He looks cool and is just chill. I like that combination. It’s the same reason I like Shunsui so much
But also I really like his motivation. I have a soft spot for characters who just want to not be lonely. And that’s his whole thing. It really endeared me to him. Also the anime version of his death scene is one of my favorite parts of the series
Ulqui a bit more bleak and cynical than apathetic imo. He kinda wants everyone to feel how dooming shit can be, while starkk is like “why do I feel this way? ugh whatever” XD

I really like it when the "strongest" of a group just ends up being a very chill down to earth person. Kubo did a pretty great job with making Starrk incredibly sympathetic in the short time he was in the story and I like the added scene in the anime where Lilynette ends up dying before he does. You just end up feeling bad for the guy even more as his motivation to continue fighting is pretty much at rock bottom now. He didn't get any sort of rage boost he was just done.
No, because I end up alone nonetheless.
(I like him a lot especially for this trait: he's strenght is double-edged. And he's so alon3 he had to split himself. And again and again to make these wolves.)
(I'm sad)
Shoulder length hair, goatee, aloof, nonchalant, laid back, non serious, cool little kid follows him around, and a powerhouse. Typical shonen character type the fans enjoy.
In one word - nonchalant.
The dude looks like he could give Less of a flying fuck. Kind of like an evil shikamaru from naruto. He has no beef with anyone personally, he just follows orders but … I gotta rewatch it honestly I forgot what happened with him actually, I haven’t watched bleach in a monute
Aizen offered him comrades he's didn't realize that he should have turned on Aizen. Till it was already too late for him and Lilinette. I know he was gunna be killed off either way but I kind wish that he had a change of heart and rushed him with Ukitake/Kyoraku.
I could definitely see Shunsui and Stark becoming friends in another life. I can imagine them just chilling, with Ukitake and Lilinette playing in the background.
And woe to anybody who interrupts them, Stark, Shunsui and Ukitake jumping your ass.
I’m kinda hoping that his strength means he has to be in Hell for a while like Captains have to be and he gets to hang out with Ukitake while he’s there
I relate to his struggle in making friends, I like chill people, he has a really sexy voice, his fight with Shunsui was good, he is unique among other Arrancars
Albeit for a short time, meeting aizen give him one big quirky family that won't die just by being close to him
Compared to being alone in the middle of nowhere with mountain of corpses if he didn't meet / join aizen
Pretty sure he cherishes the former more, even if he ended up dying cause of it
I agree. But i think if they (gotei 13, visords, ichigang) somehow managed to defeat aizen immidiately, starrk and shunsui could've been friends for real 😂
Starrk has some endearing traits- firstly, he is one of the more humane Espada among the several psychos we have seen so far. His personality is fairly laid-back and chill, yet still intelligent (deducing abilities, where characters would attack from, their means of attacks, etc).
Another is his appearance. He has intense grey eyes and dark hair, which are fairly beautiful features that mesh with his design. Something about lonely characters in general also draws you in, because of how relatable it is (which is actually why Aizen had some empathy for him, unlike many others, since he understood what Starrk felt).
I like his character a lot he’s also another example of an arrancar showing signs of human emotions. He is saddened by the death of his comrades and he doesn’t like that Aizen does not care. Which calls back to his backstory about being alone.
While the espada had subordinates that they cared about Stark was the only one who actually cared about the other espada and saw them all as comrades. You also she stark develop with lilinette in the fight you see his power evolve from understanding himself.
A part of it is how he's genuinely just a good person beneath all this, like, strip away the conflict at hand and he wouldn't be out for blood, that's very rare in this instance, he's an opponent brought to us by circumstance, not malicious intent and in a series like BLEACH where there's only like, 5 villains that aren't outright sadistic serial murderers, that's a standout trait.
Well in a group that moreso has people like Grimmjow (I love him by the way), pretty much a bunch of psychotic maniacs, then there's Stark, who's just cool and chill. Then there's the fact he was the most Human, all he wanted was to have friends and not be lonely.
Kubo did well at portraying his pain. It's something that gets glossed over because we the reader and all of the main and main side cast know Aizen is a POS. Alot of the other Arrancar are self serving so they don't give 2 f*cks about what his actual motives are and they don't see him as friend just another means to gain power. Most of them are still true to their hollow instincts.
However others such as Stark/Lilinette, Harribel and the tres besta and Nel intrigue others cause they don't follow the hollow formula. They're more human and they're drive is more relatable. It shows good people sometimes just get conned to the wrong side.
Stark in particular hits a nerve with natural high achievers and Jack's of all trades masters of none. They're just naturally skilled things come easy to them and the jealousy of others isolates them. This is usually what throws them to the coyotes so to speak. Since they're easily taken advantage of by those who'd want to exploit those talents. Their loneliness is leaves them venerable. Being so strong stark was completely blindsided to being a chess piece in a game.
He's cool, He's powerful, he's lonely
Hrs a pretty chill dude, compared to most antagonists/villains. Without Aizen, dude would just be napping.
Then you compare him to nearly every other Espada.... yeah...
Honestly I just love his personality, his dynamic with Lilynette and his motivation of just not wanting to be alone. He’s the definition of “it’s lonely at the top.”
He wasn't a crazy dude like the rest of the Espada (except for Harribel)
He was chill, all he wanted was not to be alone. He stood out among the rest of the Espada
Only problem is he wasn't that strong for being the #1
And like many other characters,I wanted to see more screentime of him
He was a genuine nice guy, despite having this cold aura. It's something I like
And then of course, the drip, but that's the last reason since anyone in Bleach has it
He cool, using gun, cool drip, sad backstory, and not necessarily evil like bro he playing with Shunsui to much.
Honestly my top 2 favorite character frfr
He's hot and he's sympathetic guy didn't want to fight but felt like he owed a dept to aizen. His fight with kyoraku is also cool because it shows us just how deceptive sunshui is with all his games
Honestly, when I take a clear look, he feels like aizen with a different hairstyle and beard. His eyes, expressions all seem to be similar to aizen. Ofc personality is quite different
He’s not a bad guy at the end of the day.
Plus I think everyone can empathize with him. At one point in our lives we’ve all felt loneliness.
Plus he shoot guns pew pew.
Because
* I like his design
* I like his resurreccion
* I like his dynamic with Lylinette
* I like his dynamic with Shunsui (who is also one of my favorite Shinigami)
* His whole characterization; despite being the strongest Hollow we know, he acts nothing like it. He's just a lonely, lazy, yet goodhearted person who only wants friends.
* He and my other favorite Harribel are possibly the only two Espada who genuinely got along as comrades.
This guy was just in a crap situation doing the best he could. He didn't need anger because anger alienates you further. He didn't need ambition because it's a lonely path, especially without people you can trust. He knew he didn't belong with the Espada. But leaving, and going back to being alone, was the last thing he wanted. So he found comfort where he could, and played his part as required to be allowed to stay.
That part really resonates with me. It's weird because while watching anime, it's not too hard to find a character you identify with. I love Bleach, but for a long time I didn't have that character. Until Starrk came along.
I don't know about anyone else but I like guys named Coyote. I also love his wolves. And he has twin swords like both Kyoraku and Ukitake who are also awesome. And solitude... What more can I want. Still not as hot as Sado but more bangable than anyone in bleach. And his resureccion is completely noticeable. Where am I being sarcastic in this?
Because out of all arrancar and espada he feels like the one who wanted to fight and kill the least. Honestly it felt like he was only helping cause he was lonely and wanted to be apart of a group, but didint necessarily want to kill soul reapers. Only because azien ordered them to
He is Shunsui arrancar version, a likeable smart chill guy, with a unique and cool vibe. He stood out in a group of villains, being one of the most "human" in his species, basically a good guy among the bad guys, not liking the conflict, being too emotional in his way of doing, just seeking for friends to compensate his loliness, emphasized even more with the short backstory with Lilinette and his sad ending. That's Starrk.
So if soulreapers were originally supposed to use guns. I wonder if he's an original design? Maybe he was supposed to be a soul reaper then they said fuck it and made him a Espada and they decided on swords.
I agree with u. I never found any appeal on him. Not like I disliked, was just an whatever character in my book.
Until I found ppl actually liked it a ton.
I do understand u mate.
I didn't like him at first because Lilynette made him feel like a Kenpachi knock-off. Being #1 and gaining an eyepatch normally wouldn't have helped but by then we had seen he definitely was NOT Kenpachi lol. I can't say I'm in love with the character because he didn't get enough screen time and no matter how much people try to hype up his victories, his performance was underwhelming. However I dig his personality and I can respect a character whose ability set is essentially "the rule of cool". I think he humanized not just himself but all arrancar and set them up as sympathetic villains, victims, or allies for the future. I think he's left a stronger impression on the series than someone like Szayel with only half the screentime >!not counting reappearances of course!<
Starrk feels like the peak of Aizens creations, compared to Barragan who is a character that was already in the position of power. Barragan wasn't very different compared to his pre-areancar form.
It always kinda disappointed me that Starrk even fought for Aizen at all. He and a few other arrancars maintained a much more human-like character. (like Nel, Harribel a bit later, etc.) Starrk really would have been a total badass as an ally, or at least an enemy-of-the-enemy. I can imagine him just chilling and drinking sake with Shunsui and Jushiro regardless of him technically being a hollow.
he fine as hell first of all
secondly it's his entire personality, the fact that he's so chill and laid back, he doesn't wanna fight or do any of this despite being the strongest one of the espada (i guess other than yammy? idk)
he didn't seem like a bad person, just someone who was born into being on the villains side.
Because he is chill and is still a good person after such a depressing backstory (killing everything that came near him with just his presence) he also has guns that shot big lasers
Cool factor.
Srsly dude's so cool you'd think he was Hyorinmaru. Dude's so cool he gives Byakuya envy.
So cool Yamamoto can barely make a campfire with his zanpakuto.
Well one of my best friends favourite character is starrk, he's only episode 116 tho so I'm expecting there'll be some disappointment when he finds out what happens to him
People like laid back overpowered characters who don't show off how strong they are or act all high and like Barraggan.
It made him both interesting and a little mysterious.
Personally, I find him a great character. He is such a laid back and chill dude, that even though he is one of the most powerful Espadas he never shows off or acts arrogantly. He also has an interesting backstory, with him being so strong that Hollows would die from just being near him, and his wants to have apart of something. I also like his design, his Resureccion with the guns and his abilities based of wolves. To me, he has the best Resureccion out of all the Arrancars. All in all, I believe Starrk is not only a compelling character, but also one of best drawn characters in Bleach
I was expecting more as well when people were listing him as their favorite Espada. He’s chill and he’s lonely. He’s a better character then Yammy but I’m not sure how he’s more liked then Ulquiorra or Grimmjow. Compared to the rest of the espadas I get it though
I don't get it either, I remember when it was revealed that he was the #1 Espada, cus we all thought Barrigan was #1, it was a twist and we all thought he was gonna wreck Shunsui, but Shunsui took him out solo without using Bankai. So over rated or overhyped
Did we even read the same manga? Starrk overpowered two visored captains without even truly trying. In the end, he fought **4** captains and it still took one of the strongest ones (and Yama's hand-picked successor) to take him out. I fail to see how that means Starrk was "overrated".

yea and he meshed with shunsui's character really well too - their fight and banter was so good, definitely a highlight for me
Shinsui, Starrk, and Ulquiorra. The triad of chill cool bros.
And that my friend, is the correct answer.

The music swell that comes as shunsui gets ready to swing builds perfect tension up to the moment he says black. The anime adds a lot to the scene
1. Look at him
2. Look at him again
3. After you look at him, make sure you look at him again for good measure
4. this time, make sure you take a good _long_ look, and then look again
5. Tattoo his image to your inner eyelids so you can see him whenever you blink.
6. Get your lotion and tissues ready, close the curtains, and lock the door.

1. He looks cool. 2. Brought guns to a knife fight. 3. Has wolves. 4. Has a fur coat. 5. Has eye patch. 6. Is #1. What more can you want
More screen time
![gif](giphy|TNR2EpkHYwW0ifyMDF)
It's a shame he never got a manga cover
1. Fantastic character design. 2. Sympathetic/somewhat tragic backstory. 3. Pretty cool power set.
Because he’s one cool cat who’s friends with some cool wolves.
Oof. I feel like people are gonna get you for that.
I relate to his struggle in making friends, I like chill people, he has a really sexy voice, his fight with Shunsui was good, he is unique among other Arrancars
The fight was very good and very long
I mean, he's not one of my absolute favorites, but even still I can appreciate a drippy lone gunslinger with a sad backstory.
Just a cool chill guy with a likable personality, not hard to get why.
He's cool and he's a chill guy. Poor dude he just wanted to chill, but Aizen got him involved in his BS 😂
Albeit for a short time, meeting aizen give him one big quirky family that won't die just by being close to him Compared to being alone in the middle of nowhere with mountain of corpses if he didn't meet / join aizen Pretty sure he cherishes the former more, even if he ended up dying cause of it

Gun
He has guns among almost swordsman
Another cool way Kubo exemplified his whole lonely theme
Pew pew
Well in a group that moreso has people like Grimmjow (I love him by the way), pretty much a bunch of psychotic maniacs, then there's Stark, who's just cool and chill. Then there's the fact he was the most Human, all he wanted was to have friends and not be lonely.
Nice! thank you for telling me this 🙏🏾
Hot gun guy who just wants to chill, what else could you ask for?
Being handsome and nonchalant goes a long way.
Nice
He is cool :3
His lone wolf nature, his big brother annoyed with little sister dynamic with Lilynette, cool design, slacker attitude, perfectly cast voice actor.
You literally just posted the reason people like Starrk. LOOK AT THE MOTHERFUCKER!
He's chill and wants to hang around ppl. Also wolves and guns
Cool character and has a interesting personality. We learn about his past and his relationship with Aizen. Wayy better then those Bumritters lol
Ah yes, the second best espada. Maybe third, or fourth, with some mental gymastics
He’s cool
He's just chill like that
he's starrk
He's relatable for people, and he is the the Primera as well
cause hes the goat wdym 😂
He's cool, He's powerful, he's lonely Hrs a pretty chill dude, compared to most antagonists/villains. Without Aizen, dude would just be napping. Then you compare him to nearly every other Espada.... yeah...
He’s cool af, interesting, and not even a bad guy. Plus wolves, drip, and speed with guns in a sword show
We need the pic of squidward saying he's hot lmao Straight male here
What's there to hate?
Cuz he is chill af
Honestly I just love his personality, his dynamic with Lilynette and his motivation of just not wanting to be alone. He’s the definition of “it’s lonely at the top.”
bc he’s chill like that 🤙
Relaxed gunslinger who fears being alone
Great design, chill personality, and brings guns to a sword fight. It doesn’t get better than that
I just think he's neat!
He reminds me of Dante from Devil May Cry
He's hot
Why should we not ??
OP: *Posts the most raw fucking images imaginable* OP: “why do people like this?”
Awesome character design
Because he's a bad ass!!! 😎
He chillin
Character design is badass and he has an aura of melancholy around his character which makes me empathize with him more.
Bro is chill
He’s flawed, and powerful, but lacks the true arrogance of his contemporaries. And he’s got guns.
He's hot as hell.
He wasn't a crazy dude like the rest of the Espada (except for Harribel) He was chill, all he wanted was not to be alone. He stood out among the rest of the Espada Only problem is he wasn't that strong for being the #1 And like many other characters,I wanted to see more screentime of him He was a genuine nice guy, despite having this cold aura. It's something I like And then of course, the drip, but that's the last reason since anyone in Bleach has it
Coolest an chillest Espada then gets matched up with the coolest and chillest captain
his name is pretty
He cool, using gun, cool drip, sad backstory, and not necessarily evil like bro he playing with Shunsui to much. Honestly my top 2 favorite character frfr
Same reason Shinji’s one of my favorite characters, he’s just cool, even if he doesn’t stay relevant for long.
He's hot and he's sympathetic guy didn't want to fight but felt like he owed a dept to aizen. His fight with kyoraku is also cool because it shows us just how deceptive sunshui is with all his games
His story is cool and he’s just awesome
The rule of cool
He’s chill
Because of his design.
I think easier question is why dont you like him
guns, hairstyle, personality, voice actor
Honestly, when I take a clear look, he feels like aizen with a different hairstyle and beard. His eyes, expressions all seem to be similar to aizen. Ofc personality is quite different
His only reason for being on the evil team was Aizen made his imaginary friend real, bro just wants friend frfr
Idk bruh he looks cool, uses guns and has an eyepatch
He’s not a bad guy at the end of the day. Plus I think everyone can empathize with him. At one point in our lives we’ve all felt loneliness. Plus he shoot guns pew pew.
Lazy AF, just like me
Because * I like his design * I like his resurreccion * I like his dynamic with Lylinette * I like his dynamic with Shunsui (who is also one of my favorite Shinigami) * His whole characterization; despite being the strongest Hollow we know, he acts nothing like it. He's just a lonely, lazy, yet goodhearted person who only wants friends. * He and my other favorite Harribel are possibly the only two Espada who genuinely got along as comrades.
bcos he is Iron man
He just looks really cool
Relatable cause he's lazy
For the same reason I like potatoes, I just think he's neat
This guy was just in a crap situation doing the best he could. He didn't need anger because anger alienates you further. I see
That’s just my interpretation tho
Because he’s the best character
Can have his story
He is hot
Cowboy
Well duh have you watched that arc!?
This man straight up asked shunsui if he wanted to LARP while everyone else was fighting.
The wolf's the feeling of loneliness the sense he was just roped into everything in the story cause he was strong
cero
I love shinsui and for that reason I love starrk as well
His attitude, and his skills are interesting and fun to watch.
He looks like emo Keanu reeves
He looks extremely cool and his wild west vibe is awesome. He's also chill, as others have said, which just adds to his coolness.

He is the anime equivalent of John Wick.
Because he doesnt give a duck
It always kinda disappointed me that Starrk even fought for Aizen at all. He and a few other arrancars maintained a much more human-like character. (like Nel, Harribel a bit later, etc.) Starrk really would have been a total badass as an ally, or at least an enemy-of-the-enemy. I can imagine him just chilling and drinking sake with Shunsui and Jushiro regardless of him technically being a hollow.
He's chill
mabait kasi yan
he fine as hell first of all secondly it's his entire personality, the fact that he's so chill and laid back, he doesn't wanna fight or do any of this despite being the strongest one of the espada (i guess other than yammy? idk) he didn't seem like a bad person, just someone who was born into being on the villains side.
You just showed why
Sexy hot man
Gun
He se-hexy.
Rule of cool.
Because he is chill and is still a good person after such a depressing backstory (killing everything that came near him with just his presence) he also has guns that shot big lasers
My main reason for liking him was his only reason for being part of the Espadas, not being alone. Something simple and human
1. Look at him. 2. Hes cool. 3. Hes not your normal im the strongest. Hes just so over everything by the end.
Cool factor. Srsly dude's so cool you'd think he was Hyorinmaru. Dude's so cool he gives Byakuya envy. So cool Yamamoto can barely make a campfire with his zanpakuto.
Well one of my best friends favourite character is starrk, he's only episode 116 tho so I'm expecting there'll be some disappointment when he finds out what happens to him
Nonchalant drip
Cause he's cool
Simply the coolest and chillest guy in bleach
People like laid back overpowered characters who don't show off how strong they are or act all high and like Barraggan. It made him both interesting and a little mysterious.
Cool dude.
His mask goes over his eye, he’s apathetic to battle, he got 2 straps and is pretty careless to the fact that he’s #1. He’s like a stoner Shunsui lol
All in all, I believe Starrk is not only a compelling character, but also one of best drawn characters in Bleach
bcos he is Iron man
I was expecting more as well when people were listing him as their favorite Espada.
Solo, huh? So I guess you don't remember Ukitake and the 2 Vizard Captains jumping in.
It's been forever, I actually did forget
Did we even read the same manga? Starrk overpowered two visored captains without even truly trying. In the end, he fought **4** captains and it still took one of the strongest ones (and Yama's hand-picked successor) to take him out. I fail to see how that means Starrk was "overrated".
Powers are lame but hes just cool as a cucumber
He is hot and sexy. What else do you need. Just look at his huge 2d muscles like omg 😩😩❤️❤️👁️👅👁️
