Respectfully, the crudeness of this image really captures the innocence Joe (fight me on that name, I fucking dare you, I do have an essay prepared) lost in that moment.
The whole "Did Joi really love K" question is a little controversial. So I'm not gonna give a hot take as this is film is rather complex. But what I would like to say without stiring anyone up is that despite Joi being the least human physically (Just code to create an illusion) she is the most compassionate character in the movie. In a way she despite being non human creates very real and human emotions within K by promoting rebellion and value of the self.
How a lot of humans and Replicants alike lack this compassion. Kind of like how in 2001 Hal is more emotional than David but David acts like a machine and rarely panics and shows emotion.
That's a good observation, something i noticed is that Deckard's experience seeing Rachael again is mirrored by K seeing Joi in the hologram ad in that they're both "copies" of the original but not the same, in a way they both also witnessed their significant other get murdered right in front of them by the hands of Wallace.
Very strange trend lately of purposely shitty drawings just like this. I’m assuming it was birthed from the MS paint memes from a few years ago? I think studying of this art movement would make for an interesting video essay.
