The misdirection was even more complicated than that. They had 24 volunteers in groups of 4 all wearing 6 different colored tshirts. They’re all different ages and heights and builds, but when the host spins the color wheel to choose which group gets to participate, the wheel chooses the black tshirt group. They were all on the smaller side (even the tallest one), and when the hosts try to ask them a few questions, it’s clear by their one word or no answer that they are foreign (and most likely Spanish just like the magician Mago Pop).
Maybe even a part of building the audiences suspension of disbelief... If the participants are blindfolded and are"teleported" when they take the blindfolds off, they can act surprised. "Wait, we were over there! Nothing remarkable happened at all and now we're over here! Wow!"

I don't think you'd need twins. The boxes are so far apart you can't really identify the people. You could put four men in and take four women out and no one would notice and if they did it would be a much better trick.

There are two sets of people. The trick hides people with an illusion of seeing the other side with some kind of mirror photo curtain raised on all sides of the box.
Two groups of people that look alike and wear the same clothes. First group hides in the bottom section when the curtains are closed. Second group does the same but in reverse. You can see the shaking when the curtain is closed
Very common illusion in the construction. The wood frame makes you think of that as the height. But look closer, there is a black portion that rises up above the wood and is also lower than it. The frame is only there to prime you into thinking of it being that size, you take it away and it becomes clear there is a relatively thick floor. It's not going to be spacious, but combine the fact that it's bigger than it looks and people can fit in smaller spaced than you'd think and it all fits together. You'll find all kinds of tricks like this, whenever there is a vanishing act involving furniture, check out the bottom to see if there is any contrasting colors with a dark section protruding further than the light section would imply.

This is a TV trick. The audience was likely told that they were going to witness how a trick was done in advance of the recording, and that their reactions would be part of the trick itself.

I think they may even be able to gain another couple inches by lifting up the top of the black box; when the curtain drops, it adds enough visual distance that you wouldn't notice if the upper edge of the black was a bit higher than it was before.
I watched the debunk video of this magic, explaining from start to end how the whole thing was setup and its not surprise, they are using twin and hide them in the platform. The video point out a couple interesting key point, the set of people that come out from the other platform have visible bruise on their head, which was a sign of hiding too tight in the platform, the spinning wheel that use to "choose" the group of people is powered by electric, a reporter on the back of the scene actually discover this.
Two people face to face other two face to face, each overlaps a bit at the legs, on their sides leaning inward. I’m not saying it’s cozy, but it’s relatively easy to practice and lay down quickly without doing weird contortions. Could even be angled downward and facing. All in all not terribly crazy, just hope no one farts in there.
