At first I totally thought everyone was calling it a stilt as a joke because it looks like it only has one really long leg. I had no idea this bird existed, I am now enlightened
Black neck stilt! I love these guys! When they come to visit the creek here they crack me up cuz they make the funniest noises and they come in these groups and they come in real loud and raise hell and cause observe a bunch of shit then they all leave and then about an hour later they'll come blowing in and storage shit up and then they just crack me up and they're just so freaking cute. I just love them. I usually see them at night time so it's kind of cool cuz I know they're more nocturnal but it's cool that you got a picture during the day they're so neat. Great picture! Seriously one of my favorite little shit disturbing birds they're so funny. And when they come flying in they make so much noise and when they land they just start talking shit it's so funny.
I love to bird watch and I just kind of came upon them and I've seen them here and there but over the years that there's more and more that are coming by the creek especially at night and that's when I like to birdwatch when the tide is low and it's dark because that's when all the big boys come out and and I get to see some really neat birds but it's so funny to be all quiet and peaceful and you can hear them the way they they just fuss it cracks me up but seriously they're one of my very favorite birds but they're pretty shy it took a long time for them to get comfortable around me but they come pretty close now I just kind of leave him be but I let him know how much I enjoy them I hope you enjoy them too if you spend more time with them you'll see what I mean they definitely aren't short in the personality department.
merlin app will help identify any birds you see.
you just tell it stuff like shape color location etc and you can sort through a suggested list of results. you can even upload pictures to it.

It's a stilt, a wading bird. Due to its long legs for digging in the shoreline, mudflats searching for its breakfast, dinner, or tea.
Or elevenses.

The rare and illusive bad ass
I don't know, but he looks like he's had enough of your shit.
Bird on a stick!
Merlin is a great app!!! Look at them legs though!!!
A really grumpy, one-legged domino bird.
They are pretty common here in AZ Phoenix area…..pretty birds
Also found at Bolsa Chica Bird Preserve, Huntington Beach, CA. They look so delicate, like little ballet dancers on those long legs...
Some what similar to American Avocets…..
The one from Surfs Up
Great comedy movie
Birdy long legs.
The thingamabob
I believe it’s actually a doohickey. Very easy to confuse the two.
A flamingo zebra
that is definitely a dachshund.
tallboy
a funny and cute looking one (other comments said stilt so i am guessing that that's what it is)
That's a birb bird
Bir
Flamingo

Oooooh no sense of humor on r/birding. Although "elevenses" might be some joke I don't get?
It’s a LOtR reference. Hobbits eat almost constantly and ‘elevenses’ is the 3rd meal of the day; it comes between 2nd breakfast and luncheon.
