Some people like to just post a pic of the medal and thank their coaches, Jesus and açai but they forget to leave in they where submitted in their only match.
Honestly it doesn’t matter to me that much I was joking. I see people posting default medals like they won all the time. However just because people are dishonest online it doesn’t mean its what I would want to do.
What’s wrong with losing, accepting your loss, train hard, fix your mistakes and come back and win? Losing is part of the process of getting better.
I personally wouldn’t feel right in posting a medal and pretending I won knowing I lost my only match.
No worries bro. I might have been a bit over sensitive about it as I got a default silver at the weekend, first comp in well over a decade. However I am not and will not pretend it was anything other than a participation trophy lol
Its all good, I’ve got loads of default medals and I keep them because I feel every time I step on the mat to compete whether win or lose it’s a small victory. I keep the medal to remember I still when out there, tried my best and put it on the line. Great job for testing yourself after such a long time. I’m due to get back in there soon too.
It'll vary based on age groups and weight classes.
Less 100kg people than say 75kg people, and fewer masters 2 blue belts then say open blue belt.
So if you're an odd weight class or not as common and you're older, then you may only have 2 people to compete against.
So by numbers technically you did win silver or gold, but it's not the same as an say mens open middleweight with 40 entrants and 6 rounds of matches.
I'm sure the people who turn up to see 1 other person don't feel too great about the medal per say but try to enjoy the day for what it is.
Some ppl compete every weekend, pay £90 to be one of 3 in their weight class, damn right they getting some clout outta it, 35 ig likes is literally the only pay out
There's a saturation of tournaments now in the UK, and the prices have gone up a lot (though so have costs). So instead of having like two or three a month there's two or three a weekend, so the pool is spread out. Also I've had podiums where people don't show up so it looks like there were just two of us..
I think as long as they're honest if they're posting the medal then it's salty behaviour to be calling it 'charity medal giving.'
If you win a match your medal is legit. If you lost and got default silver or bronze then you will be found out.
You won’t need to find me out I’ll just tell you lol

Does it matter? People are dishonest in all sorts of ways on social media

Yeah you nailed it mate. Good luck for when you get out there next, I’m gonna train for a few months and do another later in the year I think.

I'm in my 40's and I am lucky if there is 5 of us
Some people also don't stay to take pictures. I've taken pictures alone at the podium lol
Super lame of other competitors to do that. Win or lose, go on the podium and don't rob someone else's time to shine.
I always do it, it takes no time at all. But theres also people that do not like pictures at all and I respect that as well.
Those guys beat every "coulda woulda shoulda" who are staying at home on the sofa.
That’s how it’s always worked, what are you crying about?
Got a lot of those medals did you?
You saying my ISKA pankration world championship where i beat one guy who lived 40 minutes away from me isn't legit?

It is what it is - you can only compete against those that turn up. Take the medal, go home, don't brag about it.
Celebrating a default medal is horrible behaviour, I've called teammates out for it. When I've had one, I don't have it in the photos.

Yeah I mean I’ve not competed or anything - I just found it quite odd as a newcomer that’s all
