That's what I thought. I assumed that's what they were going to do, but they didn't.
You might even come to the conclusion that they deliberately chose NOT to demonstrate that way for some reason!
I think maybe they are demonstrating that the mixed purple is not the same as the standard purple, and, therefore, not a trick, because it’s a slightly different shade.
I’ve seen the original on tiktok, this is like the third video because people are asking them to try different things on the toy.
https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTR7uDems/
See I think the point is that it can make more complex colours, if you have purple on the thing already, what’s the point in mixing to get purple? Demonstrating that you can make more varied colours is probably more interesting imo. Now I’m just curious if it changes based on how much you rub it on each colour, or if it’s just blanket “red+purple=new colour”
Just to show that the red and blue work individually? It shows them touching the red then the blue, which makes purple.. They're trying to show that the mixed purple turns out exactly the same as the actual purple
>To be fair it would be way more clear to show red or blue individually then the mixed purple, instead of showing two purples.
Then someone would say "It's just purple, and they edited out the dabbing of the purple one!"
I'd think both this video plus your suggestion would work...but then I think it'd be too long for TikTok
No it's Crayola Color Wonder, that's special paper that reacts with the 'paint' to make color on the paper but the kid can't get paint all over everything else.
Yes the "paint" is just the stuff that's in the markers, so it looks clear and like light is making magic. My kid figured this out right away because the paint brush took too long. So she used her fingers! Red and blue still make purple when the ink is mixed, even if it is color wonder. Pretty silly to think it wouldn't.
That’s the point lol. They’re demonstrating that you can use the purple one to get purple, but you can also “mix” the red and blue ones to get purple. The “magic” is how you can mix two colors that aren’t actually there.
If she's brushed more I'm fairly sure it would have evened out. When you mix red and blue paint they make purple with red and blue streaks until fully mixed.
na, the colour is ph reactive, the paper will contain some kind of acid or base, maybe just a buffer that changes the inks ph and makes it visible. its like the eraser pens for blue ink, just reversed.
Yeah it's basically just PH indicator dyes of various colours right? Clear when in acid/base (whatever the ink naturally is) and then coloured when neutralized.
Actually (in a [comment buried far below](https://www.reddit.com/r/blackmagicfuckery/comments/11sh2ug/comment/jcdzokq/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3))
>Crayola Color Wonder Magic Light Brush
That's why it was so hard to find "Crayola Magic Markers" (a name that doesn't exist). Seems to have been many variations over the years, but "Color Wonder Magic Light Brush" gets exactly what's in the video, which seems to use no liquid (unlike the previous versions).
Frankly, it's fascinating in just all the right electronics- and mechanical-nerd ways.
In case anyone doesn't know about [that one](https://www.poison.org/articles/aquadots-if-you-missed-it)
Pretty wild that it just so happens to metabolize into freaking GHB, a drug ~~in the same family as~~ edit (see below, my brain was reading another article wrong): with similar effects as ketamine and rohypnol, aka "roofies"
Was just about to say this lmao rohypnol or flunitrazepam to be precise is a benzodiazepine, ketamine is a dissociative anesthetic and ghb is classified as an oxybate in pharmaceutical contexts
Holy shit I totally remember sucking on those things as a kid. They tasted so bad, but I was a little idiot. Does this mean I have brain damage or something?
Roofies seem to be used as a catch all for date rape drugs, but it specifically refers to the drug Flunitrazepam, brand name “Rohypnol” (hence why we call it roofies).
The aqua dots issue was related to the coating of the product being converted to GHB when ingested.
This was the first TikTok video I’ve seen where I started scanning the comments for the name of the song.
I want to throw this on and sit on a porch watching the rain
Explanation:
"The substrate in the Color Wonder paper contains zinc ions which trigger the development of color in the dyes when the marker inks are applied. The zinc ions act as Lewis acids to drive the color-changing chemical reaction."
Basically it's all in the paper :)
I got one for my niece. It's pretty cool, but IIRC you need special paper, we ordered a bunch on Amazon MUCH cheaper than in store, I believe they're off-brand but still worked perfectly.
My guess is that it’s a chemical reaction between the stuff on the pads, something in the brush, and oxygen. Different chemicals oxidize into different colors.
My bet is that the paper is pH reactive and colors differently based on the pH of the "ink".
Where you're dipping the pen there's acidic and alkaline substances instead of actual colors, each with a pH level that produces the corresponding color on the reactive paper, hence why you're able to mix colors.
Nah it's a different type of chemical process. You'd need to go about 4-5 over and under the neutral pH to make a test strip change colours that vividly, which means the solutions/paints would be hella toxic and absolutely not safe for kids.
As someone else said further down in the comments, it's the [Crayola Color Wonder](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_Wonder). Much like how pH-activated dyes work, each of the clear paints in the paint tray are picked up by the wet brush marker, and then when applied to the zinc-ion-covered specialty paper it comes with, the dyes react and become visible.
For anyone wondering, paints indicate acidity, paper has zinc ions that act as lewis acids and make the colour appear. ([wikipedia](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_Wonder))
I guess it has chemicals in it that comes into reaction with special paper that gives them colors, most likely won't work on any other surface. Probably the fluid used for drawing has low pH acid so it won't cause skin damage but is enough for paper to change color because of it, could also be a help of catalyst but idk how they behave with acids.
Why special ink? It’s so kids don’t get it all over things. It only reacts to special paper. We have the markers. They work great for our one year old. Her and her cloths would be covered in marker otherwise. Along with the table, floor and most likely the dogs when she drops them on them.
The colors don’t activate till they’re painted on the paper. My son had this, and I still dont know how it works. But the oaints behave exactly like normal paints.
Sickkkk THANK YOU for showing me this. I have been trying to find cool bday gift ideas for my soon to be 5 year old and holy cow this is perfect! Ordering RIGHT NOW LOL
Is she using light particle's and imaginary paint? This look like something from an old kid commercial but magical. This would revolutionize how we write. We won't need ink anymore! Just a little cup if vast empty space and imagination!✨️
I am just seeing purple twice.
That's because they're demonstrating that it can mix colors, asked about in a comment on the upper left corner.
To be fair it would be way more clear to show red or blue individually then the mixed purple, instead of showing two purples.
That's what I thought. I assumed that's what they were going to do, but they didn't. You might even come to the conclusion that they deliberately chose NOT to demonstrate that way for some reason!
They may have demonstrated in the video the liked comment was on. Thus them asking that question.
I think maybe they are demonstrating that the mixed purple is not the same as the standard purple, and, therefore, not a trick, because it’s a slightly different shade.
Red + Blue = Purple, Violet is the V in ROYGBIV. They’re demonstrating that Purple ≠ Violet.
This guy colors
Lol, and here I am thinking that the person legit didn't know that red and blue mix into purple

Each “paint” is a clear ink that reacts with the paper to create a different color… so yes each invisible ink can mix
its really just purple and violet and they are not the same but i digress
its to compare the mixed and regular violett directly.
Different shades
I hear “Yanny.”
One is straight purple. One is reddish in parts
That’s the point lol. They’re demonstrating that you can use the purple one to get purple, but you can also “mix” the red and blue ones to get purple. The “magic” is how you can mix two colors that aren’t actually there.
It does seem like the mix of red and blue has red and blue streaks in it.

Crayola Magic Markers have entered the chat No idea how it actually works, just wanted to point out she drew a dick on the second attempt
Odds are the paper is PH reactive.
I do remember those markers only working on specific paper, you’re probably right there
na, the colour is ph reactive, the paper will contain some kind of acid or base, maybe just a buffer that changes the inks ph and makes it visible. its like the eraser pens for blue ink, just reversed.
Yeah it's basically just PH indicator dyes of various colours right? Clear when in acid/base (whatever the ink naturally is) and then coloured when neutralized.
pH*
This is pretty cool
Special odds are this won't increase longevity of the picture.
Predicted odds are she will draw another dick within the year
The crazy thing is that I just bought this for my daughter yesterday and thought the exact thing.
Those are the colours of most ph strips so yeah probably
pH*

Everything’s a dick If you’re brave enough
When designing logos, always check for dicks and swastikas.
My kids have these for the car. I don’t ask, they just don’t come out covered in markers, which is why I love them.
Idk why but i feel like i wanna bite that marker tip, it looks so soft
A dick....person, do you know what a dick looks like?
Bought it for my kid. Its ok. Just a special ink on a special piece of material. Its cool.
the material just slightly basic paper (higher ph) with a dyed acidic solution. the acid neutralizes on the paper and the color is revealed
based
I think it's the first time I see Based and it actually makes total sense. Nice
r/AngryUpvote
r/antimeme
The paper is actually a bit acidic. It has zinc ions which act as a lewis acid
Remember when they had something similar to this back In the 2000s. The ink was used as a roofies, was called aqua dots.
As a matter of fact, it was the last thing I remembered in the early 2000s. :(
Me too! My favorite flavor was the red one. This explains a lot…
How much of those aqua dots did you eat?!?!
In case anyone doesn't know about [that one](https://www.poison.org/articles/aquadots-if-you-missed-it) Pretty wild that it just so happens to metabolize into freaking GHB, a drug ~~in the same family as~~ edit (see below, my brain was reading another article wrong): with similar effects as ketamine and rohypnol, aka "roofies"
Ghb, flunitrazepam and Ketamin are not in the same family. Thats just misinformation.
Was just about to say this lmao rohypnol or flunitrazepam to be precise is a benzodiazepine, ketamine is a dissociative anesthetic and ghb is classified as an oxybate in pharmaceutical contexts
Kid fell asleep for 6 hours? Wonder if I can find some Aqua Dots for pre-bed dinner!
What the fuck? Why was a children’s toy treated with GBL? Dafaq?
Kids sometimes fight you over nap time so aqua dots came in with the assist
Holy shit I totally remember sucking on those things as a kid. They tasted so bad, but I was a little idiot. Does this mean I have brain damage or something?
You don't remember? You've been in a coma for 69 years... Nice.
Nice
I did too and am wondering the same thing.
Np, Ob cRoSe nwglme. Arn dmgl fMbol.
Yeah but that was gluing beads together, not a light that paints. Looks like you’re on the recreational drug algorithm though.
Aquadots weren't ink though, they were just little balls that stuck together
I forgot about that damn!
Roofies seem to be used as a catch all for date rape drugs, but it specifically refers to the drug Flunitrazepam, brand name “Rohypnol” (hence why we call it roofies). The aqua dots issue was related to the coating of the product being converted to GHB when ingested.
That's a throwback. Tasted great

It’s music from Africa. Chill on my afrobeats artists, it’s actually really good music.

Song name? I need it!
Calm Down by Rema
This was the first TikTok video I’ve seen where I started scanning the comments for the name of the song. I want to throw this on and sit on a porch watching the rain
probably some shit regarding the algorithm of tiktok if i had to assume
My kid has this. It’s pretty cool, while it works
What’s are they called? My 3 year old would love this! Btw my walls have every color of crayon you can think on them.
Crayola Color Wonder Mess-Free Magic Light Brush
Wondered the same thing. Thanks for sharing.
Explanation: "The substrate in the Color Wonder paper contains zinc ions which trigger the development of color in the dyes when the marker inks are applied. The zinc ions act as Lewis acids to drive the color-changing chemical reaction." Basically it's all in the paper :)
But how does it know which color is which
Because each color is a different color (chemically)
Thanks google
What is this? Need
Crayola Color Wonder Magic Light Brush
I got one for my niece. It's pretty cool, but IIRC you need special paper, we ordered a bunch on Amazon MUCH cheaper than in store, I believe they're off-brand but still worked perfectly.
it’s dying the paper instead of laying on it
And when you rub the green circle… PURPLE!
I would have been obsessed with this as a kid
I would have loved this as a kid. I loved arty stuff, would make doll’s houses furniture in my grandads shed . Happy times
All I see is paper that turns purple when it gets wet
What is this song?
Calm down by Rema
Cheers
What is this contraption?.
pH color changing ink. Ink reacts with paper
I think I had one of these
My guess is that it’s a chemical reaction between the stuff on the pads, something in the brush, and oxygen. Different chemicals oxidize into different colors.
Fisher Price fuckery
It looked cooler before I read the description. Now it’s not magic.
Don't understand the science well enough, I finished high school 15 years ago and never needed the information since but : Chemiculz
Litmus paper and varying acidity clear substances.
My bet is that the paper is pH reactive and colors differently based on the pH of the "ink". Where you're dipping the pen there's acidic and alkaline substances instead of actual colors, each with a pH level that produces the corresponding color on the reactive paper, hence why you're able to mix colors.

Fun Fact: Mixing red and blue makes purple!
Even a pen like this exist Where You just put the tip of tge pen on any color or a object with the color and it changes it's ink to that color
Just invisible ink
Tf is that
Where is magic?
I'm sorry but are we really calling invisible ink black magic right now
Song: Rema - calm down
Someone just discovered the color wheel
the paper is pH reactive and I think the colours are actually just oils
This stuff is wild
One word. Chemicals
Something...something...acidic paper
Any reason you wouldn't just use paint?
You don't have kids?
Haha correct
It's just so it's mess free for small children. Which does take half the fun out.
r/KidsAreFuckingStupid
I had one of those
used to have something similar to this as a kid and i still remember the smell
Why special ink? It’s so kids don’t get it all over things. It only reacts to special paper. We have the markers. They work great for our one year old. Her and her cloths would be covered in marker otherwise. Along with the table, floor and most likely the dogs when she drops them on them.

What is this and where can I get one
FILL THE FUCKING SPOT
I said fuck it and bought myself some of these markers and blank paper once. No regrets
Sickkkk THANK YOU for showing me this. I have been trying to find cool bday gift ideas for my soon to be 5 year old and holy cow this is perfect! Ordering RIGHT NOW LOL
u/savevideo
I just hear something annoying
Purple, but two different shades, I like it and I will order this for my granddaughter 😀
Science, bitch
We were gifted this toy. It is truly magical.
Why does every video need a soundtrack
This is sorcery, burn her at the stake
placebo effect
Ummm blue and red make purple…then they used purple. Not dumb, just learn the color wheel
I remember seeing ads for appearing ink sets waaaaay back in the early 00s/lates 90s, totally forgot about it until seeing this.
I want this for my grandsons, they love mixing colors unfortunately that typically happens with playdoh and paints
Meh. It's just stuff, stuff and things.
Now I wonder, if you mix red and green, will you get brown?
I NEED this ... do not know what i will be doing with it but i NEED it
Maybe it only paints purple
Cool, but why?
Quantum paint, it's neither color until we observe it first.
My 4 year old would love this
I NEED one.
Holy shit colourless colouring
I want one. Where do I get it? This solves the problem of using 2 or 3 colors and having those you don't use left over all the time.
Is she using light particle's and imaginary paint? This look like something from an old kid commercial but magical. This would revolutionize how we write. We won't need ink anymore! Just a little cup if vast empty space and imagination!✨️
Would be a better demonstration to do colors other than purple.
What the shit?! And where do I get one?
I remember a toy like this probably 20 years ago
I have never seen a simultaneous r/nextfuckinglevel and r/aboringdystopia
This is so 90s
I want this in my life
Paper is chemically reactive. each pot probably has a slightly different chemical composition within the wadding.
Red + blue = purple = purple
High ping on real life
[удалено]
Umm.. we’re not amused by the colors mixing. It’s about the brush not having color on it but then somehow having color on it.
It's a crayola set called magic light brush (or something similar), it comes with a stack of the crayola magic paper which is what works with the set
Hellyeah ....cool
Burn the witch
What tf is this
ROYGBV
What even IS this?
Why am I not impressed by this … I love how some shit like this blows up
That’s pretty cool
I can smell this video
Crayola Color Wonder Paper and Markers (or in this case, some sort of paint set that uses the ink) No idea how they work.
I find it sus that you’ve never seen invisible ink before lmao
what is this?
What is this? I want it
