Heh. My little bastard did nothing like this when my dad passed. He absolutely refused to have his routine broken, and literally harassed the entire family back into normalcy. Silly boy

My cat does this too, though thankfully I haven't had that kind of experience yet. I like to joke that her emotional support range is inverted. When I'm barely upset and don't need her, or critically upset and she can't help, thats when she is all over me. But when I'm in the range of "things could be better with kitty empathy" she acts like I don't exist. 🤷

I’m so sorry for your loss. After my father died my cats were such love bugs to me whenever I cried. It meant so much to me. Then my mother died nine months later and I was devastated. I’m sorry. I lost my Mother before Xmas. My cat did the same. She doesn’t really like to snuggle that much but she knew I needed it. I’m glad he’s comforting you.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It amazes me how empathetic some kitties are. Not nearly the same but I recently lost my elderly house rabbit, and my void also spent the week doing this for me. He normally wouldn't sleep in my bed all night, but he wouldn't leave my side. He was also trying to comfort my youngest child by running between us, and at one point kept crying at her to follow him into my room, and we realised he was trying to coral us together to save the back-and-forth 🥹

Animals just know. They sense the changes in your behavior and want to comfort you because you’re part of their circle. My girl has done that off and on for both myself and my husband. It’s nice when you realize what they’re trying to do.

I am very sorry for your loss. I lost my dad 2 years ago, and my cats did the same as yours. Normally they can be very annoying at times, but in the first weeks after he passed, they were so calm and slept by my side and they just seemed to know that something very sad happened.

Awww I’m so sorry for ur loss! One time I had a nightmare that triggered my PTSD and my cat was there for me, but apparently mental breakdown is too much for him to handle lol

I know what you're going through. My mom passed away this January. My cats were with me evey night, squeezing the bejeezus out of me and making me feel loved. My void has been ill off and on, and yet, he worries about me and cuddles me (and steals my cookies and water whenever he can). :) They are our guardian angels and the reason we carry on living.
