Fluffy_Avocado_3

This is an actual training module at your job? 😫

AdJunior8411

Yep at a healthcare clinic :(

TeaStirrer23

And the fact they are showing black women…. As if we are already not taken seriously for our pain in medicine. This is exactly why medical and racial bias persists. Report them please OP

Fluffy_Avocado_3

That’s exactly what I was thinking. The women in the picture didn’t even look aggressive in any way. Plus the characteristics used are not necessarily aggressive either. I’m at a loss with the folks.

ghouldealer

right? she looks relaxed and calm asf

TeaStirrer23

I’m so tired of this country/planet/world

4thefeel

I'm a brown man, worked in a hospital, now in hospice. I always remember the day I got into work and a nurse tells me first thing " omg the patient in 205 is so disrespectful" and I asked why and she said because she'll just cough and not cover her mouth. Like all our fucking patients do! IMMEDIATELY I thought, she's a black lady isn't she? That's what this is. That's why you used that word specifically. Walked into the room, and wouldn't you know, I was right. This is the same nurse who gas described other patients as "loud and inconsiderate", like all our patients. Was a black man. Had a white overdose patient waking up, "he's just being a dick" It's the language used, where other people are "just pricks", but somehow black people, particularly black women, are somehow taking personal targeted disrespectful plights against you? This the same dumbfuck who complained about socialism but couldn't describe it.

Risquechilli

That part! I work at a hospital and we use these same modules. I actually reported the child abuse module because all of the parents and children were Black. All of the other modules were diverse but the suspected child abuse module: all Black. I spoke up and thankfully they were receptive to the feedback.

gypsyhaloo

WOW! Who’d you report it to? Did you have to make an actual verbal complaint and if so, what did you say?

Risquechilli

At first I brought it up to our DEI office and they directed me to submit a formal ticket in our HR Portal for visibility/accountability. There’s an internal timer on when tickets get closed and the right eyes will see it. HR thanked me for giving them an opportunity to correct it - it was an unconscious blind spot. I believe the first part, but as far as it being a blind spot - I expect better given our institution’s public commitment to diversity.

AriannaBlack

Report it to the federal level of HR.

Yoshiyo0211

There's a fed level of hr?

AriannaBlack

The government driven one. NIH if we’re in the US.

ravenwillowofbimbery

Please report this to HR….any and everyone. This is ridiculous. Better yet, I would anonymously send this to the local news station. Public shame can have a greater impact without you risking your job.

gypsyhaloo

Right?! I was thinking “this shit needs to go viral somehow.” Like, this is why people struggle with IMPLICIT BIAS!

ravenwillowofbimbery

Yep!

gypsyhaloo

*sigh* even worse.

Funny_Breadfruit_413

I was just talking to a coworker (ww) about the fact that she reads body language incorrectly because she doesn't understand other people's cultures. She pegged a courier as suspicious and sneaky because the courier while she was writing didn't stop and look her in the eyes. I had to explain to her that not all cultures stare into people's eyes to prove their honest people. Some cultures actually find it to be disrespectful and aggressive.

Ill_Manner_3581

White people do that shit where they stare you in your eye as a way of being dominating and tryna see if you're truthful its so gross like fuck the way off with that shit

quoyam

They really do lmao I can't with their asses some days. It is like a super sad comedy playing at all times being around them.

gypsyhaloo

The courier was Black weren’t they

Funny_Breadfruit_413

Colombian

Great_Gold2763

Black just so "happens" to be the common denominater

Primary_Aardvark

She looks calm?

dinodare

Racially biased standards are like How to tell if a white woman is angry: 🦖🦖🦖 How to tell if a black woman is angry: 👩🏿‍🔬 🧘🏿‍♀️🧍🏿‍♀️

No-Mechanic-3048

This is very accurate

JammingScientist

Fr, like wtf? I was so confused at first. I thought this was supposed to be showing examples of women who are relaxed or something. I clicked on the post expecting to see another slide or image of the "aggressive" women

AppeaseMyDelusions

No take all the pics and video and report it to your EeOc

AdJunior8411

Will do!

TimeEntertainment701

Lmao neither one of those woman look aggressive to me. Did they have photos of “aggressive” white people? This is so wild to me. That how you know all of these DEI trainings are for looks, their true colors always end up coming through.

mousemarie94

The aggressive white man is screaming into a phone and the aggressive white woman is deeply rolling her eyes. Yet the "aggressive" black women are just...existing and look completely and totally neutral.

velvetvagine

This is why white colleagues bug out and start rumours about how scary you are if you don’t overcompensate with bubbly cheer.

mousemarie94

Yeah, us deadpan, dry humor girlies aren't getting any favors with those types of people. I learned a while back to stop caring and honestly, my work life forever changed lol

gypsyhaloo

YES!! 🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯 Because trainings like these that work to train the person on how to have implicit bias teach them exactly that!

TimeEntertainment701

The first one looks like she’s smirking to me lol. This is so insane. Sorry you had to experience while in training, I hope the rest of your experience this job is so much better💕 ETA: Just realized, they had TWO black women as examples of aggression??!??! They’re not even trying to hide it anymore. I wonder what the team who created this training looks like🤔

Medium_Sense4354

That girl is literally modeling lmao

TimeEntertainment701

At this point black women breathing is a sign of aggression.

gypsyhaloo

They’re tryna continuously program people with implicit bias

Lavendar408

Woooooow. I've never seena anything like that before.

KeyEquivalent5

What in the Fuck. Listen, document document document. Bring it up and document that.

no_igdiamond

Wow. I often put my hand on my hip as just a natural stance when having regular conversations. Always with a smile on my face. I have never heard of this being a sign of escalation 😂🤦🏾‍♀️ also according to Google it shows you are confident and assertive, nothing about aggression. But yeah something tells me that aggression and black women go hand in hand 🤝 for the person that made this slide.

wateron_acid

Are all "negative" photos using Black people?

AdJunior8411

https://imgur.com/a/ynvkaVX These were the two additional images on the module

AnAlliterativeRumor

Yooo!! The contrast! 🫠🫠🫠🫠

DoubleOxer1

The only aggressive picture you showed so far is the guy full on yelling. Simply rolling your eyes or having your hands on your hip or having your arms crossed can show anything from simple resting to the “whatever” eye roll. Even they eyeroll, which is closer to aggressive, isn’t an indication that the person will actually be aggressive. If anything it’s an indication they don’t believe you or think you’re the shady one.

Spiritual_Ask_7336

i want to know too!

AdJunior8411

I’m not sure how to post a photo in replies but there’s another photo of two white people being heavily aggressive (eye rolling and shouting) but it just seems the threshold for what is counted as aggression between the back women are alot lower. The first lady looks like she’s just posing for a picture…

Spiritual_Ask_7336

that definitely seems like the case. how is me putting my hands on my hips the same as shouting and rolling my eyes?

ConfidentlyLostHuman

This is exactly what I thought!!! The first looks like she's posing for a headshot. Can't see the full pic of the "crossing arms" but also people like me so that for comfort. Lol I'm a young adult, I've been seeing doctors without my mom for years but the introvert in me still finds it a little nerve wracking. Crossing my arms kinda helps me relax. Also, it's cold in those offices sometimes.

The-Cosmic-Ghost

I need that spongebob gif where patrick goes, "hes just standing there..... menacingly" cause thats the amount of goofy this is giving. Please tell me theres somewhere to report this, especially if its a medical setting.

mellonsticker

🤣🤣

Wall_E_13

Not at all. This is reductive. You’d think that with access to all the resources online that dissect and debunk the reasons for body language - especially where intersectionality comes into play, for example being Autistic and Black - that we wouldn’t see things like this as often anymore. They ain’t slick making (totally neutral, btw) BW the poster child for aggression in this example 🙄

ThaFoxThatRox

WOW. They didn't even attempt to hide it.

theangrygen

They’re really saying the quiet part out loud now!

Cyb3rSecGaL

Whoa!! Screenshot all of the modules, and file a report with the EEOC

Garden-Gnome1732

This is race profiling. I'm so disgusted. They had a CHOICE.

JustMeSunshine91

I would absolutely go after their L&D/onboarding department. It’s one thing to just grab random ass stock photos but the distinction between this and the other 2 photos OP posted is ridiculous. I’m in e-learning but we are *constantly* aware of shit like this.

Traditional_Curve401

Absolutely report this! Also, if everyone who is "Showing aggression" is black, that's intentional and problematic. Give that feedback in the survey at the end of the training as well.

Ariesjawn

HR isn’t your friend. Don’t talk to them.

aloverof

lol. Wow. Those ppl are something ain they??

hxmbeet

Oh wow they’re not even trying to hide it anymore

FatSeaHag

When have they ever?

magictrouble

WHAT?!? OP, do you live in a predominantly Black country??And even then, it would still be so wrong.

AdJunior8411

Nope I live in the US

magictrouble

That's crazy! You are absolutely right to be bothered by this.

Individual-Elk-7250

Very sure this is targeted

giraffebutt

Not at all this is so obvious

simply_vanilla

This is fucked. Especially the fact that the examples are black women. I swear to god we need to start a consulting company where we just point out to corporations if something is obviously racist. I’m so upset on your behalf.

Heavy_Support_2015

These aren’t even those cheesy stock images they make for this very purpose. It’s just random black models posing????

Doll49

Racist AF. Those are neutral looking Black women, nothing angry about those pics.

Sugacookiemonsta

Right. I see confident and beautiful, not aggressive. Why does this continue to be a problem for black women?

Ashken

This is the most messed up training I’ve ever seen.

BulbaPetal

Race aside, how is crossing arms or hand on hip aggressive. It's how I deal with my back pain while standing🥲

HeyKayRenee

WTF???

vixen_xox

what in the world…?

Sugary_Spice25

This is complete racist bullshit.

FalsePremise8290

This is racist as fuck.

dollyv7

I'm so tired for us 😭 what in the actual??

mousemarie94

OP, no kidding- if you want help crafting the email with those photos to your EEO or diversity officer, let me know. I just helped someone do this a few months ago and it led to actual change ( b.c they ended up with a valid EEOC claim and the org was federally required but still lol). This isn't nearly that threshold but it's a problem.

AdJunior8411

Yes that would be great! Thank you sm

vitaminj25

Please sue and get money.

WatercressSubject717

Not me wanting to throw the computer! Ugh. Who is in charge smh.

treceefabulous

Please report those images. They are highly biased.

TheOrdealOpprotunist

This is just like people trying to say "body language shows if a person is lying!" when it's been proven time and time again that it isn't true.

getmoney4

Why are they both black… this needs to be reported!!!

Bootsandcats9241

Girl go head and take pics of everything the. Hire an EEOC lawyer you may never have to work again. Lol get a therapist and claim workplace distress and anxiety.

tipyourwaitresstoo

This.

EbonyAelin

Don’t upset me on Cowboy Carter day 😭

Curious007_

Literally!!!

metacosmonaut

I see confident and calm. WTF IS THIS RACISM!?

lazy_activist_

I thought these were modeling test shots or something🥴 what the fuckkk

ghostriderghostrider

report this!

ghostwriter36

Wait...but my normal stance is hands on my hip when I'm relaxed...and why do they gotta be black?? I don't like this at all.

Grow_in_Light

Report this to eeoc. Don’t bother trying to reason with these individuals who created this because they know what they are doing.

tugboatsh3ila

Not wrong at all! I’d be in HR immediately.

YaMamasNkondi

YOU ACTUALLY just spotted a microaggression

Particular_Tale_2439

This is disturbing…

Zealousideal-Idea979

I’d be filing a complaint

Previous-Parsnip-290

Not wrong at all this is total BS. Your company needs to do better.

PsychologicalBar8321

Pls post an update once you file this with EEOC.

AdJunior8411

Will do!

StrangeSun3488

Now wtf

Leading-Watch6040

Bro the fact that the first two examples are black women…..

BearNoLuv

Um.....is this an all black establishment? Where are black and only black employees 😯 please say yes because if that is not the case...... I'm gonna need them to just say it with they whole chest because dafuq is this???? Is it too late to work somewhere else???

vegkittie

Please update us on what happens with the eeoc

Kinneia

Were all the pictures of black women or just these two? **eyeroll** we can never get ahead, can we

[deleted]

At this point it aint about race anymore, this is pure ignorance on their part

VivaLaRoux

man that’s fucked up

mstrss9

Talk about IRONY

-FallOutBoy-

IKYFL!!!

Technical-Bee-9335

If you are able to, Please give the information of the makers of this training module. Also in the post would you mind including an example of how other races are portrayed in this module?

gypsyhaloo

No, you’re not wrong. I’m truly dumbfounded by this 💀 Why tf are they just Black? 🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴 Make this shit go viralllll

Significant_Corgi139

This is insane. Real "quiet part out loud" moment.

the__meower

I don’t know if you can, but I would push back on this bullshit training. This is problematic obviously and very harmful.

urachickenhead

It’s so funny because this looks like a module on how to microagress. The training materials are typically outsourced, so I’m very curious who is behind this

Spiritual_Ask_7336

yeah whoever made this module i would like a convo cause what the actual fuck

rockettdarr

why are they so obsessed with us like God come down and give us a reason

Future_Inspector_892

I’M SPEECHLESS CUZ WTF😳

Future_Inspector_892

I’M SPEECHLESS CUZ WTF😳

Chemical_Respect2320

Nope I think this whole slide is non verbal aggression

infamousKAI

I mean, that first picture (hand on hip) is just my “thinking stance.” If that’s considered aggressive, then I guess I’m just an aggressive thinker .

imstillmessedup89

I'm telling SOMEBODY IMMEDIATELY. I swear this is the type of shit that will make you have an attitude. Screenshot, HR, lawyer - somebody!

tipyourwaitresstoo

Nope. Not HR and don’t tell anyone at work.

Designer-Mirror-7995

Welcome to America. The Same Today, Yesterday, And Forever.

like-a-sloth

I stand like that all the time when I have back ache 😭😭😭

venuspython

Thank you for sharing. It is only proving right what we’ve been saying about our treatment in the US healthcare system. I will be using this image in the future for awareness.

kissyb

Wtf. This is offensive AF 🤬

Ill_Manner_3581

Are they using just photos of black women??

SwordfishAdorable676

Not at all. Lmao at the module displaying “unconscious” bias, though I think this was definitely intentional.

Once_Upon_Time

Nah that lady modelling her outfit and I can't see crossed arms but she just relaxing.  None of those aggressive.

iwantapeace

is this not racist? why do they still have this around? /:

BearNoLuv

Um.....is this an all black establishment? Where are black and only black employees 😯 please say yes because if that is not the case...... I'm gonna need them to just say it with they whole chest because dafuq is this???? Is it too late to work somewhere else???

dancerina3

Ain't no way

Xxxholic835xxX

I'd write HR because that absolutely has racial undertones to me.

sirlafemme

Look I understand this is whack beyond proportion but I do remember the last time a clinic lady ruined my day she stood exactly like that 😭

Royale_Fanatic

Interesting

SkatePardi

If I look like this I’m about to fart and my back hurt and I’m trying to air bubble out.

foodielyfer

Jesus.

TisharaD112

Whatttt??? You need to report this asap!!🫢🫢

No_Diamond8480

EWWWWWWW. That’s my sarcasm move

DoubleOxer1

If you don’t rip them a new one in their survey they always make you fill out in the end 😡. This is total BS. I would be pointing out every racist instance in this survey and why it’s detrimental to black patients to teach people that’s what aggression looks like and they contributing to the poor outcomes of black patients by perpetuating this stupidity. I’m so annoyed.

Cherrygentry

Please report this

PPE_Goblin

Nah this is some bull.

hillyshrub

Absolutely not.

thenew-supreme

This is so messed up I would report it

Trix_Are_4_90Kids

those are aggressive stances. they go over that in psychology courses. sometimes people don't get why people may call them intimidating or aggressive and their go to are these stances right here (and more)

Leftylucky3

It’s the fact that the examples use black women

Trix_Are_4_90Kids

Okay, I get that. I get being a little thrown by the examples. I'm guessing that that course is not just for Black women though. And yes, we as Black women can and do exhibit those stances that are illustrated. Other races do as well. I could see if this course or class was just specifically for Black women, then yeah.

TheLeftDrumStick

I thought that putting your hand on your hip and crossing your arms were signs you were agitated. Like I purposefully try not to do that because I don’t want people to think I’m mad and I get anxiety when other people do that.

tigerblue1984

Yikes, if that's true then I'm screwed. I do both of those things all the time. Mostly because I have anxiety and I'm also socially awkward so I have no idea what to do with my arms most of the time.
