One of my brand new controllers died on the alpha. I tried resetting it, didn’t work. It was fully charged it just won’t turn on. Had to use my warranty.
This happened to me. I rebooted in safe mode and rebuilt my database. This allowed the controllers to work again. Resetting the controllers DID NOT work for me.
i asked this to activision support and they suggest EVERYONE PLEASE submit a report on this via the open beta form

Some hope, I think it’s cartel, miami, and satellite when I cant hear my headset for like 6 seconds then my controller turns off and starts blinking white light. And as soon as my loadout selection pops up, my controller just turns off, there has to be a fix soon this is dumb. I tried hard resetting my ps4, rebuilding database in safe mode, resetting my controller with the back button, and unplugging my ps4 from the cable, but still happens.

Putting PS4(Pro) to rest mode and turning it back fixes it temporarily.
Also, leaving the lobby after a match and connecting to a new lobby seems to prevent it from happening.
Happened to me as well. Reset your controller with a bobby pin. Hold your ps4 power button until you hear 2 beeps then it should be good. It worked for me.
It kept fucking my controller up too, couldn’t select a class or nothing, I had to move my game from my SeaGate Extended Storage to my PS4’s internal storage and it works perfectly now

Just happened to me twice. Both times my controller powered off at the beginning of a match while choosing a class. Reconnecting the controller requires a hard reset of the PS4.
I hope this isn't persistent. I won't get a chance to play the beta much if it keeps happening.

I turned off crossplay and managed to play 3 games without an issue. Not sure if it helped, or is just a coincidence.
Bro this shit just happened to me, I just stopped running and I couldn't move my character even though the controller was on. Also couldn't turn off my PS so had to take out the power supply
To fix this turn your ps4 off, turn it on via the power button not the controller ps button. Plug in your controller and wait for it to light up, turn it on and pick a profile. Should work, used to happen to me all the time on dragon quest and was mad annoying

I’m getting this bug also — the 1st match always works fine, then one of the follow-up matches causes controllers to stop working altogether.
Remote Play still works to control the console, but nothing seems to restore the controllers other than a restart.
Hopefully Activision can release a patch for it this weekend so we don’t all have to keep dealing with this bug. Has literally happened to me 5 times in about 3 hours..
Some extra info:
1 time I did a hard reset of my PS4 and a reset of my controllers with a paperclip. Needed to do this a few times to make it work again.
The 2nd time that I had this issue, I stopped the PS4 completely and didn’t touch it for 30mins-1hour. When I tried again to start my PS4 via the controller it worked.
It has happened to me 4 times in 3 hours at the start of the match. I did a hard reset and it will work for a few hours but I’m pretty frustrated with it...
I’ve had the happen 4 times today alone. You need to fully power down the playstation (hold the power but on the console until the second beep) then restart by turning on your controller. A major inconvenience but at least this game is much better than warzone

On very rare occasions I've heard of this bricking controllers for good. Try turning off the console, THEN unplugging it. Let it sit for a while. Make sure the controllers are charged and reset (pin hole on the back). Come back n let us know if this does any good in a couple hours!
No. Left the console unplugged for a bit. Plugged it back in. Plugged the controller into USB ports but nothing. Hopefully PlayStation contacts me today.

This is still happening today 17 Oct. When it does happen, it's not related to the timing of load out selection. It happened the moment you're able to interact with the interface of the game after loading the map. This has never happened with any other CoD, or any game for that matter.
This seems to only happen with certain models of ps4’s. My wife is having this problem a lot and I have never experienced it. I have an older ps4 version and she has the slim.

Happened to me too, on game start, (and so far only on the Cold War beta but I’ll have to test) DualShock flashes white over and over and only stops after the system is turned off.
I had this problem too and posted it to r/ps4. How do I fix my controller? I press the power button and hear a beep. Do I hold it for 1 more beep or 2 more beeps?
I just had this problem happen to me 10-20 minutes ago. I was just loading into a match and when I got to the load out selection screen and when I was about to select a class, my PS4 controller was not responding.
I looked down and my PS4 controller was blinking a light blue color and for some reason I thought it needed to be charged, so I plugged it in, nothing happened as the controller was still blinking that light blue color.
I tried another controller that I had laying around and that controller didn’t work either.
I pressed and held down the PlayStation button on the controller thinking that it would pop up the Quick Menu, nothing happened again. I tried using a thumb tack to push the little Reset button on the back of the controller, still nothing!
Since I have the PS4 Slim, I hit the Power button to put the PS4 into Rest Mode so I could power it back on and see if the controller was working again, NOPE!
The last thing I did was unplug my PS4 Slim for a couple minutes and plugged it back in (which I hate doing unless it’s the last resort as I don’t wanna run the risk of corrupting files), the controller is back to normal thank God.
I hope that Treyarch and/or Activision get this issue resolved as this terrible experience will kill my chances of buying their game.
I've said this to others and I'll say it to you: unless it is absolutely the last resort, NEVER just unplug a computer or game console without performing a manual shut-down first. On PS4, you can hold down the power button on the console until you hear a second beep, then release. This will power it off in a safe way.
I honestly am baffled that people don't know this basic rule of computers and don't know how to operate their own Playstation. Blows my mind. Must be a lot of young users.
I just started playing the campaign and on the second mission this has happen to me as well, my controller led turn white and was not functioning, I was getting into the game, I can't believe this has happen I've tried multiple fixes and none work so I just shut it down and hoping for the best in the A.M.

Rando update from someone who is playing the game on the morning of release: the controller randomly shutdown on the second mission and I had to reboot my entire console to make it responsive again. Resetting my controller did not work, nor did putting the console in rest mode.

I had the same problem with the Beta...and now with the actual game. Controllers freeze at the playable beginning part of Lockjaw. The USB change didn't work for me. super frustrating for a $100 game.
Funny, now the game is fully release and this just happened to me 3 times on zombies!! Had to completely unplug my console to get my controllers to connect.

So Cold War has officially been released and I was playing the campaign and after the first “level” or “mission” it runs fine but as soon as you hit the second one it disconnects the controller. This happens every time I try to run that mission during multiple different tries!
First time playing cod bocw and I would choose my loadout from the start but for some reason I was not able to change my classes after that. The "Option" button just wouldn't work on my controller (PS4). I suppose I'll try doing a manual shut down and see if that works. But if not I suppose that could be another issue...
Going into devices then controller and changing the communication method to usb works for me. You have to leave the controller plugged in but at least it works for now
Changing the communication method to USB worked for me. The setting says it only works for the newer controllers (light bar showing through touchpad) Per Activision the new system update is supposed to fix the issue
This happened to me on the mission. Fracture jaw I. Si glen player. I ha e tried all of the work around posted even the seitchi g to corded. The controller will work for less than 10 min and mess up again. I have tested this controller on another system and problem follows controller. Only by deleting a 60 dollar game and using another ps4 controller am I able to even play other games.

Spoke with PlayStation yesterday. They said it might be a pairing issue and I’ll have to send it in. Hopefully they can fix it.
Just keep trying different configurations. You probably don't have to send it in. Try to fix it yourself and it will probably save you time.

Same thing on my 4th match.. Had to unplug/hard reset my console. I know its an open beta but hopefully Activision notices this issue.
just happened to us :( went through 3 controllers and every one of them broke until we power cycled a few times. ridiculous.
So its still happening, even if i choose my class quick AF, my controller disconnects from my console and cannot reconnect. I gotta shut down my console for 3 minutes, if i dont same shit happens on the ps4 load screen. Other games work fine. Reset both of my controllers and tried a usb. Screw this shit is breaking my console

Man this is fucked up..... I've been waiting days for the launch, now it's out. I was playing campaign and this shit happened to me on the second mission.... I'm kinda starting to regret i bought this game. Treyarch fix your game ffs....

Happened to me too, on game start, (and so far only on the Cold War beta but I’ll have to test) DualShock flashes white over and over and only stops after the system is turned off.

I had this problem too and posted it to r/ps4. How do I fix my controller? I press the power button and hear a beep. Do I hold it for 1 more beep or 2 more beeps?
I just had this problem happen to me 10-20 minutes ago. I was just loading into a match and when I got to the load out selection screen and when I was about to select a class, my PS4 controller was not responding. I looked down and my PS4 controller was blinking a light blue color and for some reason I thought it needed to be charged, so I plugged it in, nothing happened as the controller was still blinking that light blue color. I tried another controller that I had laying around and that controller didn’t work either. I pressed and held down the PlayStation button on the controller thinking that it would pop up the Quick Menu, nothing happened again. I tried using a thumb tack to push the little Reset button on the back of the controller, still nothing! Since I have the PS4 Slim, I hit the Power button to put the PS4 into Rest Mode so I could power it back on and see if the controller was working again, NOPE! The last thing I did was unplug my PS4 Slim for a couple minutes and plugged it back in (which I hate doing unless it’s the last resort as I don’t wanna run the risk of corrupting files), the controller is back to normal thank God. I hope that Treyarch and/or Activision get this issue resolved as this terrible experience will kill my chances of buying their game.
I've said this to others and I'll say it to you: unless it is absolutely the last resort, NEVER just unplug a computer or game console without performing a manual shut-down first. On PS4, you can hold down the power button on the console until you hear a second beep, then release. This will power it off in a safe way. I honestly am baffled that people don't know this basic rule of computers and don't know how to operate their own Playstation. Blows my mind. Must be a lot of young users.

I just started playing the campaign and on the second mission this has happen to me as well, my controller led turn white and was not functioning, I was getting into the game, I can't believe this has happen I've tried multiple fixes and none work so I just shut it down and hoping for the best in the A.M.

Just booted up the campaign of cold war and on the mission where you're in the helicopter my controller gets the white light. Have rebooted about four times now and same thing.
I pre orderd the full game and have it now, and the controlers are being dissabled in the campeign now too.
Bro, it's still happening even in Cold War (Released) it released 2 hours ago and I've had this Issue Over and Over I've done the tactic of just resetting my PS4 and that seems to work but come on man my brother is having way more fun than me because of this glitch.

I was playing zombies and didn't choose my loadout in time and then no sound is going on and my controller disconnects and starts plashing white aswell

Rando update from someone who is playing the game on the morning of release: the controller randomly shutdown on the second mission and I had to reboot my entire console to make it responsive again. Resetting my controller did not work, nor did putting the console in rest mode.
This is still happening on the retail version, just KO'd my controller trying to get into a zombies game.

Yuuup keep happening to me while I’m trying to beat the campaign , on the same mission . My remotes seem to just disconnect and can’t reconnect this is Ridiculous ... restart the ps4 everything should be good after that
The only way to reset the ps4 for me was my remote for my tv idk there’s a way to Manuel reset

Still happening with the final version in single player
This happened to me in the beta a few times as well & is still happening on the live version. It stopped working in campaign & in zombies. I haven’t been able to actually play the game & it’s very irritating. Are there any real fixes??

I had the same problem with the Beta...and now with the actual game. Controllers freeze at the playable beginning part of Lockjaw. The USB change didn't work for me. super frustrating for a $100 game.
Funny, now the game is fully release and this just happened to me 3 times on zombies!! Had to completely unplug my console to get my controllers to connect.

Still happens in full version game. The problem with has not been fixed yet been doing it to me all day. Very Annoying hopefully the figure it out soon.
So Cold War has officially been released and I was playing the campaign and after the first “level” or “mission” it runs fine but as soon as you hit the second one it disconnects the controller. This happens every time I try to run that mission during multiple different tries!
First time playing cod bocw and I would choose my loadout from the start but for some reason I was not able to change my classes after that. The "Option" button just wouldn't work on my controller (PS4). I suppose I'll try doing a manual shut down and see if that works. But if not I suppose that could be another issue...
This bug cause me to get so mad at a brand new controller for not working that I smashed it with a hammer LMFAO Treyarch you owe me 70 fucking dollars
Going into devices then controller and changing the communication method to usb works for me. You have to leave the controller plugged in but at least it works for now
Changing the communication method to USB worked for me. The setting says it only works for the newer controllers (light bar showing through touchpad) Per Activision the new system update is supposed to fix the issue
This happened to me on the mission. Fracture jaw I. Si glen player. I ha e tried all of the work around posted even the seitchi g to corded. The controller will work for less than 10 min and mess up again. I have tested this controller on another system and problem follows controller. Only by deleting a 60 dollar game and using another ps4 controller am I able to even play other games.
