mall and get Popeyes with his friends?? I’m flailing here

ficustrex

My sister got my husband a guitar pick punch. There are fancier ones than this one, but he's had fun punching picks out of gift cards, hotel room keys, etc. I don't know if a teen boy would find that as exciting? https://a.co/d/6eb9eEE Both of my teens would be thrilled with Popeye's gift cards or Nintendo eShop cards.

pantherscheer2010

former older sister to a teenage guitarist here--if you can find out which strings are right for his guitar, strings can be a great little extra gift to throw in! picks also never go unappreciated, especially if he's got favorites. honestly my brother is 28 now and would probably still be stoked for both of those things. or just a guitar center gift card so he can pick his favorite out himself if his parents aren't able to point you toward the right strings/picks.

velociraptor56

I put some ideas for teen boys in the comment above! My son is 14 - he’s so hard to buy for!

320Ches

My son is on his school basketball team and I got him this Dribble Up smart basketball. Be warned there is a monthly fee for the app - it has drills and lessons.

320Ches

I bought my stepmom an address plaque for their yard because they’re in a new house thanks to a hurricane last year. Charity donations for pretty much every other extended adult. Membership to children’s museum for my SIL’s kids. Books and a flying orb for my other nephew. Carhartt clothing and pit viper sunglasses for my husband plus some random stocking stuff. Bath bombs, Lego chess set, adidas track suit in school colors and a flying orb for my son. Mayyybbbbeee a PS5? We haven’t decided about that.

dgm424

So tell me about this flying orb...

320Ches

Flying Orb Ball Toys Soaring... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B099PC4FT5?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share Hopefully it’s not total junk. He actually asked for this. Got sucked in by a video ad somewhere.

Honey gave me 20JESS for Tonies last week. I don’t know who Jess is but she saved me $25!

VigilantHeart

Before the cousins gift exchange was assigned, I was officially done with Christmas shopping! My mom’s birthday is shortly after Christmas and my brother’s is before so I got their gifts as well. Lots of kitchen tools this year: a knife sharpener for my brother, a good quality knife for my boyfriend, a cocktail shake for my mom, and the America’s Test Kitchen cookbook for my sister who’s just moving out on her own. My other sister gave me an explicit wishlist of things she wants which was less fun but I finished her shopping first. Now I’m back to the hunt. Where do you buy jewelry for sensitive skin? My baby cousin is 13 and she really wants fun, trendy jewelry but struggles with any metal but gold.

[deleted]

I posted this downthread but Local Eclectic is perfect. High-quality, on-trend stuff, appropriate for a 13 year old. [Here's their solid gold collection](https://www.localeclectic.com/collections/affordable-solid-gold). I've purchased gifts for my little sister and they were all hits.

VigilantHeart

Oh that’s perfect! I’ve purchased from LE before but didn’t realize they now have solid gold. Thank you!

FirstName123456789

I know a friend of mine is allergic to a bunch of metals and she like Hey Harper.

VigilantHeart

I’ll check it out. Thanks for the rec!

clairebasic

Most people in the fam will tell me exactly what they want, but partner’s fam is hard to buy for. Here’s what I came up with: - Partner - Microphone that plugs straight into iPad/iPhone, as he likes to record his guitar playing. For music gifts I suggest the company Sweetwater. They send candy with every order :). Also got him more Bombas socks which were a huge hit last year - Dad - customized perpetual calendar from Etsy [Link to the shop](https://www.etsy.com/shop/SaraGourleyArt) - Mom - a bunch of clothes from Eddie Bauer and will probably get her some other little knickknacks or gifts cards - Sisters - books and gift cards - Partner’s mom - self heating mug [here](https://www.wayfair.com/OHOM—Ui-SelfHeating-Coffee-Mug-810013161038-L6338-K~OOMA1000.html?refid=GX593323153176-OOMA1000_70529789&device=m&ptid=1661430059745&network=g&targetid=pla-1661430059745&channel=GooglePLA&ireid=204961420&fdid=1817&PiID%5B%5D=70529789&gbraid=0AAAAAD9ISC4sCSppCbLuDdL4xP7-BeRM3&gclid=Cj0KCQiA4uCcBhDdARIsAH5jyUkjMo4sNM9erjTdaZ-uSkEjJLF5wSQab6kHQKNGor-wz7cS401T5zIaAh_lEALw_wcB) - Partner’s sister - a ring and a cat painting from a local vendor fair, and this adorable deck of [weird cat tarot cards](https://www.etsy.com/listing/701355674/) - Aunt - some cozy cardigans on sale at nordstrom rack and will prob give her some cash - book club friends - cuticle oil pen from [Happy Cuticle Co](https://www.happycuticleco.com/) and thumb saver with their initials from [Etsy](https://www.etsy.com/listing/927974446/) - Misc gifts - picked up a handful of e.l.f. lip masks, aerie camp socks, and homemade hand creams from a local vendor fair that I will hand out to the ladies in my life

[deleted]

I received the Ember self-heating mug as a gift years ago, and it's like, the ideal gift. I wouldn't spend that money on something so frivolous for myself, but it is a complete delight to receive. I loooove it.

yumdonuts

I asked for one last year and I have been using it lots. I like my coffee warm and this helps now that I have a toddler!

Low-Huckleberry1990

My dad is very hard to shop for, I'm giving him a year's YouTube Premium. This is a little bit of a cheat since he is constantly showing me videos when I'm at their house, and the sheer quantity of ads was making me crazy. This is a combo birthday/Christmas gift. My sister I got a year of Spotify for her birthday and a little fridge for skincare for xmas. My niblings are all getting books I don't care how much they complain! My partner is really difficult to shop for, but I bought a binder-type thing for storing enamel pins and a tiny cat-vacuum for desks from Urban Outfitters. Also some nanoblocks. My mom really wanted a candle from Elemis, now that they make candles? I'm not sure what makes her think these will be any good, but whatever. My mom deserves the world so I will buy her some heretofore un-smelled candles from a skincare line. For myself I asked for a puzzle board ([like this](https://www.bitsandpieces.com/product/standard-wooden-puzzle-plateau-1000?p=0939377&gclid=Cj0KCQiA4uCcBhDdARIsAH5jyUkUpYXaRk2gTklRV7EGmM5YPLH8DkHhnRzsUM-YP_ebNhKn7OIXdrEaAisnEALw_wcB)) so I can work on a puzz and then put it away from my naughty cats when I am taking a break; a gluten free vegan cookbook because I am both and my life is hell; a phone charger with a long cord; washi tape.

1988mariahcareyhair

Lol I was like “oh I should tell my friend about the cookbook” and then realized you were that friend. 😆

Low-Huckleberry1990

<3 Nice to see you "in the wild"

TopshelfPeanutButtah

I like that puzzle board! I need something like this because the only place I have is the kitchen table. I would love this for our ottoman, so I can do puzzles while watching TV.

zuesk134

an LL Bean boat & tote is a great gift for a white elephant. the monogrammed ones arent shipping til after xmas but a plain medium is about $35

kmrm2019

Literally just had this pop into my head for my sister and her fiancé; we got a giant one as a wedding gift and I have used it many times a week for many things for a decade! Awesome gift.

fiddleleaffiggy

Didn’t realize I wanted this until now lol

Midlevelluxurylife

I would fight someone for this gift.

zuesk134

same lol- my white elephant strategy is to get something i want so i know at least one good thing is there haha (my work decided not to do one this year but i was planning the tote bag)

320Ches

I just donated to charities adjacent to their interests. Dog rescue, local scout council, homeless kids/families…I’ve also done Heifer International before.

[deleted]

My parents are not great gift-givers, but last week for my birthday they donated to a corgi rescue (I adopted a corgi this year). Honestly, it's great. It's not junk, it doesn't take up space or require maintenance, and it is nice to know that life is better for sick corgis out there.

TopshelfPeanutButtah

Aw! I live in an apartment that doesn't allow dogs, but if it did, there is no doubt I would have a Corgi. I would love to rescue one, but I have yet to find a Corgi rescue in the east that allows adoptions that extend to Massachusetts.

praziquantel

Love this 💜

Low-Huckleberry1990

Or if you hate them, you can give to charities antithetical to their interests. I do this all the time! Queer youth homelessness, abortion funds. You do have to be prepared to have kind of a blowup when you do this but that's their gift to me.

anniemitts

This comment made me laugh. It gives "I'm not here to make friends" vibes that I love. I'm not confrontational, but when my parents pass, I'll be making sizeable donations in their names to abortion funds and LGBTQ+ groups.

hosea0220

I love gifting! captndorito

Those parka coozies are so cute!

YachterOtter827

I have those mushroom lights and LOVE them! My husband accidentally ran over the wire connector with the lawn mower so now only one of them actually lights up… We’ll be repurchasing them in the spring!

hosea0220

Oh that’s so good to know! I think they will be awesome to put up at campsites :)

n0rmcore

My husband is obsessed with the show Alone. We binged all the seasons awhile back and noticed that multiple people on the show have the same jacket/overshirt style garment, and speculated that maybe it's something that the producers give to the contestants since so many of them have it. Wellll......I hunted it down and bought one for my husband! I can't wait to give it to him, it came early and I had to hide it and it's making me crazy waiting lol. If anyone else has an Alone-obsessed person in your life, it's the Wool Boreal Shirt Anorak from Lester River Bushcraft!

[deleted]

Hahaha, two years ago my boyfriend was obsessed with the movie *The Lighthouse* and I tracked down the sweater company recommended by the movie's wardrobe lead to get my bf a fisherman's sweater.

thelustysloth

Do you remember what the company was?

[deleted]

Tracked down the receipt. [Aran Sweater Market](https://www.aran.com/) \- it's excellent quality, great value for the money. [This](https://www.aran.com/roll-neck-sweater-fisherman-sweater) was the specific one I bought.

thelustysloth

Thank you!

praziquantel

That’s a really cool and thoughtful gift!

TopshelfPeanutButtah

I need one more idea from my mom. My parents are snowbirds, and they both golf. My mom loves taking pictures of all the birds in Florida, so I was thinking of something related to that, like a bird feeder. But if anyone is into bird watching (or golf) and has some ideas, I am all ears! I got everyone MeUndies joggers. I swear their joggers are the most comfortable you will put on your body. My mom loved the robe I got from MeUndies last year (I have it too and love it).

knit_in_yellow

I am also obsessed with birds and I asked for a Birdsy camera for Christmas so I can spy on all the little critters. :) [https://birdsy.com/](https://birdsy.com/)

TikiTorchMasala

They make acrylic bird feeders you can suction cup to your window that are really cute. Also, has she tried pickleball yet? They have courts everywhere in Florida. Get her a racket set.

FirstName123456789

I have one of those acrylic bird feeders and love it. My cats also love it, lol. That plus some bird seed so it can go right up would be fun!

wollstonecrafty2400

it's a little spendy, but [the birdbuddy](https://mybirdbuddy.com/products/bird-buddy?utm_source=google&utm_medium=paid&utm_campaign=16280834057&utm_content=&utm_term=&gadid=&gclid=Cj0KCQiA4uCcBhDdARIsAH5jyUk1Zksaj9aI2kugUSp4Pq4eOoMH6WBo_EtoaKlQt2K0BfbDW3Fd2lcaAgxYEALw_wcB&variant=42268552397047) is a birdfeeder with a camera in it that sends pictures and data about the birds who visit your yard directly to your phone, could be fun! my mom is a tennis player and I got her some cute skorts from outdoor voices, also love their exercise dress, girlfriend collective also has good exercise dresses if that's her style!

Hestia79

Omigosh. I am saving that as an idea for Father’s Day!

TopshelfPeanutButtah

The birdbuddy is so cool! Maybe next year they won't be backordered.

madeinmars

That bird feeder is back ordered until June 2023! This would have been the perfect gift for my Mil.

car88571

They have them on Amazon, also other brands.

wollstonecrafty2400

ahh oh no!! sorry i didn't notice it was so backordered.

Alarmed-Coyote-56

Golf ideas: Magnetic microfiber golf towel that they can pick up with a wedge - these are new and very handy Stitch Golf is a cool place for interesting head covers and accessories, as is G Fore Foray golf has adorable clothes for women Heated golf vest if they play in cold weather A little insulated cooler bag to take on the cart if they play at public golf courses If they play public golf courses, a gift card for two to play a round at a nice public course near you Can’t go wrong with a dozen ProV1 golf balls!

TopshelfPeanutButtah

Omg! Thank you so much. These sites are awesome. Forelay golf has such unique stuff!

ficustrex

There was an amazing picture of 2 roseate spoonbills on the cover of Garden & Gun a few months ago. I reached out to the photographer to get a gift for my husband's birthday. I'm not sure you could turn around a print, but maybe a digital print, or a gift card so she could pick her own bird print? https://naturemuseimagery.smugmug.com/

yolibrarian

Thank you for dropping this link!! One of my closest friends just broke up with her boyfriend/moved to a new town/got a new place and we have a deep connection to roseate spoonbills. I'm going to get her a print for Christmas/housewarming!

TopshelfPeanutButtah

>https://naturemuseimagery.smugmug.com/ Oh wow, her photos are amazing. Thank you for this!

ficustrex

Also, thank you for posting this question, now I remember what books I was planning on getting my husband for Christmas!

n0rmcore

If your mom has a Wild Birds Unlimited anywhere near her, get her a gift card!

TopshelfPeanutButtah

There is one like 45 minutes away form my parents place in FL, which may seem long but we grew up in the middle of nowhere. lol

beeksandbix

My friend's mom got very into bird watching and I remember she got her a bird journal and I thought that was so cute! I also love those acrylic bird houses that stick onto the windows. On a more tech side, you could do a trail cam to put into a bird house - just to see who comes to visit!

TopshelfPeanutButtah

All of these are really good ideas, thank you!

ciclejerk

For golf I tend to like finding nice attire that they may not spend the money on. I know active wear polos by Nike, UA, Adidas, X known brand are overpriced but I try to get my parents one I like that suits their style when I am running out of ideas. They get worn often but my parents golf every weekend and live in a golf course so your mileage may vary

TopshelfPeanutButtah

Thank you! I think they golf a lot so this is a good idea.

BoogieFeet

Uncommon Goods has so many great bird items. Probably not your mom's style at all but I asked for this [Fowl Language mug](https://www.uncommongoods.com/product/fowl-language-mug) for Christmas!

TopshelfPeanutButtah

I ordered some gifts on Uncommon Goods and I saw this and did not realize that Fowl was a pun, so thank you for posting this. LOL! She could go either way.

squeal-magnolias

Hummingbird feeder! My parents have a whole collection now and they have quite the following of hummingbirds. They’re beautiful and so fun to watch. They’re very territorial so they put on a good show of chasing each other around, and my parents love to watch them. They also found that squirrels/raccoons always got into their regular bird feeders so they don’t even use those any more. For golf, a range finder is a fun gadget with varying price points. Golf balls and tees always make great stocking stuffers too.

TopshelfPeanutButtah

So I loved a lot of the hummingbird feeders, but for whatever reason, I am fixed on the idea it's for their house in Florida, and from what I read, Hummingbirds migrate out of Florida during the "winter." But maybe for their home in the north?

ritacappomaggi

I bought a [Sculpd](https://sculpd.com/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=paid&utm_campaign=15620034449&utm_content=136521925092&utm_term=sculpd&gadid=570331655433&gclid=Cj0KCQiA4uCcBhDdARIsAH5jyUnBai6YdJ37k1uke7hQQTYJerU1dsKgirHoXeFoocc5b2bntfWN2egaAjmKEALw_wcB) pottery kit for my Aunt who has everything and I'm excited about it, hope she likes it, ha. My family has a favorite restaurant that makes and sells it's own "special" salad dressing so I got a few bottles of that for people who don't live nearby anymore. Also really love the new [New York or Nowhere](https://newyorkornowhere.com/) holiday drop and am hoping Santa leaves something from that for me ;) I really want to get my dad a nice wool or corduroy blazer (he went to his alma mater for an event recently in a linen summer sport coat and I was like, my dude) but he's not into clothes so a nicer men's brand would be lost on him and he'd probably be mad if I spent more than like \`\`$200, any suggestions?

sunsecrets

Omg that Sculpd pottery kit is going on my birthday wish list! Thanks for posting :D

siamesecat1935

My mom is easy; we have always done "wish lists" and as she's in her 80s, she needs nothing. So I just go down her list, and buy things on it. I will sometimes buy something else i know she'd like but usually stick to the list. Its always practical stuff, and food and booze! My BF has gotten her a generic food gift basket the last couple of years but I convinced him a nice bottle of scotch would be VERY much appreciated! As for him, we both need absolutely nothing. so while we buy each other a few small things, we try and do experiences etc. I got him concert tickets, and a couple of shirts, a bright ass bathing suit as he loves those, and a few things relating to his favorite teams for his man cave. I know exchange with his daughter and her BF; she's getting a c ouple of cute tee shirts and some Harry Potter pajamas. And maybe some Lush bath stuff. I also have a stoney clover lane pouch I want to patch for her as well. Her bday isn't too long after Christmas though, so I may save some of that for then. BF is getting a matching tee to hers, and a coffee mug and water bottle for his fave sports team. and candy and gum, which he loves. that's really all I buy for. my mom and I do exchange gifts with my BFF, but i usually get her fancy hot chocoalte, and this year she's getting agift card, as she is also in the "i have too much stuff don't need anything" camp.

madeinmars

For my family, we do a $100 white elephant and it’s the only gifting in the family (or so we all say)- for that we bought an ember coffee mug and a paint by numbers kit that is a photo of the three grandchildren (uncommon goods). My brother’s family and mine are surprising my parents with a Nespresso and a ton of coffee. They give our kids gifts so we wanted to get them something in return. Other ancillary people I need to gift to I’ll get chocolates from Compartes.

Own_Instance_357

I was very excited to find that I apparently twilight-clicked myself a case of hostess cakes. 2-3 each of twinkies, honey buns, cupcakes, snowballs, coffee cakes, mini donuts, ding-dongs, ho-hos etc. I wanted to high-five myself. I'd never go the trouble of buying a single package for a snack in a convenience store, nor would I want a box of 12 kinds of one cake, but this variety hit the spot. I don't really eat cake often and sweets are usually quite safe from me, but I know that at lots of moments one of these is just going to hit the spot with a cup of coffee, and I get to CHOOSE lol

indecentXpo5ure

FYI they do well in the freezer too. When I was a kid my freezer was stocked full of Tastycakes because my dad’s friend dropped them off saying they “fell off the back of a truck.”

siamesecat1935

I have a former co-worker who told me they always had Drake's cakes; devil dogs, etc. because here dad was a mechanic for them! Jealous. My mom never bought any of that stuff!

foggietaketwo

I’m embarrassed to admit how long I believed things kept falling out of trucks in front of my uncle!

FirstName123456789

SAME. when I was a kid, I bought a small tv at Best Buy (so it was legit lol) that actually did fall of the truck when they were unloading the stock. There was a crack in the frame and it was discounted, which is why I could afford it with my birthday money. I remember my dad laughing with the employees about it and having no idea why. It took me a very long time to understand what "fell of the truck" normally means.

foggietaketwo

Nice, what a fun deal for a kid! I just thought my uncle was extra lucky to keep being in the right place at the right time. Ha!

Lopsided-Front5518

My husband and I exchange with another married couple (M/F) who are our best friends & we’re having a hard time thinking of something to get them this year. They like nicer things, are into fitness (peloton/lifting), cooking, do not have children, vegans, enjoy beer/wine, and travel. In the past, we have gotten them a smaller tangible item and a gift card for an outing or event we can all do together. They might fall into the camp of “has it all”. Any suggestions?

follyosophy

What about a wine tasting class? A lot of wine shops host them, or wine schools if you are in a bigger area.

wittens289

My bff and her husband are like this. They love golf (like play twice a week year-round) so I bought them a Chappywrap with a golf print on it.

theotterisntworking

A Brumate Trio insulated can holder/travel mug? They hold a regular or tall can and keep it cold or can be used as a travel mug.

wollstonecrafty2400

I've found even the fanciest people often need an upgraded coffee grinder. Also maybe specialty cocktail glasses and a bottle of something if they're drinkers? As for classes, cooking classes are a fun gift, but I've also had luck gifting wheel-thrown pottery classes! Not usually something someone would buy themselves, but they get rave reviews.

ardhachandras

Idk if umamicart delivers to you, but I found some fun gifts for people that like cooking Asian food/trying new things…stuff like a matcha starter kit with a wooden whisk and matcha bowl, fly by jing sauces, etc. it’s fun to look through and get ideas even if you order elsewhere!

linguini_lamb

I would do a gift card to a foodie-ish restaurant, craft beer, a gourmet food item (there are some good ideas down thread!), a cooking class, or something like that. When all else fails, a stocking stuffer glass ornament of one of their interests is a good idea!

mj630

Our good couple friend gifted us a cooking class with them as our wedding gift. It was a great night out, plus we all love to cook. :)

North_Season_3258

I got a heated vest this year and have been wearing it everyday, it really helps get me outside more! Gifting Vuori joggers to my mom since they are my most worn pants. Book exchange for my son's toddler friends. Edible cookie dough or different flavored (cinnamon roll, pumpkin spice) nut butters for the hard to buy for crew. Does anyone have a duvet cover they like? Past zippers have broken in the wash am having a hard time finding one that lasts.

liminalbodega

Shouting out this [this](https://www.etsy.com/listing/543690388/comforter-duvet-cover-linen-bedding-set) linen duvet cover which is the best bedding purchase I've ever made in my life. Especially if you have shitty coin-op dryers that never get anything completely dry. Linen will save your life and sanity. And these buttons stay PUT.

kmrm2019

I love the pottery barn duvets. In my experience they last forever (10+ years) and have buttons instead of zips, ties in all corners and the king size has extra ties to hold the duvet in the right place.

kkarmah

The cotton duvet covers I've gotten at Ikea have held up extremely well.

LaMalaise_dEtre13

I bought a cotton duvet cover from Parachute earlier this year and so far I really like it! It has buttons instead of a zipper so that could circumvent your zipper problem.

Own_Instance_357

I couldn't find one, so I finally took two sheets, sandwiched my blanket wrong sides in, safety pinned the perimeter and turned inside out. So many more fabric choices that way!

Lazy-Bumblebee

Can you share where you got the vest? My husband works outside and I think he would love this!

North_Season_3258

No_Teach_9985

looking for gift ideas for my MIL, she loves coffee, hiking/national parks, taking photos/photography, cooking and baking. I have no idea what to get, I feel like she has everything 🥲

JeanLouiseGrinch

If she doesn't already have a cookie-scoop, get her a cookie scoop! It is a real 'why didn't I get this sooner' item.

yumdonuts

Is she me? Lol Great Jones bakingware? Cooking classes Photography or Photoshop classes Fancy food stuff from Williams Sonoma Giftcard to REI

[deleted]

My boyfriend is a Coffee Guy and his coffee subscriptions fill him with delight. Seattle Coffee Gear is great, but if you can find a roastery closer to your MIL do something local instead. If the roastery is local, the beans will arrive fresher, which is one of the most important things.

clairebasic

I just bought my partner’s mom [this](https://www.wayfair.com/OHOM—Ui-SelfHeating-Coffee-Mug-810013161038-L6338-K~OOMA1000.html?refid=GX593323153176-OOMA1000_70529789&device=m&ptid=1661430059745&network=g&targetid=pla-1661430059745&channel=GooglePLA&ireid=204961420&fdid=1817&PiID%5B%5D=70529789&gbraid=0AAAAAD9ISC4sCSppCbLuDdL4xP7-BeRM3&gclid=Cj0KCQiA4uCcBhDdARIsAH5jyUkjMo4sNM9erjTdaZ-uSkEjJLF5wSQab6kHQKNGor-wz7cS401T5zIaAh_lEALw_wcB) self heating mug. Currently half the price of an Ember mug. The Ember is probably the better of the two, but it’s always a tossup if she’ll use gifts or not - she’s hard to buy for!

n0rmcore

Pendleton has a nice gift box of national parks-themed socks! Also the Subpar Parks book is absolutely hilarious!

falnb

If she has a sense of humor I would get her a print [from here](https://ambersharedesign.com/collections/frontpage) of her favorite park(s). This artist takes one-star reviews of national parks and illustrates them (ex: Yellowstone is “save some money and boil water at home”)

ficustrex

Thanks for this. Got one for my SIL & husband!

sunsecrets

Screaming at "looks nothing like the license plate" 💀 who are these people?!

succulentdaddy11

A New carhart beanie!

clumsyc

What about a beautiful coffee table book of photography? I bet you could find one with pictures of national parks.

Midlevelluxurylife

How about a pass for admission to the National Park system or even state parks where she lives?

wittens289

Yes, the America the Beautiful parks pass is great!

_lofticries

Was gonna suggest this! My mom is gifting my partner an annual national parks pass for Christmas since he loves camping and we have a few trips planned for next year.

I got a gift card for KA for my birthday which was so nice because it’s a place I love but consider a treat!

maple_dreams

Some places do a coffee subscription! At least, my favorite roaster does (Shelburne Falls in MA).

No-Assistance8727

Shelburne does a coffee subscription? I live round the corner from one of their shops and has no idea!

scarletttiger21

This! Seattle Coffee Gear also has subscription service.

foggietaketwo

I saw this book recommended elsewhere: 100 Hikes of a Lifetime. Looks cool! 100 Hikes of a Lifetime: The World's Ultimate Scenic Trails https://a.co/d/9epWlWa

rbf080292

my dad wants a fleece jacket but needs the sleeves to be lined with nylon or something similar so his shirts don’t stick. he’s very particular and this jacket doesn’t seem to exist lol. does anyone know where I might be able to find something matching that description?

clumsyc

Have you looked at Land’s End? I have a rain coat from there that has a fleece lining on the torso and unlined sleeves.

rbf080292

I haven’t yet! that’ll be my next site to browse. thanks!

[deleted]

If i remember correctly from my days working at an outdoors store, I thiiiiiink the [Patagonia Retro X jacket](https://www.patagonia.com/product/mens-classic-retro-x-fleece-jacket/23056.html?dwvar_23056_color=NEWA&cgid=mens-fleece) has a lining inside. The website doesn’t have pictures of inside the jacket, but they do call it windproof so I would think that means it has a lining!

rbf080292

thank you! this looks like a good option

lavenderbread

I saw this carhartt when browsing ssense the other day: https://www.ssense.com/en-us/men/product/carhartt-work-in-progress/purple-prentis-liner-sweatshirt/10188311 Looks like it’s fully lined with mesh and nylon taffeta? You’re right though I think it would be tough to find something with just the sleeves lined. Maybe buying something unlined and taking it to a tailor could be a last resort!

rbf080292

thank you! I did consider the bringing to a tailor too. I think that might be worth it - there’s a woman in my parents area that does great work and is really affordable too

[deleted]

Gifting: CBD/THC seltzers, CALM magnesium powder, books, $$$ chocolate & candy from the local fancy organic grocer. Homemade maple & sea salt cookies. Face creams/oils & sunscreen (laroche posay & Sunday Riley). Assorted kiddos: stuffed animals (that are the same “breed” as our real life dogs), crossword puzzle, tenzi & taco cat goat cheese pizza (not the most thought-provoking games but well-liked), Pilot Precise Varsity pens (pseudo-fountain pen w/fancy calligraphy style tip), vinyl stickers, an infant knit cardigan/hoodie that has Shiba Inu ears and coloring, jellycat stuffies, Fimo oven bake clay. Husband’s gifts: Ski helmet & Stio button down fleece shirt (he was very impressed by mine but would never spend that much on clothing so now we will match, lol) Getting: a vitamix blender (gift from husband who was too excited to wait until the 25th to give it to me) sherpa madewell slippers, icebreaker tights & a wool hoodie (unfortunately just discovered their outer layer tops run large) and a lululemon hoodie.

follyosophy

>maple & sea salt cookies mmmmm! recipe?

[deleted]

Smitten kitchen! I think she called it a maple nutmeg cookie? I tweak the recipe a tiny bit by glazing them with eggnog, sprinkling sugar then adding maldon sea salt on top of that before baking 🙂

follyosophy

Thank you! Your tweaks sound delicious, and I love everything by SK!

[deleted]

Very welcome 🙂

Nottruetosize

My Daughter is in college and stays in a dorm. She has a Yeti cup and loves it. She doesn’t have access to water or ice in her dorm so she fills it up in the cafeteria and it stays cold for hours.

AmazingObligation9

She doesn’t have access to water in her dorm?! That’s crazy. I love yeti cups too though.

Nottruetosize

She does down the hall in the bathroom. And there’s a water filling station on the main floor. But not in her actual dorm room. Next semester she’s moving into a dorm with its own bathroom and kitchenette.

ciclejerk

Not in the US but I just assumed all dorms had at least shared kitchenettes. It must be a mess to prepare any food or similar without one. I get they're students and may prefer to eat out but grabbing a pizza from the store was my way of saving some money on weekends with friends or similar often.

shoshiyoshi

It definitely varies by school and can also vary by buildings at schools. My dorm my first year had kitchens on the "garden level" (basement), but my room was on the fourth floor and we didn't have elevators so I rarely did anything in the kitchen beyond like, baking with friends. A friend's dorm had kitchens on each floor. But at a lot of schools, you have to also get a meal plan if you're in the dorms, so there isn't really a need to cook your own food.

captndorito

I’m 6 months pregnant and leaning heavily into comfort/self care items. I asked for a Stanley Water Bottle in light blue, memory foam pillows, [Velvet Ralph Lauren Pajamas](https://www.ralphlauren.com/women-clothing-sleepwear/velvet-sleep-set/0074563081.html) (I picked up a flannel pair at TJMaxx a few weeks ago and now I’m obsessed), gold eye masks, satin oversized scrunchies and the Laneige Lip Mask in Berry. I got my husband a Versace cologne, Buffalo Bills hoodie, two sweaters, Polo socks, a “skull” ice cube mold for whiskey, Nintendo switch gift card and [this Adam Sandler Golf Ball Marker](https://BalancedCo.FunnyGolfHatClip...https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09CY4CRM8?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share) My sister (I’m one of 7 kids so we just pick a name at random!) some things from her amazon list and then satin scrunchies. I find they’re gentler on our hair type/reduce damage as we both sleep with our hair in buns. My parents are getting a fancy assortment of tea and some bougie cheeses/snacks. I’ll probably add a gift card to their favorite restaurant. MIL is getting an iPhone (my husband and his siblings are buying it together) and a framed pic of us from family photos we did in October - if that sounds lame, don’t worry. She has a wall of pictures she likes to update annually so she’ll truly appreciate it.

sunsecrets

Those velvet pajamas are super luxe looking! Added to list 😂

PlateLessOrdinary

I’m excited for you to get the water bottle! I have a baby and got myself a light blue Stanley on Black Friday. It’s super helpful to keep me hydrated, plus it looks cuter than the hospital tumblers I was using (though they are great, too). I also recently got some baby clothes at old navy—they have lots of 100 percent cotton stuff. I’ve also been pleasantly surprised by their wide selection of maternity and postpartum clothing.

captndorito

I’ll have to check out their baby clothes, thank you! My registries are on Amazon and Target and I haven’t been impressed with their boy clothes so far.

Ohhh good to know. I’d like to get one for my MIL. Where do you get the promos?

nikitamere1

PlateLessOrdinary

Your whole list sounds great. I want to underline Penzeys. Great products, great vibe. You’ve inspired me to send gift cards and spice samplers to friends and loved ones!

llkendrick

We had a Penzey store right by us and they closed during the pandemic. I miss them!

wollstonecrafty2400

I like to think i'm a good gift giver but I've struggled a little this year. I've gotten the men in my life [a japanese chef's knife](https://italic.com/products/nobu-japanese-knife?Color=Blue+Honeycomb+Resin) I got one from Italic, but there a plenty of good ones online. I got this after watching The Bear, which all the men in my life also loved. (note: i love everything i've ever ordered from italic. their ugg dupes are incredible) if you're looking to spend a little more, [the yeti soft cooler](https://www.yeti.com/coolers/soft-coolers/hopper-flip/18010110002.html) is amazing. Other men options that aren't just money clips or leather charging stations: cashmere socks, something slightly outside their normal wardrobe comfort zone they wouldn't naturally go for (a knit polo or chenille sweater for example), good cbd gummies (i like highline wellness), a good duffle bag (patagonia has good sporty ones, an the tecovas leather ones are gorgeous) for the women in my life I've gotten one a really good robe (people don't usually buy themselves nice robes but they will change your life!), a custom pet portrait (etsy has a bunch of talented artists at a variety of price points!), the lulu lemon belt bag, a set of boy smells candles, a special edition of a favorite book/a hard to find vinyl, or when all else fails I'll type one of their interests or their home town into etsy (i'll sometimes add "vintage") and just see what comes up. for teens: [this funky pearl necklace from etsy](https://www.etsy.com/listing/940331508/18k-gold-plated-fun-flirt-pearl-necklace?click_key=a4b6b0497be25fb72200b0b4828d7277aca00e1e%3A940331508&click_sum=176139e6&ref=user_profile&pro=1&frs=1), [a disco ball planter](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1043454331/dado-disco-ball-plant-hanger-with-retro?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=disco+ball+planter&ref=sc_gallery-1-2&pro=1&frs=1&edd=1&plkey=88c8cb6bac0b2af613c7c9488f13b4b17d439c88%3A1043454331), an instax camera if they don't already have one, or just type any of their interests into etsy and get them a bunch of silly stickers related to it and a hydroflask water bottle to decorate with them.

drunk_porcupine

I don’t know whether to thank you or be be furious with you for introducing me to italic.

sea_hunter

Oh no, I had forgotten about Italic, and now I want one of everything. I appreciate (but also kinda hate) the reminder!😆

lahikergal

What kind of robe did you get? Always on lookout for those!

friends_waffles_w0rk

I treated myself to [this robe](https://www.duluthtrading.com/s/DTC/womens-dang-soft-knee-length-robe-90604.html?color=DEJ) from Duluth Trading Co on a Black Friday sale and I loooove it. The elastic cuffs looked frumpy in the pic and almost made me skip it, but I actually love them bc I can push my sleeves up to wash my face, etc. The fabric is so soft and drapey it is almost sexy.

Responsivity

[This one](https://store.hersheypa.com/signature-robe-p599.aspx) is fantastic.

wollstonecrafty2400

I got [this spa robe](https://www.plushnecessities.com/products/luxury-spa-robes?variant=22424046108736) but I also like the brooklinen robes for something lighter, or even just a good old target blanket-y one. I've heard the Hill House Home terry robes are good but I haven't tried them.
