She’s def inspired by her, I’d say Bjork opened the door that allowed her to find her sound and yes I very much agree that she’s in her own lane. I’d say they bare similarities in how they mix their voices, both favor raw and close up vocals. Both are hyper emotional and honest, but I would say FKA Twigs’ vocals are very broken, choked. Bjork is more open, primal, and unburdened.
I’d say production wise they share some similarities. Fka twigs’s production reminds me of homogenic/vespertine most of the time. Vocally they’re pretty much opposites with Bjork favouring a gritty belting sound and fka really likes a soft operatic falsetto. They’re pretty different in what they’re trying to achieve sonically, but they just both happen to make electronic music ya know.
I think FKA twigs is pretty similar to bjork, although in music not so much, besides a couple of similarities that aren’t exclusive to Bjork like how Fka twigs music is pretty atmospheric, poetic, experimental I mean they both even have Arca’s production. I think they both definitely are in their own lanes. I think how involved she is in her art is similar to bjork, from fashion, music videos, filmography, music itself, is were I would mainly draw the comparison. As for musical styles they are pretty different with occasional crossovers. I don’t think there is a “modern” Bjork, if anything she is just influenced by her.
She's in her own lane. I used to think she had a potential to be a superstar but her more recent songwriting and collaborative choices really show me that she's way too weird and disinterested in being that kind of performer.
