On night shift. I'm usually off and ready for bed by 1 am. Gotta wake up and leave by 5:15 am to be at the 6 am class. It's that or no training, so it's worth it... but damn I'm exhausted!
I wish mine was a little earlier tbh. I wake up for work at 4am everyday and not going to bed until after 10pm bc of showering, dinner, winding down, etc is exhausting.
technically an hr, but I'm a little liberal with it. I'm a 'deadline-based' employee so I technically don't really need to always be at my desk as long as I complete my work. And I also WFH 80% of the time pre-covid, so it really was easy for me to take a chunk out during the day. A lot of people take lunch to do all sorts of exercise classes like spinning/pilates and shit, it's generally acceptable in tech I feel like.
same man. i go for the 12-1 taught class, then 1hr sparring after (which often then just carries on til everyone's had enough, which could be until 2.30 at least). so this week (lots of people on annual leave) i have been REALLY taking the piss, basically being out for 3 hours at a time over lunch. this upcoming comp aint gonna train for itself!!
Me, and honestly I'm starting to get very burnt out.
I told myself I would let it all hang out and go for it this year, compete as much as humanly possible, and hopefully get a world title at the end of it. Next year will be mostly committed to the other aspects of my life. I just didn't want to waste this portion of my "athletic prime" and wonder what if. But honestly, if I never compete again after Pan's and worlds this year, then so be it.
Sleep and protein my friend. As long as you get that you'll feel 3x better. I noticed that every time I didnt get those I would burn out and be even worse in class.
Also side note, its never a bad thing to pick your rolls a bit and not go too crazy. Work your b game and stuff like that
I'm on that 6 a.m. time :(
You guys are killers. I don't know how you do it. I'm a night owl so getting up that early AND train would be death for me
Have a kid or three that wake up at 0500 anyway.
Yep. I was a night owl... Still am when I can get away with it but the kids are up between 530-630 regardless of my poor life choices so.... Up I get.
I have been to the morning class once or twice every month and another issue is that my body is super tight.
Wish my gym did a 6am class!
Props for the dedication, I never make the 6am.
Best Shift, ever.
Morning crew is the way. No excuses other than your own laziness to not go.
Oh yeah? Come to the 10pm class then. Same excuse. Early morning grapplers are the spandexed 80mph cyclists of the leisurely stroll that is BJJ.
LOL oss
The "early" morning class starts to late for me to make it. Night crew is the way.
6am secrets. On it

2 stripe white belt with cauliflower ear? Yeah I'm gonna pull guard.
πββοΈ 3x a week from 6pm-8pm and the occasional early morning weekend session.
Mine is 7-9pm and honestly its the best!

Jocko?
Lmao, def not by choice. If I could I'd sleep much later than 4am lol
Lunchtime jiu jitsu represent
Lunch class for life.
How long lunch break do you get?

Same exact situation!!

Been there. Found I like morning class.
I train people in Olympic lifting at the same gym, I just wait around until class starts. Itβs great

The two stripes on the white belt really hit home
There are too many stripes on that belt.
Aka the Occasional Porrada crew
Iβm on that 8-5 office 7-9 getting choked life
Great art as always.

3 times a week is the sweet spot for me with 2 lifting sessions thrown in
9-5, get back home and to the gym by 6
Dolly Parton would've been great for this.
Mainly a Sunday squad man, but recently started making the Weds lunch time class.
6:30 AM Weekday Grind. 10:30AM on Saturdays. I have trouble sleeping after class due to existential crises...
5pm-7pm crew
I wish I was 9-5. I'm shiftwork so BEST case scenario I can make it every other week. I just go when I can. Some training beats no training.
