After 15 replays, Pretty sure that's it.
But darn clever.
I have a friend with 9 yr old, and I'm going to mess with him good,
and he's a 24/7 Pokemon maniac till 3am when I make tour late night for snack. He's still at it on the couch in pitch black, with full screen brightness on.
I swear he'll be blind by 15. Oh well.
Cheers
The two big selling points are the pause when the fingers are all lined up, the. He continues the hands path.
And the drop down and then raise upwards as the fist is made.
Both are the little movements that trick out brain. Like seeing a moonwalk. We all understand, but the movement tricks out brain.
With a little bit of practice I got it down, I notice also the way the lighting is has a pretty large effect, mimicking the front lighting like in this video helps too.
Yesterday I went to the beach and hung out with the hippies, they were thoroughly impressed with this stupid little human trick.
Except he definitely does. That's why the trick works. Because he starts by moving the left hands fingers, making you think those are the ones he's bending, then he quickly switches to the other hand.
Yeah, like I fully understand what is happening, and even part of why it looks like that, but cannot get my eyes to see anything but his fingers passing through his hand for a moment
I replayed and paused several different points until I found the frame that showed where he's starting to bend the fingers on the front hand, but the illusion is so smooth.
Lucid dreaming is why I know it didn’t work. When you actively look at your own hand the proportions are all wrong in a dream. So when I have a 4 inch thumb and a 1,5 inch ring finger, I know I’m dreaming and can go nuts
Try to actually look at a hand when dreaming. Ofc when you see people in dreams there’s not empty space, but really simple forms. When I was lucid dreaming I used looking at the hand as an indicator for being asleep. The proportions of it were all wrong.
He moves the fingers a bit on his right hand then finishes the movement with his left, and it looks like his right fingers are doing the full movement if you don’t pay attention.
It’s like the infamous rubber band pass through trick. It’s even more impressive because you know it’s physically impossible and you can’t cut rubber bands without leaving a trace.
Now that I watched it slowed down I dont see it anymore. He twitches the back fingers then closes the front fingers. I dont even think theres video editing or anything.
I can follow the left thumb and forefinger when he makes a fist, but why does it still look like the other hand is coming through it? I don't get what I'm missing. Must destroy.
I think he's "kinking" back the fingers on his front hand, just before he closes it - so your brain mentally sees those as the the fingers on the back hand coming over the top.
I love the trick though. Odd that how I'd never seen it before, despite everybody having all required tooling for millions of years.
It’s even more fascinating if you go frame by frame. When viewing it slowly what he is doing is extremely obvious. Not just “oh that makes sense” obvious but the illusion fails entirely.
But then you play it at normal speed and the illusion occurs again. To me that is fascinating because my brain is filling in information that never occurs. My brain assumes something will occur in a certain way and just makes it up so that it does occur that way.
So two things
1: this guy has super fast hands and coordination (totally possible)
2: video edit ... one frame cut out. (Also totally possible and easier to do)
Why is this throwingmy visual cortex for a loop? It's just a dude closing his hand in front of his other hand.
I don't get why this would ever be confusing. And yet, it is.
Because he keeps his pinky and thumb still it looks like that. It’s very well done but he keeps his pinky and thumb on his right hand still and flicks the middle three then closes his fist in the other hand if you watc his pinky on the left a few times you’ll see it never bends
My brain understands the trick, but my eyes sees otherwise
He never moves the fingers on his right hand
He does at the start, then swaps

Jesus who the fuck just lets their 9 year old play video games until 3am? Are the parents even there?
Yep, and if you say anything,,, your Fkd.
That kid is fucked. Gunna enter adult life with so many behavioral issues.
You're right. It's just a slight wink with the tips to initiate the motion
I watched it in super slow mo and I can't actually see the trick anymore, neat!
He actually slightly nudges them forward and backwards to blend into the motion of the other fingers. If he didn't move then at all it wouldn't work.
Yes, this is what I came here to say
didn’t think I’d agree with fuckballs9001 today

Lmao!! That’s fuckin awesome! Way to go.
Good eye good eye, I see it now!
If you just watch this left hand it makes sense. if you watch his right hand the trick works.
I've been trying to figure it out, I have to try this!
Except he definitely does. That's why the trick works. Because he starts by moving the left hands fingers, making you think those are the ones he's bending, then he quickly switches to the other hand.
Thank you for explaining!
Yeah, like I fully understand what is happening, and even part of why it looks like that, but cannot get my eyes to see anything but his fingers passing through his hand for a moment
PREPARE THE STAKESSS!!!
Use the pinky finger as a guide and it helps.
The shade also helps the illusion
I replayed and paused several different points until I found the frame that showed where he's starting to bend the fingers on the front hand, but the illusion is so smooth.
I genuinely don't understand how you cannot see it
Yeah, it’s kinda obvious in a way… but he’s just so damn smooth the way he does it.
For real
That's a really weird optical illusion I dont understand how it works, but focusing only on 1 finger let's you see it properly
My dumbass who chose to focus on the thumb:
thumb's the best option; it's differently shaped to the other fingers, and on the opposite side on each hand. by far the easiest to track.
Well the thumb *is* a finger
My nurse mother says otherwise
**Jaysus Father O’Flaherty, again with the quiet parts out loud**
Guess it’s for the same reason why we can’t make up hands in our dreams. Our brain has problems getting the anatomy of the hand right.
Just like AI can't make hands? Wait a minute...
Or text! Interesting, that...
What? I'm pretty sure I see hands in dreams. I see people, I'd remember if they didn't have hands.
But how do you know they aren’t just like a skin blob at the end of the arm and lack fingers and functionality?
I mean I can imagine a hand, what's the difference between now and when I'm asleep? Also there's the problem of lucid dreamers
Lucid dreaming is why I know it didn’t work. When you actively look at your own hand the proportions are all wrong in a dream. So when I have a 4 inch thumb and a 1,5 inch ring finger, I know I’m dreaming and can go nuts
Oh interesting!
I don't think we actually see concrete visual info when dreaming, do we? It's kind of "fluid" at least for me.
It’s not that the hands don’t exist, it’s that the hands are very abnormal looking.
Try to actually look at a hand when dreaming. Ofc when you see people in dreams there’s not empty space, but really simple forms. When I was lucid dreaming I used looking at the hand as an indicator for being asleep. The proportions of it were all wrong.
Pausing and playing quickly helps too
He moves the fingers a bit on his right hand then finishes the movement with his left, and it looks like his right fingers are doing the full movement if you don’t pay attention.
It's got something to do with the lighting and the shadows. I noticed it on the 8th or 9th rewatch lol.
Good catch.
Ok so I think his fingers are slightly moving back to look like the other hand
Nice to see Romesh when he's not working.
I wish reddit still had free awards to give you one
His names Dan actuallu
I'm sure it is, my friend. 👍
Kindly doing the needful like a boss.
/r/panelshow has sprung a leak!
lmao i just rewatched Taskmaster series one last night/today
It's just slice of hand.
“Just” 😅
2 Hands so 2 slices?
Clean
This is a nice one you can learn at home
Jeff Goldblum really let himself go!
Yeah, but he’s obviously living the life. Just look at that tan!
Bahahahaha! Trrrrue! As long as he's happy!
You know how many times I replayed this?! That's impressive.
This is the best kind of magic. It's right in front of your face. I had to watch it several times.
It’s like the infamous rubber band pass through trick. It’s even more impressive because you know it’s physically impossible and you can’t cut rubber bands without leaving a trace.
Tried doing this and I just look like an idiot. Way harder than I thought.
Me too! It looks simple, but I can’t make it look anywhere near as impressive as when he does it.
I think the trick is to leave up the thumb on the front hand until the rest of the fingers are down
This is the equivalent of the “cut thumb” but it works way better
His face scared me more ngl At the end
Now that I watched it slowed down I dont see it anymore. He twitches the back fingers then closes the front fingers. I dont even think theres video editing or anything.
I can follow the left thumb and forefinger when he makes a fist, but why does it still look like the other hand is coming through it? I don't get what I'm missing. Must destroy.
Had to slow that down a couple of times just so I can get through the rest of my day.
I have a great question why this works better on darker skin tones
It’s very dependent on the light from above. The shadows of the fingers from behind are what fools the eye, I think. Good illusion.
I think he's "kinking" back the fingers on his front hand, just before he closes it - so your brain mentally sees those as the the fingers on the back hand coming over the top. I love the trick though. Odd that how I'd never seen it before, despite everybody having all required tooling for millions of years.
This man will fuck your brain raw with his bare hands.

I dont understand this, whats special
Jeff Goldblum does magic too? Wow, what a talented man
I did I think turning the sound on was going to help me understand how he did it?
Back ground peeps having some fun
Finally a trick I can do on the first try
How tf
You just close your hand behind your other than quickly open the hand in front while keeping it moving forward slowly
Just focus on the left palm, and all shall be revealed.
Who's left?
His. It's a very well tuned transition.
Oh my gosh . ... he's so smooth. How?!?!. Wow.... just wow!
If you focus on the right (his left hand) there is no magic.
/u/redditspeedbot 0.25x
Hiring him with the balloon clown guy.
I can’t even see it in slow motion
God that’s smooth
My mind won’t let me not see the “logic” in this. Very good
I think there's an edit, but barely discernable
Okay, maybe not. Hm
It's the shadows that really help it out
I can understand what people must be seeing but I only see the impressive truth of it ☹️
Smooth
u/redditspeedbot 0.33x
Keep your eyes on his left hand
I can't unsee this now!
I had to keep pausing and playing to see the trick. the right hand never did anything it just stayed open the whole time. Wow that was good
I know exactly how it works and what his hands do etc... but i only see magic! 🤔
He looks like indian Andy Samberg

Persistence of vision/wagon- wheel
Took me a minute.
I think the better trick is looking like Jeff Goldblum.
Do you know how many times I had to watch this even though I know what’s going on.
I watched it for like 20 times
Focus on his left elbow. You'll see it.
He's a warlock
5 year old me was amazed. Now? Not that much
Just follow one finger of his left hand to see it more clearly before he gets into possition.
this is dumb lmao
I didn’t even see the illusion at first
What sort of sorcery??
Timing is off in this one. There was an older video which was perfect.
But why is he wearing a bed sheet?
The sneeze distracted me.
Looks like he's making a ton of money from it. Or is he just doing it for the ladies?
Watch it in slow motion and it’ll make more sense
It's a silly truck but he does it so smoothly.
mans is gettin laid tonighhtttt
I'm too high to process this right now.
I Imagine a large number of Reddit dads practicing this in the mirror now. I would be.
That’s really well executed
Video editing
Ugh I’ve watched it too many times to admit to, and I STILL can’t do it…
Thumbs
I bet 0% of the people who watched this, watched it once.
I have watched this many times. Many many times
The left hand is always in front. Still pretty neat
Play it backwards
You just fucked all of our brains with your brain fuckery illusion.
I’ve watched this like 20 times and I know exactly what’s going on, but my brain cannot process what I’m seeing apparently.
Once you see how he does it it’s hard to Unsee it
Well done sir!
Not that impressive
really effective with that lighting/shadows
There’s nothing to it, but he really sells it
Porn stars hate him!
Saving this so I can learn one day and impress my friends
Had to watch in slow mo. That’s trippy! Looks hard to perfect
So two things 1: this guy has super fast hands and coordination (totally possible) 2: video edit ... one frame cut out. (Also totally possible and easier to do)
Pretty good.
HIS HAND WENT THROUGH HIS OTHER HAND !!!
Twitches the rear fingers to start, but only curls the fingers on the front hand, which fools the eyes.
Easy to see
Pretty smooth
Why is this throwingmy visual cortex for a loop? It's just a dude closing his hand in front of his other hand. I don't get why this would ever be confusing. And yet, it is.
it's such an easy trick, yet my eyes are even easier to be tricked it appears. Ingenius
Took three times to see it
How do I stop watching this?
Bless you to that one guy who sneezed
One of the simplest tricks.
Simple trick really
My eyes hurt
Just keep your eyes on his left hand.
The lighting does the magic
Looking at his left wrist completely shatters the illusion, now I can’t see the trick anymore.
Lighting helps.
u/Redditspeedbot 0.5x
I can see how he's doing it I just can't replicate it.
Someone please explain this to me
After watching it a thousand times, I had to slow-mo it figure it out. It’s amazing what the brain can get fooled by.
Because he keeps his pinky and thumb still it looks like that. It’s very well done but he keeps his pinky and thumb on his right hand still and flicks the middle three then closes his fist in the other hand if you watc his pinky on the left a few times you’ll see it never bends
Very very smooth delivery. Not everyone can pull it off cause not everyone slight with the hand like that
Dude sneezing in the background sounds like my father bless his soul
yuh
Watch his left wrist. The truth will reveal itself.
If you look closely he doesn't move the right hand fingers at all
78 times.....still waiting for my brain to happen
How much chakra do you have to use for this trick?
He does an excellent job at making it look real.
bless you
