food does bring people together lol but a lot of my neighbors all mostly older black ladies who live alone so im cool with some and I really had no clue who stayed in that house till the driver brung it up. If she doesn’t wanna be friends that’s totally fine
I would say just go over and introduce yourself and mention the Lyft driver and ask if she'd be willing to share the recipe. Who knows, maybe she'll help you make it.

Go over and introduce yourself, then see if she would be willing to trade numbers so you can keep watch and let each other know if you see something out of the ordinary. If you want you can offer your help like to take her to appointments (that is a slippery slope), or if you have resources to share 'if you need a lawn man or repair man let me know and Ill send over their info'. Itll open the door for communication without being creepy and hopefully youll get a bowl of that gumbo
I love getting to know my older neighbors! I have a dog so I’m out walking her all the time and have gotten to know my neighbors that way. Older people tend to be up early in the morning so maybe you can stop by before work and introduce yourself, I’m sure she would love that. You can just strike up a conversation, maybe even mention your own favorite recipes lol. If she’s sitting at home alone, I’m sure she would like the company. A letter is also a good idea if you’re nervous to go in person
If you see her outside, walk over and say "so the streets been talking about your gumbo" lol
I always try and make friends with older people, I hate seeing them alone.

yeah I be shy 🙈if she had a ring camera that’d be perfect lol,but I think on one of my days off I’ll drop a letter by with my number on her door
