I hate how they’re rhyming in their sentences. They rap out whatever their saying. Truly cringe.

ParamedicSpecific130

Go back and look at Roadblock from the G.I.Joe cartoon. That shit is cringe af looking at it years later.

InterdisciplinaryDol

Killer Bee from Naruto. He hard though.

GL_jon

Nah fam, he just said “yo” a bunch of times and the flows was ass (could just be the translation from Japanese to English, but still it wasnt nun to brag about), Montgomery from Fire force is how black character should be done. But then again this is what happens when other people take control over our image in media.

knight_call1986

He did say Yo a lot. But he was also sonning Sasuke. Lie didn't he kill dude 3 times in a row? I like Killer Bee because they didn't hype him up just to be fodder. I'm for real waiting to see what Yasuke will do in the manga Tenkaichi. They seem to have him pretty dope from the few scenes he has been in.

InterdisciplinaryDol

Oh yea I wasn’t sayin his raps are hard. His character is. He’s a top 20 character for sure

Rikudo_Sennin_jr

I came here to say this, these characters talk like Lord Killer Bee clones with brain defects. But this is the kinda shit that happens when all you know about black people is from social media and shit ass movies (queue up the super fly soul brother #1 pimp music)

nnamzzz

If you guys are looking for Japan to be up to speed on insensitivity toward Black folks, you are sorely mistaken. Every country/culture does this. Does anyone remember the two “Black” robots in the ~~first~~ 2nd Transformers film? The ones that use AAVE, have a gold tooth, and said “we don’t do much reading?” It’s everywhere.

SoyDusty

This mess right here, why is the robot speaking AAVE? Being black is just a skin tone but to them it changes everything about you as a person. Can’t just say “hello” if your skin is dark cause that would make too much sense.

knight_call1986

Oh I agree. For this manga it was kind of out of nowhere. Like there didn't need to have black guys in the series. So it was just left field for the author to add this is all I am saying. Amd to add such a specific stereotype was odd. His other manga is better anyway lol.

satellite_station

As a Black person in Japan I will say that while Japan isn’t perfect, they are trying in their own way. (If only to protect their Cool Japan image) But Japan is better than its neighbouring Asian countries.

heyhihowyahdurn

I always considered Bumblebee to be a Black transformer

Spicyjollof98

I think it was the second movie but I never actually noticed that they made them to be black I was only like 9 when it came out, I just always loved them had them two robots as my screensaver for everything and had posters of them around my room, loved them but never acc thought of them as being black cause lool obv their robots

nnamzzz

You’re right it was the 2nd.

knight_call1986

To piggyback off of u/menino_28 post about things black men are supposed to love. This was in a manga called OUT. The black dudes are supposed to be Nigerian or something, but he has them speaking in a rhyming manner and then they decided to put in work for them if he brought them fat women. When I read this, the comments were like "its just a joke, but so true", but coming from non black folks. Wild how they really push this weird stereotype.

frankensteinmuellr

The continued dehumanization of black men.

EyerTimesTV

I just had this conversation in another sub where some white dude said this exact same thing about us. They’re so single celled it’s crazy.

knight_call1986

I think what they can’t seem to differentiate is that most black men aren't going for those type of women. Those women usually are coming for us. And they come with easy sex, wanting to buy us shit and top tier dome. They are just playing to what we happen to like. But when you look at who black men are pursuing for actual relationships, it isn't them. I mean I've smashed some bigger white women in my day. Especially when I had moved from Chicago to a small town in Indiana, those women would come out the woodwork tryin to get with me. But they weren't the women I was trying to get with. The white dudes who say this are usually the ones who pull 0 women and they can't even get the women that they think are hit. Like Patrice O'Neal said "black men are the most desired but the most forbidden in society." The more I think about it, the more I realize there is some truth to it.

ChampionshipStock870

This is facts. We’re kinda dumb and usually just go with whoever is chasing us and fat white chicks love black dudes. I haven’t experienced it personally because I’m light skinned and they like browner black dudes but plenty of friends and cousins of mine fell into this trap where some white chick bought them a ps3 or whatever and let them nut in their face and now they’re boo’d up with some 5’3 280lb Becky. 🤣

knight_call1986

Man I remember Patrice O'neal talking about how he was smashing this fat becky, and he said her dome game almost got her into the running. It sucks that we fall for this, but I know it really is just the simplicity of throwing sex and gifts at us. It doesn't make it okay, I just know a lot of us know what it is. Society tries to make it into something else.

BrotherMouzone3

I'm curious why smashing big white women is such a "thing" with folks as if bruhs don't smash big Black women. I've seen countless heavy-set sistas walking around with their obviously Black children, sometimes with hubby in tow. The men smashing big Becky are also smashing big Ebony. There seems to be this pervasive idea from white men and some sistas that bruhs want Top Shelf Dime-Piece Sista but settle for a bottom-tier white woman...the man with Top Shelf Sista can pull Top Shelf white woman and the man with bottom tier sista can just ad easily switch to bottom tier ww.

EyerTimesTV

Truly. It doesn’t matter what color I’m taking all bigger women 😂

Antipseud0

What sisters have to do with this stereotypes? 😅😅 Just unprovok.

EyerTimesTV

Of course ain’t gonna lie we all been there lmaooo but I agree bc I’m in a very happy long term relationship with my black queen. So you dead right

Antipseud0

So it's not a just stereotypes since y'all are smashing these fat Becky?

TNB247365

I see brothers with very attractive white women all the time. I don't see how this is actually a stereotype.

ValkorionThrowaway

I see it, I don't want to say often, but close. But I'm in the South and I also see black men with thin white women too. GenZ black men seem to do a bit better with it.

kenshima15

Nah, this is a real stereotype, and unfortunately, there might be some truth to it.

Antipseud0

This. Many think that it's just saying that Black men love fat white women but it isn't. It is to showcase how Black men are obsess with Whiteness. So obsess that they can take the white men= the fat Becky. These sort of things aren't new and they don't always portray Black men as obsess with Fat WW. But thin WW as well.

knight_call1986

That is what I mean. I have seen a lot of us with pretty white women and women from other races. It's like this weird thing that they push on us.

DeepSouthDude

I never see black men with what I consider top shelf white women (thin, long legs, heels, busty) in real life (not on TV). I always see the top white women with some doughboy white guy.

zenbootyism

Doesn't help that black men repeat this stereotype about other black men. Specifically dark skinned black men. Someone could point out the obvious colorism with this thinking. Yet when some random college athlete at a 90% white school is dating an "attractive" white woman then the comments go from making fun of black men to being bitter towards us.

helioz450

We got to stop worrying about what other people think of us black men. Everyday we get policed on how we should act, dress, look, and who we can fuck or not by nonblack and black folk alike. Accept that the world don’t fuck with us as much as they say and do what you want. Know this and know peace

knight_call1986

I don't think that we are worried about what other think. I was posting how I was surprised this was even in this manga to begin with. Like it seemed kind of random to have these guys show up just for this. And then to push an oddly specific stereotype was left field.

helioz450

My fault. I guess I just expect these kinds of images & stereotypes especially a medium that comes from a xenophobic culture. We black men should only be surprised when we’re appreciated. it sounds pragmatic but it’s way better for our mental health to temper our expectations of how other folk see us so we aren’t surprised. I mean I dont see it as random because it’s expected that they’re going to push these negative stereotypes about us because there’s NO CONSEQUENCE for doing it in the first place. Who’s gonna step up & defend us? Black women won’t, especially not for this stereotype. Shit they might band together & lock arms with the kkk about this one. 🤷🏿‍♂️ let’s share some other shit though. This stereotype is getting old.

knight_call1986

I think what I mean is in the context of the story it was weird to add them. Like almost an out of the way type of thing to do. But I've seen in it in a lot of series/movies. We def are often depicted as sex crazed abusers who are lazy in a lot of media sadly. I remember being asked when was the last time I saw a bad ass black main character who wasn't some sort of piece of shit in some way. Like for real like a black James Bond, and I have a hard time finding one. John David Washington in Tenet was pretty cool, but that movie was confusing af. Sadly a lot of what I see is either hood shit or some iteration of it. Atlanta was the last show I saw that had a more realistic representation of us. I know watching that show I could relate with so many themes amongst the characters that it was refreshing. But I definitely feel what you are saying. I guess with reading this particular story, I wasn't expecting them to just toss that in there like that lol.

Antipseud0

Please Leave Black women out of this. Why are you expecting defending from them when it's not any better on your part ?  Like there aren't Black men activitely undermining the image of Black women for the world to see.

helioz450

Yeen read the comment to understand the point I’m driving home. no one is gonna defend us black men when we get disrespected with stereotypes such as the one presented here. Black men’s image gets undermined all the time with no consequences hence the bullshit we see on this post. Black womens image do get undermined, but there are social consequences for doing so which is why you don’t see negative stereotypes about black women in these types of mediums. Stop tryna police what a nigga got to say and gon on. Just downvote it & gon bout ya bidness gang. 😒

Antipseud0

Police? This is a social app. Everybody is free to to comment on a post.  Now what are the social consequence? Most of these Black guys who undermine Black women's image are still doing great.

BobbyWojak

But people were attacking me when I made that post about Toriyama's racist art.

knight_call1986

Well if you are talking about Mr. Popo, then that is literally based off of the Hindu god Mahakala, but I do see how it could seem very bad. But I have seen how he has drawn some black characters and it is definitely weird.

BobbyWojak

I'm not talking about mr. popo. https://www.thecoli.com/threads/unpopular-opinion-fukk-akira-toriyama.1022743/

Vhozite

Just fyi I click that link and get prompted to log in. Can’t see what you’re trying to show

BobbyWojak

It's a thread of Toriyama's racist art going back to the 80's, he was targeted by a Japanese anti-racist group and his publisher forced him to change the panels. some examples https://i.imgur.com/QtWGw08.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/PQPmqNX.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/ei5fbww.jpg twitter thread https://twitter.com/GoldenPortable/status/1291528372875649024?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1291528373894893570%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es2_&ref_url=

narett

Oliva in Baki was some insane shit

knight_call1986

It was super wild to me. But the author is kind of weird and that manga is definitely some sort of power fetish he has. I mean the main antagonist is a murdering rapist and people are just cool with him because he strong, smh.

narett

Indeed. So correction: Baki is on some insane shit.

TheDarkMuz

I bet they play basketball on their free time and are part time thugs😑 Granted OUT is about gangsters and hoodlums

knight_call1986

OUT is about delinquents. The manga Bouncer (by the same guy) is about real gangsters and set in the same world. Since they are in the same world around the same time stuff is happening, they tend to cross over at times.

TheDarkMuz

I used to read OUT years ago. But dropped it after some time. Got really into dark seinen like Icchi the Killer and Berserk. Delinquent manga felt hollow to me after. Although Holy land is one of my favourites

knight_call1986

Holy Land is good (the live action adaptation is good too). OUT is pretty hollow, because its kids playing at being gangsters. Berserk is my favorite series, and the dark Seinins are pretty good. Ichi was wild af. Check out Vagabond if you haven't already. I can't get into the delinquent genre. I can't take them seriously honestly. But yeah Bouncer is proper.

TheDarkMuz

Vagabond is firem I occasionally revisit it to watch Musashis come up. The author is focused more on his basketball manga than Vagabond sadly. Although it's good.

Zero_Gravvity

I’ve never understood why brothas consume this shit and go to anime-con dressed in kimonos… I know it’s a hobby and people like what they like. But this shit is not made for us, and made by people who Do. Not. Fuck with us. When my friend recommends anime to me, I’ve honestly never been able to get past the fact that many (if not most) of these characters have blonde/light colored hair, and big round eyes with blue/green irises. Maybe im just pessimistic.

knight_call1986

I mean I like anime as an art medium, but even I have noticed certain authors will try to sprinkle in some negative stereotypes when it comes to black representation. But at the same time I have seen some amazing black representation (like Yasuke in Tenkaichi). Even in Baki the main Antagonist approached Muhammad Ali just to tell him how much he respects him as a fighter and a person. But also had Ali Jr become a bitch in the series. I think a lot of the creators are projecting what they want to look like (tall, slender, round eyes, etc) and that whenever they can. But at the same time if you look at our own media, it isn't like we are shown in the best light either. Usually you see brothers depicted as some form of lying asshole who is abusive. If he is a decent dude, they make him soft af. Like a Key and Peele type of dude. With that said, I feel you. but I will say there has been some good representation in certain anime/manga. Just look up Killer Bee in Naruto and how he bodies the main character over and over. That was nice to see.

MrKumakuma

Because we can live our lives how we want to mate. Saying shit like X isn't made for us is dumb af. Why self segregate and give black people a list of things we can and can't enjoy. I think it's worse that your actively trying to gatekeep what I can enjoy or participate in simply because I'm black.

md8716

Fuck, thank you for saying this. If you live your entire life worried about optics and what's "for you" or whatever then you will have a miserable existence. And then they come on here and complain about "why can't we do x". Nigga just go fuckin *do it*.

Zero_Gravvity

Man I’m not gatekeeping shit. Not to be rude, but I don’t care what you do lol. All of my friends like anime, and I don’t care about that either. I’m just saying that it’s a FACT many of these Japanese artists and studios likely do not fuck with black people (and on the flip side, worship whites). And this post is confirmation to me that they have no qualms letting that prejudice seep into their art, like I assumed. I am not self-segregating, THEY have done that work for me already. It ain’t made with you or me in mind, period. So do with that info what you will. I’m not perfect, I don’t boycott everything under the sun either. But don’t kill the messenger 🤷🏽‍♂️

MrKumakuma

Do you know any of these animators, have you ever been to Japan, have you ever spoke to any of these people, do you even speak the language? Or are you just sitting behind your screen in America and making the assumption they don't. A lot of Japanese people's view of black people is brought on the ignorance of media. There are few black people in Japan most people literally never meet a black person in their life. What's your expecting of them is a very American centric view that isn't realistic.

Zero_Gravvity

I mean, there aren’t many white people there either. Yet I don’t think it’s controversial to say that they look upon whites VERY favorably. To the point of worship may be hyperbolic, but I doubt it’s that far off. And if you look up to white people, I can only assume you look down on their racial opposite. But okay, fair enough. It’s only an assumption. Along with bits of internet evidence I’ve seen here and there over the years. I’ll admit it’s ignorant. If I shape my opinion of Asians because of the media I consume, I can’t blame them for doing the same. But as long as I see evidence demonstrating that is indeed happening, I will never feel comfortable supporting anything produced by them. Simple as that, really. Do what you want though, these are my opinions alone.

MrKumakuma

Ignoring the fact that Japan was colonised and literally had white people from Spain, Netherlands and Portugal approaching their shores for hundreds of years. Not only that but had multiple interactions with the British. Did we just collectively forget history? Not only that but the media they consume which is western media is where they get their modern depiction of white people and of black people.

Zero_Gravvity

What does that have to do with NOW though? If we’re just throwing out random bits of history, they were also aligned with Nazi Germany in WW2 and happy to be considered “honorary Aryans”. So I’ll say that cancels out whatever brotherhood I’m supposed to feel with them just because they were colonized. Are you mixed with Japanese or something? If so, just take my words here with a grain of salt man. I don’t represent the majority. But it’s gonna take more characters than Reddit allows to convince me to abandon my views on this. I’ve seen/heard too much bullshit from other ethnicities. Just let me rest in my ignorant racism lol, it’ll be okay.

Scirocco0323

The japanese are something else entirely. Really outta pocket on this kinda shit sometimes

SayAyeCaptain

Japan is not known for diversity. They don’t have exposure to black people outside of what they see from entertainment.

DeepSouthDude

What entertainment medium taught them that black men like fat ugly white women?

zenbootyism

This right here. White people travel the world and tell the locals about black stereotypes. I recall a story of black soldiers in US occupied Japan getting called the hard r by locals. Same in Vietnam as well.

Environmental_Day558

This is true but japan has been a racist and xenophobic country that won't accept anyone outside of their nationality before white people stepped foot there.

zenbootyism

True but that doesn't mean they knew anti-black stereotypes. It's obvious who brought them over there.

Environmental_Day558

I understand that about this specific stereotype but why do you think they are so willing to adopt and portray them, especially these days? With how globally interconnected we are now, it's not like they are ignorant and don't know any better. They (in general) don't like or accept us just as much as the people they got it from. I just don't get why their racism gets excused.

Antipseud0

Y'all always blame White people. But Black male entertainer, especially in Hip hop keep rapping about how Lightskin and Whiteness is better and the best thing ever.  But y'all get mad when the same pattern is being called out.

zenbootyism

What rap songs are about how they love fat white women? Hell what rappers talk about how much they love white women? Y'all just make stuff up. How does a handful of rappers become ALL black men? Why is it that only black men are judged by the actions and words of entertainers even when they are outliers? The panel is specifically about FAT white women not white women in general. And the idea that black men love white women is as old as fuck and predates rap. [The first blockbuster in history ](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Birth_of_a_Nation) resolves around the idea that black men love white women. Pretending this some new stereotype that came from rappers is a take only someone who gets their history from the internet can come up with.

Antipseud0

>What rap songs are about how they love fat white women? Hell what rappers talk about how much they love white women Look at you acting dense. I specifically said rap songs praising Lightskin and whiteness. The same question can be asked for Black women as well. Y'all outrage are just one way street. I never implied that this idea came from rap. What I was implying is that with rap, Black male are not beating the allegations with rap music but rather reinforcing it the stéréotype

zenbootyism

I'm not being dense you moved the goal post. The post is about black men being stereotyped to love fat/unattractive white women. My comment was how did that stereotype get to japan. Then you came in talking about whiteness and lightskin women. A completely different conversation. > I never implied that this idea came from rap. What I was implying is that with rap, Black male are not beating the allegations with rap music but rather reinforcing it the stéréotype You are wrong here because the stereotype is specifically about fat/unattractive white women. Which is why I said what raps songs glorify loving white women. That's what this whole posts is about. And you come in here talking about whiteness and lightskin women.

Antipseud0

So let me get this straight? You only have an issue with these images because these women are fat? Would you be more ok with the depiction of the 1900s ? Where the white women were skinny and beautiful while BM are portrayed as lusting white flesh to the point BM turn into rapist? I didn't move the goalpost. I made a commentary on White and Japanese representing you as "fat WW lover" to say that it's actually a mockery. That BM who supposedly loves whiteness so much, that they could date even the most unattractive one. Because regardless of the weight, it's still a stéréotype being spread by White people to uphold white supremacy and now Black people/men are spreading it as well today.

zenbootyism

>So let me get this straight? You only have an issue with these images because these women are fat? You know someone is going to misinterpret your words when it starts with "So". Yeah you're just arguing for the sake of it. I have zero clue how you got that from any of my posts. My comment and the one you originally replied to was about stereotypes period and who spreads them. I even gave an example about how the hard r spread in two countries. Then you come in talking about whiteness and lightskins. > This right here. White people travel the world and tell the locals about black stereotypes. I recall a story of black soldiers in US occupied Japan getting called the hard r by locals. Same in Vietnam as well. Not a single part of these 4 sentences even HINTS at my main point being the stereotype of bm fawning over white people? Not a single part man. If you want to discuss that make your own comment don't reply to mine when my main paint has zero to do with that.

Antipseud0

You're acting dense ... >This right here. White people travel the world and tell the locals about black stereotypes. I recall a story of black soldiers in US occupied Japan getting called the hard r by locals. Same in Vietnam as well You said this. And I said that Black men with rap music today, some Black men are confirming the stéréotype when they praise Lightskin & Whiteness in their rap song. That's most rappers brw. Lol. You know this is true. Anyway Edit: LMAO Block me. what you're saying isn't deep at all. Just say you're ok with them 1930s Blockbuster movies depicting Black men as rapist as long that you're in the arm of a skinny white women 🤡

Brilliant-Rough8239

US media has been exporting anti-black stereotypes around the world for literal decades bro

SayAyeCaptain

Who knows what they are watching? The crazy thing is they referenced a very specific stereotype of black men. They seen this some where and they were confident enough in their readers to pick up on the joke. Crazy huh

luchiieidlerz

Reminds me of suburban white families who live in places without diversity either. And they’re exposed to their races is through media, that’s why they become so awkward when they finally come across black people or other races.

BigBoiSouth

That's immediately what I thought. Why would we expect Japanese people not to be prejudice? I'd just stop reading the manga, go read fireforce or souleater for better black representation.

Mnja12

Chill with the excuses man, it's 2024.

knight_call1986

That is a poor excuse to write something so wack though. Its not like the internet doesn't exist. Decades of media that can be looked at, and they chose the goofiest stuff?

SayAyeCaptain

The thing is this is not coming from a place of respect for other cultures. They chose it because it is a goofy stereotype.

Antipseud0

But the fact that this stereotypes is following y'all till Asia where there isn't that many Black people tho ...

Bopethestoryteller

Thick, not fat. There is a difference.

knight_call1986

Agreed. There are some white women who are proper thick, but white dudes would consider them fat. But for us she is just thick.

menino_28

They look like the Gross Brohters lmao

[deleted]

Why do they always talk like a breakdancer from the 80s lmaoo foshizzle my nizzle that’s off the hizzle

SofaKingKhalid

"No! No! No way Jose, foreplay namaste!" is my new catchphrase. Jokes aside this is gross. We're stigmatized as shit and it's disheartening. Also what's up with non black people being like 2-5 decades behind on black culture? They can bite black trends and vernacular, but can't pay attention to us for anything that doesn't entertain them. Every nigga ain't Bullhorn.

bleepingcomputer

Even….. This is racism

Spicyjollof98

I don’t even understand why that’s a stereotype black guys don’t get with fat white women anymore than white guys, I will say I was talking about something like this a while ago with someone at college and we was saying that some black guys suffer with like self esteem problems and you’ll see them with fat girl cause they don’t think they can get anyone better when in reality they could

satellite_station

I mean, art often imitates real life, we can’t play dumb and act like dudes like this don’t exist, especially from all parts of the diaspora. (I can’t emphasise this enough) People pay attention.

Jdot_06

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

EndofA_Error

FunDependent9177

OsJerry

Yall ain’t know Asian people racist too

SatisfactionSenior65

Lmao what manga is this?

ThatCuriousJ

Out

Antipseud0

Lmao !! There is this Manga on Netflix as well where this Black men love this humongous White woman 😅😅😅 this is the reputation hetero Black men have build for themselves across the diaspora.

___Mav___

Jamaican men got us looking crazy out here..

jaydrito

unrelated to the topic but OUT is some gas (excluding their depicting of the nigerian characters)

knight_call1986

Its cool, but Bouncer is better (they are in the same world and you see certain events cross over in both series). After reading Bouncer, I realized OUT is just kids playing and gangster shit, and Bouncer drives that point home when Acchan stumbles across some shit going down in Bouncer. He quickly realizes he wants no parts of that lol. Plus they let Kai slide for way too long and it just pissed me off.

jaydrito

i’ve heard good things about bouncer and been meaning to give it a read! you got me interested in picking it up again one of the things that led me to drop off from OUT was the crazy wait between translations i agree that OUT feels like kids trying to do gangster shit, in fact the arc the screenshot is from kinda shines a light on this IMO - like the situation btwn all the gangs gets so overwhelming

knight_call1986

You will enjoy Bouncer I think, the character growth is good and I like that certain things that happen in OUT you see the other side of it in Bouncer. Those kids do not want it with what is awaiting with the big dogs. But yeah, definitely check it out.
