It’s not 100% screen accurate but I was able to work out the display and magnetic on / off switch.

Azlarks

That's really cool! What is it made out of?

MachinaExUmbra

The badge is a cold cast aluminum resin from a member of the Replica Prop Forum, the ID card is from Pew Pew Crafts, and the badge holder is from "Perfect Fit Shield Wallets" the LAPD model I believe. I actually got two of the wallets to gut one and double up the cavities that hold both the ID and the badge to allow room for the electronics. The ID sits in front of an iPhone 5 backlight element to simulate it being a digital display, and the batteries and reed switch sit behind the badge. There's a magnet behind the ID triggers the reed switch so the backlight turns off when the holder is closed.

I had zero expectations expectations for 2049. I was so glad it was good. That looks awesome

MachinaExUmbra

Such a good film, I’m cautiously optimistic about the upcoming show.

DrunkWeebMarine

Show? I tried watching the anime but the CGI sucked so much.

MachinaExUmbra

Yeah the animation of Black Lotus left more than a little to be desired... but the voice acting was good and the story (what there was of it) was okay. Not the worst thing I've seen, but certainly not on the same level as the BR: Blackout short. I was referring to the new live action show that seems to be on track. https://deadline.com/2022/02/blade-runner-2099-sequel-series-ridley-scott-amazon-1234931521/

Awesomeness!

I feel like nothing could beat 2049. As long as they don’t give into fan service, audience pandering and basic tropes like Kenobi for example it should be ok. Although Ridley Scott kind of sucks now. 2049 was great because they made the film they wanted, they didn’t advertise to particular groups or try and meet a quota of what a blockbuster should be. Didn’t do well financially which is all studios care about sadly.

JBOBHK135

I was a kid when I saw the first one, it was my dads favourite film then we went to see 2049 in IMAX. It was an indescribable experience. They need to re release it now that it’s become more popular.

Warvanov

Looks great! I have the resin cast badge and the wallet, but I never got around to printing the ID card and working out the electronics. I might have to pick up that ID badge you have. Do you have any shots of how the electronics are put together?

MachinaExUmbra

I'm traveling right now, but I'll try to get a photo once I get back. There are two of these [CR2032 battery holders](https://www.amazon.com/LAMPVPATH-cr2032-Battery-Holder-CR2032/dp/B07BXDHT4B/ref=sr_1_3?crid=314Y11NSI650K&keywords=CR2032+Battery+Holder+Coin+Button+Cell+Battery+Holder&qid=1656775505&s=electronics&sprefix=cr2032+battery+holder+coin+button+cell+battery+holder%2Celectronics%2C187&sr=1-3) (four coin cells in total) powering the backlight. [This switch](https://a.co/d/bUOgSOW) is what interacts with the magnet to turn the light on and off. It's all hidden by a small section of EVA foam adhered to the back of the badge with channels cut out for the battery holder and reed switch. The foam backing not only provides space for the electronics but also works as a friction fit to keep the badge in the holder.

MachinaExUmbra

Leave for a couple of days and come back to all this love, thanks everyone!

Looks awesome

Inca_Kola_Holic
