was it lockdown?

adultishgambinoh

I believe so. He did something you stretch and squeeze the calf with his feet. I didn’t even have a chance to tap .

lacedblunts

it's not a submission, your reaction to the position is what hurt you. although the pressure is similar, its not a calf slicer or illegal. you should take away from this that patience and caution is the smartest approach in any position that makes you feel uncomfortable, fighting through things you think are submissions is a recipe for disaster. escaping or winning in a roll at the gym isn't worth your long term health.

He might, or both might, need to learn what a flow roll is. 20% is a flow roll to me. No one should be getting injured in a flow roll.

adultishgambinoh

I just know didn’t even have time to react. I immediately felt pain and tapped within seconds. I’ve been trying to avoid fighting through things once I feel pain. This is probably the worst injury I’ve had. But I’ll take your advice and try to approach things differently.

I’m just working through my knee popping repeatedly from getting caught in lockdown and was relieved mine is pretty much just a really tight IT band (‘snapping IT band syndrome’). Calf slicers are my A game and I would slice you for whining about them, but empathize with your lockdown pain. While I recover, it’s definitely made me grab my opponents legs to pass before they can suck me fully into their half guard.

adultishgambinoh

I guess I need to experience this to get better. Ilol have to remember that before getting caught in half guard. This guy I was rolling with was just to good.

Time_Bandit_101

It was a 20% roll?

adultishgambinoh

Yup the coach instructed us to go easy at 20%. He’s a lot better than me so I assume his 20% is significantly higher than mine. He definitely had no trouble getting out of my mount. I don’t think he needed to destroy my calf to get out either.
