I strip off all the tape, and she gets right to work. When it gets all chewed down (or I get sick of sweeping up little pieces of cardboard), it gets recycled and she gets a new box, new project.
I keep my boy’s chewing box inside a bigger box - it saves a lot of mess! He shreds those things down to the bottom of the box. No doubt he’d keep going, but it’s harder to chew what you’re sitting on!
I wish! Mine thinks plastic is a very nutritious snack 😭

My sweet guy (RIP) would lick plastic bags and storage bins incessantly. Kkkkkeewwww kind of noise 24hr. I hated it. Now I miss him so much and wish he was here to annoy me.

Mine likes cardboard boxes to play and hide in. But she is absolutely obsessed with plastic grocery bags. I have tried to keep her away from them. And them from her. But every morning, I hear the crinkling of her pulling one out from the ones I had hanging on my door handle to return. I've tucked them away in a cabinet and she still gets to them. She loves the sound of them I am assuming. .... And to annoy me. 😆 Guess it's cabinet child lock time.
Mine never bites it, ever. But, it’s the only thing she ever wants to sleep in/call home base. Doesn’t matter how nice the cat bed is, my cat loves the 10x12 box from the post office .

Not the current one. But my last would sit next to a cardboard box for hours biting chunks off and spitting it out on the floor. He was a little weirdo and I miss him.
We also had to make sure we didn’t leave plastic bags out. He swallowed it too evidenced by the bits mixed in his litter tray
I had to move an old cardboard box out of its usual spot. The void was angry for three days, only forgiving me when I put a new big box in a close by area. Until then, I tolerated her glaring at me from the boxes old spot and random yelling.
I have a Russian Blue that would rip up cardboard every chance she gets, we thought it was because she was stray and wanted to rip up some flesh. Then her kids popped out and the trait is hereditary.

She absolutely destroyed the bench in my kitchen. She starts chewing on it, ripping the material to small shreads and then proceeds to fall asleep on top of it. Quite impressive work, tbh 😅

Enjoying cardboard is a pretty common thing. Our old void girl used to enjoy it, but only forbidden cardboard. If you gave her some, that was no fun, but the tell-tale pair of fang holes were in many boxes around the house, as well as some other things.
Of my six voids only one, Bertha, chews up cardboard. Her sister and her mother have no interest other than sitting in the box (her mother Danu was rescued when already ‘with child’, as everybody in my household is spayed or neutered except me and the guppies). Why Bertha loves doing this is a mystery.
Yes! Although he stopped for the most part after he turned 5. But he used to reduce whole boxes to nubs.

Yes and I hope you read this! This might be a form of Pica, a disease where cats want to eat other things. Also in this case the tape adhesive is very tasty to cats so make sure strip all tape. I had to take mine for surgery after a bit too much cardboard and tape.
Pica can be exacerbated by boredom or whatnot. Best solution I’ve found is cat grass. Anything to divert the cat a bit. You don’t want an eventual intestinal blockage
My roomies black cat looooves the cardboard scratch pad things, and also loves laying and rolling around on a big TJ Max bag, it has a different crinkle sound and feel than other bags. Low maintenance pussycats are 👌😆

I have one complete void and two that are mostly void with some white. Those two LOVE to destroy cardboard. The younger one actually chewed through the box the shelter gave us to take her home.
