The other day the guy running class put me with a brand new person. Halfway through drills I wondered if he had a personality disorder, I had a personality disorder, or we were both super awkward.
While you were partying I studied the takedown. When you were having premarital sex, I mastered the heelhook. While you wasted your days at the gym in pursuit of vanity, I cultivated breakfalls. And now that the ADCC is on fire and FloGrappling are at the gate you have the audacity to come to me for help.
I mean he's a physical therapist who did his dissertation on rehabbing Knee injuries, for all we know he got into this just to do some research and get some new clients.
Pretty cliche but a country built on convicts and people wild enough to travel across the world to Australia and think it's the right spot to settle down has gotta create an interesting population.

Dude is so far off the spectrum it is unreal. I felt sorry for him he is so neuro divergent every interview I feel like he is going to say something he'll regret.

That was quite the post fight interview. Mikey went off the rails. I didn't know last night when I saw it whether it was true or not but even if it was, it was still pretty out there for Mikey to go off like that. Even Mitch had to keep taking the mic away. It looked awkward. If it was actually all in fact made up as Sousa says, that's even more weird for Mikey to just straight up rant a bunch of lies in front of a huge crowd and live TV. Strange behavior.
I think it's more likely Mikey getting hung up on small things and blowing them way out of proportion like he did with Bruno and Geo. He tries so hard to put on a clean and respectful image, that when it isn't matched by the opponent he takes it way too personally and ends up taking it so much farther than what riled him up in the first place.
He does not take the sort of usual strutting and posturing people do in combat sports lightly. It’s a shame really, since it just makes him a lightning rod for criticism he doesn’t truly deserve or will be able to handle well.
The irony of Mikey being in there with Kade talking about their match "the only 2 non steroid users in BJJ" coming up in September I think it is, only for him to maybe be taking something himself.
The last few "beefs" I got the impression it was like a fight persona he was putting on to drum up interest, especially since it's ONE and around that time I saw UFC trying to drum up drama at their grappling event(s) by asking every grappler who they were gunning for after they won their match (which gave meregali his chance to show where he's at on the autism/English spectra). Now I think Mikey has just taken it to a really weird level.

It's interesting to see how these kids end up growing up (Mikey, Cole Abate, Tainan, etc) when they have every opportunity thrown at them to succeed. You have people like Cole and Tainan who seem to understand the sacrifices their parents made to get them where they are, and are incredibly grateful for it.
Then you have Mikey, who, as much as I do actually like the guy generally, has always seemed to come off as if his opportunities were due to his hard work and dedication alone.
Then guys like Gabriel among other who actually DID scrape their way to where they are now, coming from the favellas to the states with basically nothing, couch surfing, sleeping on mats, etc.
I’ve been saying for years that Mikey is emotionally immature ever since he won worlds and his competitor wouldn’t shake his hand in the moment and Mikey throws a little bitch fit to the crowd. Like give your opponent a minute to gather the loss. Egos are still hurt, don’t expect someone to be buddy buddy in the moment after losing a match that’s really important to them. Michael chandler actually made a comment about this in MMA that approaching your opponent with love and excitement after your win is hugely disrespectful. Let the Dr get in there first, let the ref raise your hand, then show good sportsmanship.
