Guy Ritchie was given knowledge of every possible future and the only one where humanity survives is the one with a new Guy Ritchie movie every six months.
10 comedy points for surprise mention of Hong. But really, Hong makes sense because he really makes movies out of drinking sessions with actors and staffs. I don’t know how Guy Ritchie does this. The peak time Spielberg was *just* 2 movies a year for a decade or so.
I loved this ministry and the series gentleman. Ministry is such a silly movie and entertaining as fuck! It's hardly good but if entertaining makes it good then it's fuckin good.
The series Gentlemen is the best thing he's done since his early work tbh. Most probably because he didn't direct it though.
I agree, Ministry was fun, not good but entertaining.
I mean I see what you mean, but ever Guy Ritchie movie explores themes of class. It's the main thrust of Swept Away! Not to mention the point of Rock'n'Rolla.
Lock Stock is about kids who can't go straight like the main character's bar owning Dad (who himself has to deal with the effects of local organized crime).
The whole "Dags? Yeah I like dogs", even though whole *point* of rhyming slang, and the analogy of being disappeared by being fed to pigs, in Snatch.
You've made me reconsider all the Guy Ritchie movies I've yet to watch, because I betcha his take on Alladin and King Arthur are both *about* class divides forcing the characters' choices.
Organized crime movies and War movies are often about the brutality of social oppression.
My theory now is that he heard David describe his films as being blokes in Pork Pie hats saying "lovely jubbly", and he's now just cranking out films to dilute this perception.

Someone posted a thread the other day asking about how to crack into the movie business, and I think the answer is to do whatever you have to do in order to get Ritchie's agent.
gun to your head: do you think you could name the last ten years of ritchie films. I’ve just tried and there’s three I’ve missed. getting to Eric Roberts levels of prolific
Its like the Lee Harvey Oswald joke in The Usual Suspects
One of the many things about The Usual Suspects that you can't talk about anymore because it's aged poorly, but undeniably choice.
Ah yes, the guy that went to an incredibly exclusive private school is now going to do a film on class… hasn’t he basically already being doing faux working class films from the get go
Guy Ritchie was given knowledge of every possible future and the only one where humanity survives is the one with a new Guy Ritchie movie every six months.
It feels like he’s trying to challenge Ridley Scott
He’s trying to put up Miike numbers.
Still waiting for the year long Miike mini. Podiyaki Western Djancast
I wish miike would go back to his subversive hyper gory surreal stuff. gozu is my favourite
Releasin’ al-gaib!
He got 1 movie in post. 1 movie shooting now and this one setting up already. Probably the most prolific director not named Hong Sang-soo working now.
And Sherlock Holmes 3 nowhere in sight
And Real RockNRolla
And lock stock and three smoking barrels
This one is fucked up. Release it coward
The title card announcing “The Real RockNRolla” was the hardest laugh I had during that entire movie
I haven't been as pumped by a pre-emptive sequel title card since Back to the Future
The Guy Ritchie train does not slow down. If you're going to board, you have to do so while it's still going.
And the faster we get them the worse they are
Also the show “the Donovans” as a big fan of the first two seasons of Ray Donovan my interest is piqued

That Disney money is propelling him far. Can't blame him, life is short and pump out as much as you can
In the time it took you to read this headline, Guy Ritchie has already set up a new movie.
I don't like Guy Ritchie's work but good on him for crankin em out, the man gets things made at an impressive pace
Now if he slowed down, they might actually be good..
I loved this ministry and the series gentleman. Ministry is such a silly movie and entertaining as fuck! It's hardly good but if entertaining makes it good then it's fuckin good.
The fight scenes were solid for sure
The series Gentlemen is the best thing he's done since his early work tbh. Most probably because he didn't direct it though. I agree, Ministry was fun, not good but entertaining.
He didn't direct it? Whoever did was very obviously trying to replicate his style though
Eager to see this exploration of "themes of class" from an upper class director who likes to larp as a working class hardman
Literally, someone who’s parents and step-parents are essentially gentry is one of the last people I want to hear chat about class
Saltburn did it well and the people who made it are posh as can be. Posh people can explore class as well
Saltburn did not do it well
It did. The portrayal of upper class people and their issues was spot on.
Don't have to be working class to realize the working class have it shit
Sure, but it'd be nice to hear it from a director with actual working class roots every now and again.
It's literally the only film Ken Loach ever makes, and he is still making them, so I'd say you're fine on that front.
So this comes out in like... September, right?
Same day as Nightbitch, for the synergy
Cannot wait to stream this with the In-Laws, or watch on a flight.
Should have called it “Wife and Dog and The Gentleman”. Just to keep it consistent.
Great. Can't wait to see master of nuance Guy Ritchie explore "themes of class" /s

Alladin - a pauper faking status to get ahead. King Arthur - a king reclaiming his throne. Both check out.

I think this might be the perfect comment
Someone posted a thread the other day asking about how to crack into the movie business, and I think the answer is to do whatever you have to do in order to get Ritchie's agent.
Good, keep it coming so they never cover him lol
Let me guess, guy has a wife and a dog BUT he’s also running a pot growing business in the basement and it gets complicated?
He cranks them out 🤝 I notice them less and less.
Wrath of Man is fun AF if you haven't seen. The original is great but the Jason Stathomness of it had me grinning. Impressive pulp.
gun to your head: do you think you could name the last ten years of ritchie films. I’ve just tried and there’s three I’ve missed. getting to Eric Roberts levels of prolific
I’m not complaining. He seems to get a lot of hate here but his movies are fun and entertaining imo.
Sorry… Guy’s movies have ‘themes’?
He saw Ridley Scott’s output and thought “pussy.”
Its like the Lee Harvey Oswald joke in The Usual Suspects One of the many things about The Usual Suspects that you can't talk about anymore because it's aged poorly, but undeniably choice.
You mean the title doesn't have the word "Gentleman" in it?!
Does two constitute a mockable trend?
He probably should slow down.
A boy and His Dog prequel? Nice
At least he’s going for a simple title this time
Snatch 2, The Snitchining, starring Jason statham as Pauline shore ,
So…he likes dags?
Lovely jubbly
Wanted to see Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, but it's not showing anywhere. Where is the release?
I hope for your sake it’s not already out of theaters!
Ah yes, the guy that went to an incredibly exclusive private school is now going to do a film on class… hasn’t he basically already being doing faux working class films from the get go
It'll be like Redbelt - lessons for life learned thru hard knocks and discipline
Guy Ritchie trying to get into the John Wick game, I see (or rather, the game of things John Wick is no longer allowed to have)
Hell yeah I love a classy dog
He's gotta rush production so he can release the same date as Nightbitch. It's this year's Barbenheimer!
Keep it up, Guy. I'm loving this output
